Beginning? Let me see what I can remember....Opening sequence, there is a little boy running away from a man, he keeps running and running until he falls then you just see the shadow of the man catching up to him. Then you just see a screen that says four days ago. Four days ago the little boy is in his classroom playing the recorder (man, I remember those from music class!) with his other classmates and the teacher tells them to practice so they can win first place in a competition that will be held at the end of the week.
Then an older couple comes up to the little boy and tell him that it's very important they get a hold of his dad. The little boy says that he's working. Then they ask if they can follow him after school so they can talk to him. the little boy says yes. They wait for him after school but he's gone the opposite way. They notice he's already left the class so now they are angry and are searching for him. They spot his shirt and grab hold of him but it's not him, its another little boy. (Turns out that our little hero of the story had switched shirt w/him so they wouldn't follow him)
Then we see him pick up his little sister that can't be more than 3 years old. They live far away from school, but he takes good care of her. He even goes and pays some bills. They are scared of tht guy who looks like he had a stroke, he tells his sister never to go near him. He prays to good to help them out, to not let anything bad to happen to his family.
Unfortunately the loan sharks to end up finding his parents and then that's when they realize they have to do something about the situation.
When was it that you tuned in? p.s. the way I understood it was that they did end up dying. That last scene was so sad, because he's just playing his recorder w/tears streaming down his face.

Thanks spacegirl ;D...I tuned in around the part when the loan sharks were at his place w/ his mom and little sister...yeah it was pretty sad, that kid's a good actor, so they never explained how they fell into such debt and who that old man was?

This ep. made me realize that poverty is a very real thing in Korea. I mean, I can't tell you how many times I've read on the online korean newspapers about people killing themselves due to overwhelming credit card debts, huge unemployment rates, just total desperation. Daily dramas kind of just skim over it, I mean, when have you ever seen one of the poor characters live in a house that ugly, or wear clothes as worn out as these characters? They seem to romantacize their poverty, I guess maybe to help these people escape their reality at least for the hour or 1/2 hour that this show lasts.

Yeah this was something I totally wasn't expecting from Drama City...so why do you think they presented the show the way they did, like going back and forth with days?

I guess to make sense of the title. If they hadn't done it that way then you would have been "One Fine Day---what?" but I guess for them, seeing how their situation only got worse and worse, this was their day. One fine day they would stop being harassed, one fine day they would stop going to bed hungry, one fine day they wouldn't live in this miserable poverty. Although now that I think about it, doesn't it kind of promote suicide as an escape to your problems?

Yeah, that was what I was thinking, the really sad thing was they were bringing their children along with them, these innocent kids who still have their lives to live.

I know. Like I said before, it's a very real problem in Korea right now. They are in such a horrible economic recession that their a huge unemployment rate, people have huge credit card debts and some see it as their only way out. It was so touching to see how much the little boy wanted to live, how he fought to the very end to stay alive. They should have just let him stay w/the old guy in their building

I guess they just kept borrowing and borrowing. Something tells me that they probably used their money trying to start some kind of business but then failed. Did you see how many stuffed animals they had, still in their original packaging? I didn't get who the old guy was either, who was he supposed to be, or represent?
