Ah, so I was right about the conflict between the two royal bloodlines. Sort of.
Ah, so that was it. It must have been painful for him to treat his son that way in order to protect him. Typical tough love, but still well done.
I assumed that some of the armor in DJY was fantasy as well, though I could be wrong.
Y'know, ever since King Geunchogo started airing, you've become more active. I read that you prefer dramas outside of the Joseon period and since it seemed you weren't getting that (outside of Kim Soo Ro, though I'm guessing you dislike it-does Comrades also count?), you probably didn't feel like saying anything. Either that or you were just dang busy

Either that or you were just dang busy Some armors from DJY were fantasy too. I forgot to mention that. Yeah, I do prefer dramas outside of Joseon period. I didn't watch Kim Suro, because I knew that MBC would make a fantasy out of it. I watched Comrade when Kim Suro was airing. I prefer the KBS historicals, which are more accurate to real history. Chuno was extremlely popular, but I didn't watched that either cuz it was fantasy. I think Dong Yi was just horrible. Not only it was a Joseon period drama, the clothes and armors were very distant from real history. I can't believe they actually make a fantasy out of Joseon period, which has a vast amount of historical artifacts compared to the Three Kingdom period.

I don't mind the fantasy in the Joseon dramas you mentioned. Chuno wasn't really based on history and was more of about fictional characters in a certain time period. And the clothes in Dong Yi isn't really that big a deal. Costumes weren't the focus, but the story and characters were.
Since you're a stickler for accuracy, I guess you hate IYSS as well, a KBS historical.

Since you're a stickler for accuracy, I guess you hate IYSS as well, a KBS historical. No, IYSS was actually my second favorite historical of all time. No historical is 100% accurate to history. If that's what I'm looking for, I would be unable to watch any historicals. Compare IYSS and Jumong, which one do you think is more accurate to history? IYSS right? I didn't watch Jumong btw. Besides YSS is my favorite hero in Korean history so I had to watch that. Like I said earlier, I prefer the KBS historicals cuz they are more accurate to history(not 100% accurate). MBC historicals are just not my type. As for SBS, I'm not even sure if I can even call their dramas as historicals. I don't hate all Joseon period dramas. I'm just tired of Joseon dramas because there were too many in the past. Tears of the Dragon was my first-ever historical and I loved it. Even if it does have fantasy in it, there is some special feeling that traditional KBS weekend historical drama gives. Something that you can't feel when you watch MBC historical or KBS historicals on weekdays. King Geunchogo had hang-gliders on ep4, but I'm not gonna stop watching it unless it gets boring. I stopped watching IE at like ep20 cuz it got too boring. I don't hate all MBC fantasy historicals either. I actually watched QSD all the way from the beginning 'till the end. This was both my first and last MBC historical. I never watched DJG either.

Sorry if it seemed like I was being hostile to you truth. We all have our own opinions.
MBC historical or KBS historical, I watch both. I haven't seen a SBS historical at all.
MBC Jumong Good drama but overrated
Dae Jang Geum My favorite historical
Yi San Love it, hands down
Dong Yi It loses steam near the end but I like it nevertheless
Queen Seondeok Epic
KBS Immortal Yi Soon Shin My first historical, and to this day still remains one of my personal favorites. Alot of people tend to fuss about Won Gyun in the drama but whatever
Hae Shin It's been a long time since I last saw this one, but I think I liked it
Dae Jo Young Only saw the first few episodes, but it seems fun
Iron Empress I have nothing to say about this one.
Comrades One of those dramas that prove romance doesn't always have to be the heart of a drama. I love it

My list (taking off from DF): Jumong - too long, but almost everyone gave great performances. I thought the lead (Jumong) was overwhelmed by the part, particularly as the character aged, and that his character was TOO "good," saintly even, couldn't figure out how anyone could stand the guy. Thought Daeso had good reason to want him dead, or at least bleeding somewhere. LOL. Dae Jang-geum - excellent all around, but again the extended episodes came thisclose to destroying the whole series. I was so happy Lee Young-ae called a screeching halt to that nonsense. Yi San - still watching early eps, no opinion so far. But you know, Lee Sun-jae, Lee Seo-jin *and* Kyun Mi-ri? I might die of ecstasy. Dong Yi - good so far, but seems a little too DJG for me. I mean, I saw that one already. Queen Seondeok - On my list, haven't started watching. IYSS - Now THIS was epic. I watched it on my local K-station over the course of a year, and it just built and built. I also watched the cannibalized, shortened DVD version, which lost all its steam almost immediately. Something about this drama demands taking your time and absorbing what's happening (accepting it if you will), and then going on to the next episode. Savor it. ;D Have not seen Hae Shin, Dae Jo-young, IE or Comrades. I also have not seen Ladies (but I want to), Jang Gil-San, King's Woman, Yeon Gae Somun or Seo Donyeo. In fact, I don't think I've even heard of Jang Gil-San, Yeon Gae Somun or Seo Donyeo, so my opinion would not be worth much. I notice you don't mention Heo Jun. This may be because it was mostly boring and gross. At least, I thought so. I found the lead character a complete annoyance, and that guy happens to be one of my favorite actors. (He was also the king in Jumong and fantastic.) As for King and I, I saw that. At first, I was thrilled and thought it was the best sageuk I'd seen so far. Here, Jun Kwang-ryul (as the head eunuch and real star) was incredible, fantastic, a tour de force performance. All the actors were believable and mostly brilliant (even the kids). Then it fell into that stupid Ulwoodong story, an apparent attempt to goose ratings, which came close to ruining the whole thing. However, I thought it pulled itself back onto the tracks at the end, so I'd still recommend it. And my mother likes it, too. (She even likes Ulwoodong) ;D Bo

It does get better when he takes the throne. I also thought the kid who played Yunsan-gun as a child was fantastic. Really carried his part well. Bo

The ratings for Geunchogo isn't very hot.
If this keeps up, the number of episodes may reduce. There is always the possibility ratings will pick up later on. But what's with the low ratings? I guess the king isn't exactly that well known.

I guess the king isn't exactly that well known. If the king you are referring to is Kam Woo Sung,I think he is pretty well known in Korea. He's famous in movies,so this may be a step down?He has been the male lead in two dramas;ALONE IN LOVE and HYUNG JUNG,I LOVE YOU. He has picked quite a few awards along the way, though the most recent was in 2006! 14th Choon Sa Film Festival: Best Male Actor for "King and the Clown" (2006) 2006 Blue Dragon Film Festival: Best Couple (with Lee Jun Ki) in "King and the Clown" 43rd Grand Bell Awards: Best Leading Actor for "King and the Clown" (2006) 9th Audience Prize: Best Male Actor (2004) 2002 MBC Entertainment Awards: Best Dresser 2002 MBC TV Awards: Best Male Actor 2002 Grimae Film Festival: Best Male Actor for "Marriage is a Crazy Thing" 1st Korea Movie Awards: Best New Actor for "Marriage is a Crazy Thing" (2002)

I guess the king isn't exactly that well known. Biggest reason for the low rating is that people prefer fantasy historicals these days
