Well, it looks like the Big Kiss didn’t go as planned, for the next thing we know, Daepung is leaving Doctor Dad’s mansion with a bloody nose . . .
Daepung decides to give up, and he heads to Jeju Island for a few weeks to lick his wounds and heal his broken heart. And Boksil goes to the airport the next morning, meeting up with her old boyfriend at the airport for their scheduled flight to New York. But, before they board the plane, she tells him that she has something important to say to him . . .
*****
Doctor Dad (already recovered from his surgery) decides to check out Daepung’s neighborhood – and maybe do a little undercover work, too. Without disclosing his identity, he meets with Jinpung at the pharmacy, asking him about the children’s hospital that used to be there. Jinpung (who is maybe too honest for his own good) tells him that Daepung drove it into bankruptcy. ;D And then Daepung’s father arrives. He finds this mysterious man irritating, and he promptly leans down and farts into his face to prompt him to leave. Naturally, Doctor Dad makes a quick exit. Straight-laced Jinpung is horrified, but his dad thinks it’s altogether amusing.
On the way home, purely by accident, Doctor Dad meets up with an old school buddy . . . who just happens to be Seonpung’s FIL. (!) As they have drinks together, FIL calls to have an “old friend” join them. Of course, it’s Farting Dad, who is none too amused when he sees who he’ll be drinking with. Doctor Dad leaves, telling Farting Dad that they’ll be seeing each other again soon – a clue that Farting Dad doesn’t quite understand.
And later, as Doctor Dad is on his way home, we see him suddenly burst out laughing. It just dawned on him that Daepung is just like his father!

Eunji, to her horror, discovers that she pregnant. (!) She’s NOT happy: she’s just landed a big acting role, and now that she’s pregnant, it’s out the window!
*****
Back home, Boksil suddenly makes a surprise appearance. The family is delighted. And who would you guess is just returning from Jeju Island (and looking like a total wreck)?
Of course, it’s Daepung, who can’t believe his eyes when he arrives home to see Boksil there. And only now do we find out what transpired after the Big Kiss, for the frustrated Boksil didn’t actually hit Daepung, but she did knock him against a wall, and leave his nose bloodied.
Daepung spent the rest of the night outside Boksil’s bedroom door, profusely apologizing for everything he’s done to her, and begging Boksil to forgive him. And Boksil wanted to forgive him, and to tell him that she wasn’t going to leave for New York after all. But, then she fell asleep, and when she woke the next morning, Daepung had already given up, and left for Jeju!
Later, Daepung takes Boksil to the “best place for dinner,” which turns out to be the Chinese restaurant that took over his old children’s hospital. Boksil is annoyed, but as Daepung points out all the memories they shared in that room, she does soften up. And then he (finally) tells her flat-out that he loves her, and he presents her with a ring.
Boksil, somewhat in shock, runs away, and dashes down the stairs. But, then she relents – and she accepts the ring.

Mom asks Jinpung and Sujin to meet with her. Sujin fears the worst, but mom (who knows that Sujin is suffering) suggests that Jinpung and Sujin move in with Bruce, so they can help watch over his kids. Sujin is astonished at her MIL’s generosity, and she is truly grateful, though mom reminds them that she expects them to move back in with her once the kids are grown (or Bruce gets himself married).
*****
Soldier Dad tells Mipung that he’s found Suhui. She’s living in a tiny one-room apartment, and making a living sewing stuffed animals from home. Mipung rushes over to check on Hana, and it’s apparent that though he doesn’t love Suhui, he sure has developed a kind of fatherly love for Baby Hana.
*****
And Daepung and Boksil are finally married, in an all-too-briefly shown ceremony.
*****
Fast forward, as mom tells us everything that’s happened since . . .
Eunji had a baby boy.
Sujin also had a baby boy – and she’s got one more on the way!
Mipung finally got into college, and from there into the army. He meets up with the former Soldier Dad (who is now a civilian) and we see that Soldier Dad and Suhui have become a loving couple after all. And Mipung’s fellow soldiers can’t help but kid him about his “girlfriend” – the now three-year-old (and very adorable) Baby Hana.
And Daepung’s medical practice is back in business – with Boksil making sure that the business stays running in the black from now on.
Bruce and Miran never did become lovers, but they sure did become great drinking buddies. Will romance someday follow? It seems like a possibility.

There’s another community gathering at the family home, and as the men argue about neighborhood issues, mom tells her gathered DILs that “When you have four sons and raise them, you’ll want to kill them time and time again.” But later, speaking to herself, mom wraps things up by saying:
“I lived a pretty decent life. It was difficult to live with all of them, but seeing them grow up and get married to their wives, I succeeded in my life. A stupid lady who doesn’t know anything. A violent mother who hits her sons whenever she punishes them. But, after everything is done and over with, I’m sure they’ll understand how much I have suffered for them.
“Yes, life isn’t special. I didn’t learn much, and don’t own much. But raising my sons well to live a good life, to be good to others, to the neighbors, and to the country. That’s enough.
“Anyway, they have to live a good life, as trouble-free as possible, until I die.”
