As you probably know, here in the Chicago area we have lost ALL our KBS dramas. We no longer see any KBS programs.
I am curious to know if the viewers in the New York and New Jersey area still get on the air(free) KBS dramas?

I am not in NJ/NY, but in Philadelphia, PA we're still seeing Cheonchu. (this applies to South Jersey as well)
There was a comment by a station manager before the Saturday episode, about being one of the few stations in the nation still airing Korean dramas.

Here’s thread from the Philly board discussing this matter. forum.koreandramas.net/topic_7438.html?postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=90&sid=39b6497841cfc5ab4bc7ef0a6a83f66dThe thread was originally entitled “KBS Free to Air” . . . but the later pages are mostly about how KBS is gone from the airwaves now. You can still get it on cable, though. Here’s one pertinent comment: From KBS Amreica's Website: "Starting Nov. 1st. 2009, KBS WORLD will be no longer available with a terrestrial service (WMBC 63.5) in NY/NJ area. Instead, you can watch KBS WORLD on Time Warner Cable (Ch 532) or CableVision (Ch 261). Please refer to "Schedule/Channel Info" page for detailed service coverage and program schedule. If you have any question about KBS WORLD in NY/NJ area, please use our 'Contact Us' form. "

I get the same as dodgerman - from what I have read - what we get is the equivalent of WMBC 63.1 - they have four or five substations.... .2, .3, .4 and .5 - KBS was 63.5. Those substations were over the air stations not on cable - where I live, I can't get any stations over the air.....

The Philadelphia area has Comcast cable, and I think there's Fios in some areas. If KBS stops air broadcasting from MindTV that will be the end for me! I don’t spend enough time watching TV to justify the cost of cable or satellite. I sincerely hope MindTV doesn't end up like the rest of the country. I'd be mortified as well. You know, when cable first came out their big claim was “No commercials!!!” Ha ha ha!

I'm surprised MindTV hasn't already dumped the few Korean shows it airs. I'm sure you've noticed they're selling the abridged version (33 episodes) of IYSS again for $300. I wonder if they do anything similar for the hours and hours of Indian TV they show? They seem to be targeting the K-dramas.

like brooklyn, I get IE and JW on cable channel 20 in NYC and on WMBC digital18 out of Newton, NJ, when I'm in Pike County, PA.
In NY, I get adverts for a couple of Korean only subscription channels but they seen to air mostly religious programs, news, and game shows, all without subs. I wish there was an all K-movie, K-drama channel with English subtitles. I wish I knew how to start one. I know all you guys would subscribe if the price was right.
