and we are close to the end of the drama, so threads are getting wrapped up - sort of- last week, Cho-won's stepmother came to visit her MIL and begged MIL to remember how sweet & nice CW was when MIL first met her. CW also came in to MIL room to win her over and MIL began to remember that she didn't always hate CW.
At some point CW had brought her shrine to the in-laws house even tho both Mrs Bu and her stepmother had said leave it at stepmother's home.
The spirits are angry but not telling anyone why. Every time Mrs Bu tries to light her candles, the spirits blow them out. Cho-Won went to pray to her spirits and went into a trance; in her trance state she marched up the hill at night, all happy to see her spirit mother & carrying a paper lantern to light her way. The doors open and the spirit mother throws a pan of water on her paper lantern, dousing the light, at this point, CW collapses in her room and her MIL walks in to ask why she hasn't made lunch yet and finds her passed out on the floor. There is a ambulance run to the hospital where CW is now unresponsive and everyone comes to her room to check on her. Cho-Won is in a coma in this world, but in her mind she is wandering around a foggy patch of scrubland calling out to anyone who can hear her..... and someone with a deep voice answers.....
Meanwhile, MIL's private nurse comes running up to MIL, who is actually holding up pretty well so far, and tells her that a private room has already been reserved for her in case she feels ill again! (gotta love it!)
Mi-yeong is apparently pregnant again (she had a miscarriage awhile back and her MIL is so happy that now she doesn't want MY to anything but bring the baby to term. "I'll throw you out into the street if you have another miscarriage!") Somebody really wants a grandbaby! MY then clears the air about all the money she is spending to make the places look nice, it turns out that she has a florist license and went to the early morning market and got flowers cheap and arranged them herself.
Last week MY enlisted her husband to schlep all the fabrics leftover in the storeroom out to the neighborhood and sell them off in some plot to make money. This week we find out that not only was MY selling fabrics but she was also throwing in a 'bonus' of extra herbal medicines, to be delivered at a later date. When the medicines arrive, MIL discovers the plan and says "No way!" but then finds out that MY has promised using MIL as the owner of the hanbok shop as a reference, as well as her FIL's clinic. So off they go. (very Lucy & Ethel)
Next scene is MY's husband and FIL are hanging out in the living room wondering where's the womenfolk & dinner, when they get a phone call. "What? Police station? MIL also?! BAil?" and run out the door. Then they all traipse back into the living room again where FIL is mad at MIL and yells at her, MY's hubby tries to remember that he is supposed to be mad at MY, but she comes home with his favorite sausages and says "Let's eat!" and he happily agrees. (where she found time to score his favorite snacks between getting arrested and getting bailed out is just one of k-drama's little mysteries....)
Meanwhile, Si-Mong is being expected to cook some squid for the family dinner and doesn't have a clue. Her brother says it's really good stirfried with chilipaste, & she goes off to her room to look at recipes while her family is playing cards. They get tired of the card game and come out looking for dinner and she seems to have fallen asleep across her bed while looking at recipes, so her husband says, OK, I will boil it and it will be fine. Her mother tries to wake her up with scolding and slapping her on the butt, but she is a good sleeper!
Back in CW's hospital room, her dad is in there holding her hand and getting the scoop from her stepmother. He is displeased to find out there had been some violence and CW had a bruise on her face. He wants to take her home when she recovers. Mu-Bin walks in on that conversation and backs out of the room. Later he goes back to her bedside and is watching her face as she starts to smile and he hopes she is having good dreams. then her eyes open......but does she really see him?
