Well, after watching the first episode, it looks promising. Spoilers Episode 1: * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * No annoying comic relief - yet. No sappy music - yet (just stirring music whenever the lads put to sea). No mystical eggs. Jumong and Soseono - not quite the same endearing characters we came to know and love in JUMONG, were they? But however you look at them, Soseono was one tough broad. More power to her.

Actually I meant the king that he's playing.
Huh. Figures. I wonder which historical started that trend? Jumong?

I loved King Geunchogo first 2 episodes.Problem in ratings is probably caused by more serious cast.No boys acting kings and no soapoperish intrigues.First episodes actually teached me something.I hope they ignore ratings and continue way they started.

DJY started with low ratings (6% I think) but it became really popular in the later episodes. DJY actually reached 40% once

Will Yeogu end up with Yeohwa? I wonder...looking into research, it was recorded that Geunchogo married a woman from the Jin clan, the clan the first queen is from. Oh wait, looking at other episodes without subtitles, it looks like Yeohwa becomes Sayu's wife.

She's the only named young actress in the drama. Also the first queen of King Biryu is from Hae clan.

Still waiting to see subs for episodes 4-8. The early episodes remind me a lot of the early episodes of King Sejong (and not just because the same actress plays the queens). Lots of family melodrama and political jockeying. Rather like the Greek tragedies. Multiple royal wives + multiple royal sons + multiple in-laws spells trouble with a capital T. Spoilers: * * * * * * * * Gratuitous double jump off cliff and subsequent underwater bodice-ripping (Someone's been watching Pirates of the Caribbean). Gratuitous father-son back-scrubbing in the bathtub. No annoying comic relief. Good music.

SPOILERS ......... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Took a look at first ep. I find the reason for Yeogu's banishment most peculiar and spurious, the same as QSD. However, overall performance isn't bad.

Still, there are possibilities that new actors will come in later in the show. Besides, usually in historicals, romances never ended well. Then again... Yeohwa seems to be wearing a robe similar to that of the first queen, so yeah...it is possible they'll get together

Still a while before it hits the airwaves on these shores's as Jolly widow's redux minus not dead dad is only half way through its regurgitated run .

Alot of Korean women tend to have "hwa" in their names, don't they.
