Here is a clip from Womans World rather Ladies In The Palace www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtHh4eNptmgStill the highest rated Historical K Drama to date ,inc of course all of Asia . I have never seen this but from the sheer number of women oriented Historical's that followed ,it must have had a great impact. Since I didn't want to watch "the last scene" of the whole drama, on the OFF CHANCE that I EVER get to see this thing, LOL, I listened to/watched this: opening theme Women in the PalaceI hope one day to see it. Id never give up trying to see it ,but (sigh )my hopes would be better if it was a KBS or MBC drama. I even pondered about plonking down 12 bucks for the cheapest un subbed DVD version ,but at 200 eps i get cold feet.

I twiddled on Yi San for a long time but finally took the plunge and was glad i did , And im still debating on Dong Yi and Seondok ,made it through the first few episodes of each but am still yet to commit to either ,Dong has too much seen it all before for me as really does Seondeok but at least the time period is different .

I think I made an error somewhere. : / The IYSS dvds arrived but there are only 12 discs, I don't think 104 eps can be squeezed into that number so I'm probably missing half of it! So now I'm looking at the box, not very inclined to watch. o.O
On another note, I took a walk around a dvd shop earlier because I remembered seeing Women in the Palace and a few other titles on sale but they're no longer there. I think I might be able to unearth them somewhere. Only one copy of Yi San left but I know this publisher, the subs are unreliable and laughable.

griffin--It sounds like you purchased the abridged version instead of the full version. If that's the case, then my advice is to return it ASAP and save the money so you can buy the full version. I bought the abridged version when it came out (at that time nobody knew that the full version would be available someday) and it is not good, to put it mildly. Not only because of what's been hacked out, but because the subtitles are absolutely dreadful. Take it from me, just pack the thing up and return it right now. Seriously.
If you look around in the IYSS board you'll see some more extensive discussion about this.

I have to agree with ajk. I saw both the full version on television and the abridged DVD version, and what they did was essentially hack up most of the series leading up to episode 57 or so, stuffing it into about four episodes. It made his character development really jerky and unconvincing. Anyone I've spoken to who saw the shortened version was disappointed. I'd recommend saving up for the real thing.

;D Yi San is also available on mysoju.com no problem up to episode 44, which I just found out yesterday is a broken link - I will wait until it's fixed, hopefully sometime tis year LOL I think Dong Yi should be viewed before Yi san because Yi San is Dong Yi's great grandmother and it makes his character more understandable if you remember who his great-grandparents were. Just my opinion - but I loved Dong Yi and am truly enjoying Yi San. ;D

Even the boot version of Yi San titled Lee San Wind In The Palace has perfect subs and a great Wide Screen Print . So id go for it ,if you like Sejong you will enjoy this ,both being Sage Kings versus a never ending cast of plotters ,

Bo You know, I always wondered why they abridged it. At first I assumed it was because Korean viewers hated the background episodes because alot of it was fictionalized (which was inevitable considering not alot was known about Yi Soon Shin's early life)-(heck, this show has had alot of flack for inaccuracies, such as Won Gyun starting out as a noble man and being Yi's friend, only to have his arrogance destroy himself; little kid Yi being a shy weak boy whereas the popular belief was that he himself led a band of boys playing war games. Yu Song Ryong once mentioned that Yi was a "holy terror"); and the sinking of the turtle ship. Then, I learned from X of twitchfilm that it was too much money to reprint 104 episodes. Opening to the 5th Republic, starring Lee Duk-hwa as Chun Doo-hwan, most infamous for the Gwangju massacre. What? I consider it a historical, despite the lack of swords. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8JvMLWUA60Opening for Empress Myeongseong, the Korean empress killed by japanese assassins www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fi9n1-wVFAThere's also another way to watch IYSS online. A website called castTV. Link: www.casttv.com/shows/immortal-admiral-yi-sun-shin

Oh, so it's the abridged version! I was looking at the listed details for the dvd and not finding much info but ordered it nevertheless. So the full version is unlikely to hit the market. Those lazy louts! Thanks for the advice and info, all. ^^ I saw a movie title Hidden Sword (I think) it's about Queen Myeongseong but knowing what happened to her in the end ... I don't wanna watch it. It's sad and !!! (well, I don't wanna increase my already very considerable dislike of certain *** so I'd rather leave it alone) soapygrams, Yi San is Dong Yi's great grandmother I thought Dong Yi's era comes before Yi San? Thanks, Dramafreak, for the link!!!

I meant to say that Dong Yi is Yi San's great-grandmother - sorry - She was the grandmother of Crown Prince Sado - therefore she was the Great-grandmother of Yi San. Thank you for correcting me. I knew the difference but did not pick it up on proofing my post. Is anyone else watching Yi San at present? I was watching on mysoju until I encountered a broken link - so I am now watching on dramafever for now - I enjoyed Dong Yi and am also enjoying Yi San. ;D
