Some time in the past few months someone had posted a comment about a news article-- I think from the NY Times-- it was about unwed mothers in Korea, I showed the article to my kids and my daughter (sophmore in high school) decided to use the article for a school project. She made a tri-fold display and wrote a research paper. I looked for the past post, because I wanted to thank the person for making the post, my daughter told me today that she did so well on the research paper that her teacher wants to keep a copy to use for teaching future students!!! I am sooo proud of her I wanted to pass along my grateful thanks for that post! No grade for the tri-fold display, but I am guessing it will also be good!

Ah, bird, I remember that, too! I don't remember where the post appeared however. I would expect it was in Generals. Congratulations to your daughter.

bird11, it was ajk that started the thread in (Off Air). The drama was The Road Home. It's under "Topic: great article about unwed mothers in South Korea" HERE

Was mine and you're more than welcome. I posted it on the board for "The Road Home" because that series was just wrapping up when the article appeared and the series dealt with the single-mom topic.
If you're ever looking for something posted in the forum, there's a "search" icon up at the top of the screen that you can use. Just type in the keyword(s) you're looking for and it will find the post(s) for you. The only tricky part to it is that at the bottom of the search screen, you have to specify how many days back into the past the search should cover.
Another thing you can do is simply click on your forum name. That will let you review as many of your past posts as you like, and you can find things that way.
Any chance your daughter might share the paper with us? I'm sure we'd all enjoy reading it. She can just copy-and-paste the text into a post if she's willing.
P.S. Or she can just tack it onto a new post as an attachment. I keep forgetting the forum has an attachment option now.

Thanks- I did tried to search but probably wasn't using the right words to search with! I already told her I wanted to post it and she even agreed to help me do that! I am waiting for her to bring the tri-fold home so we could post that, too. Hopefully we will do that soon......

Ok, I need help. I finally got my daghter to email me a copy of her report, but when I went to Imageshack to try and post it, it would not accept the "file type" (rft). Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks

Is there some way you can do a "save as" on the document (on your computer). Try it. Open the document, and try either "save as" (or "print"--see below). Save it as a PDF if it will allow you. (A PDF is like a photograph.) Then try posting that.
On some systems, you don't "save as" to get a PDF but, rather, you go to the print menu and there's a little dropdown menu that lets you save things as PDFs. (My Mac does this.)
Also, I'll ask knov1 if he has any ideas, he's our big techie guy, not to say nobody else knows anything but, you know, I don't. LOL.

Open the document on your computer to full screen. Make sure the text is legible. Hit the PrtScn button above the Insert button). You can then follow this tutorial for making a screenshot.... forum.koreandramas.net/topic_858.htmlNOTE: the tutorial has pics to guide you.

When you click "reply" to post something on an existing thread, there now is an attachment option right up near the top so that you can attach a file to the reply. So click on "reply"; then click on the "browse" button that's next to the attachment line and you should be able to attach the paper from wherever in your computer you have it saved.
I've never done it, but it seems like it should work. If it doesn't work, then I'm sure knov1 can suggest something.

Ok-- thanks for all the help! I retried this using Imageshack and posted the first half of my daughter's article. I hope that works, I looked for a way to post it, but couldn't find it. I will try and post the rest of the article in the next post....Hope you enjoy reading it.

I think I may understand how to do this now- but am in no hurry to try again ;D Please try to read this and let me know what you think.........

So far, I've only been able to read the first few lines (I'm at work), but it looks like a very good paper. She is well-spoken. The lines are long on the screen, but I clicked to enlarge, put on my glasses and went to work.
LOL.

I have been sitting here wondering something. Pardon me if I somehow missed the discussion on all this but, why not just cut and paste the paper into a post?

I thought about doing that, but the paper was so long that the post would have been 1/2 page long and I didnt think that was the "right" way to do it.
