Ok I haven't been on here in a while but need a question answered. Early on in IE, there was a "Robin Hood" type guy stealing provisions from the Fort, guarded by the fat hairy eyebrows guy. He was well trained in the Baehlen type of fighting that was noticed by Generral Gang Jo. I thought I read he would reappear in the later episodes, do we get to see him again before the show ends?

That would be Yang Kyu, a very cool character.

gworks, what episode are you watching now? That was Yang Kyu and he does show up again, but what more we can say about him depends on what episode you're on.

This is a spoier thread, right? So I can say Yang Kyu dies a hero in the end. He was never on Wonsoon's side at all, just spying. And BtW, WHO is the actor who played Yang Kyu. I want to see more of him but can't find his name anywhere. (It's written in Hangul on the KBS website; no help.)
As for the PM, I agree that this drama was more disappointing than bad. I adore historicals and tend to be more forgiving of them than the contemps. But some IE stuff was way too over the top.
They ruined Gang Jo, one of my favorite early characters, with that endless obsession for ChunChu. He even looked longingly at her on his wedding day! And the last name on his lips as he dies was hers. If you remember, Hyangbi's last word was "Husband." Towards the end, when Gang Jo buffalos his way to restore the throne to IE and she says, "get over it already", well, that was just silly.
Mokjong's acting was top of the line in spite of the quagmire the writers put him into vis-a-vis the gay thing. And Lady Yunheung's reversal from temperance to vengeance didn't ring true. I guess it didn't with the writers either because they had to make her go mad.
And speaking of Lady Yunheung, what happens to her in the end? We never see her again after the next-to-last epi.
The villians were uniformly good, Wonsoon and the snarky traitor who gets poisoned in the last epi. Saila was heart-breaking and I loved the Khitan Empress and her flathead lover.
The leads however, were stiff, probably out of their depth. I heard that Chiyang performed most of his scenes in a body cast but what was her excuse? There was more than bad writing at fault in her case. From the very first scene, when she shows up at the fort in battle armor, I went, "What goes on here?" I was so used to the believable actress who played her as a girl (Conversely, the actor who took over the role of the Dowager Khitan Empress' son, Shenzong was it? was much better than his predecessor.)
I give this drama a 6, the average between some 10 scenes and some 2 scenes. It's only my second historical after DJY and a very weak comparison.

Puppy, Lady Yunheung did show up in the final episode, but unfortunately her appearance was edited out of what was broadcast in some cities. Apparently your city got shafted too. Her appearance is covered in the episode summary.
Enjoyed reading what you (and everybody else around the country) thought about the series. It looks like the series is finished everywhere now, so we'll be moving this board to the off-air section in a few days. Just an FYI.

puppy, you watch on WMBC, right? ajk said the last episode was increased to 70 minutes which means WMBC cut over 20 minutes. If you read his fabulous summary, you will see the whole middle part was edited out......

I stand corrected--Philadelphia still has three more episodes to go. Generally we'd move these boards to off-air not long after the Chicago airing wrapped up, but the other moderators have been nice about letting this one stay since there's nothing coming up to follow IE. I have to say, it's nice to have a bit of a break between series, but let's hope we get some good news from somebody soon.

Just read the excellent summary, mara, and boy did MBC ever cut the final epi! They generally run from about 9:10 to 9:55. I wonder why they just didn't run it as two 35-min episodes. Then we would have been able to see the entire thing.
This happened a lot in IE; not so much in the weekday dramas tho I suspect when they started running commercial breaks, we did lose some content.
I wish WMBC wasn't the only game in town for us.
