CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT TIME ARE THEY SHOWING THE SOAPS I KEEP GOING ON DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY AND ALL I SEE IS NEWS AND VIDEOS BUT NO DRAMAS!!! I know you're upset by this situation, we all are, but please try not to shout (all caps) here, dear. Arirang only shows one soap. It is discussed here: Heaven's FateYou'll notice the one existing thread discusses the showtimes and episode numbers. I'm afraid that's all they've got, and I'm sure discussion will pick up once people get into the show. Bo PS - Sorry soju, I posted before I saw yours, but I think there's additional info in mine so I'll leave it.

Hello everyone, just to let u know,I am not korean nor asian but a great fan of the K-Drama's which I faithfully have watched for years now-it is of no use to call,wire,e-mail ANYTHING to WOCH ch 41 Chicago...they completelt ignor everything-I refuse to watch Arirang as it is such an amatuer station and the K-drama's do much more to promote Korea than Arirang.In my opinion,the thing to do is CONTACT ALL THE ADVERTISERS and give them our disappointment and make them see that since we won't watch, we won't buy their products.. would that help, write your imput-I have contacted some of the advertisers by going to a market called Super H-Mart.Thanks much...If that wonderful talented actor Mr. Choi Soo Jong will soon have a new Drama and we cannot watch it will all of us suffer from heart failure. very funny eh? thamjs much.

jolson, it's NOT WOCH that's the problem - it's KBS, the producer and owner of the K-dramas. They have removed ALL of their content from our WOCH, and also from some channels in CA and NY. KBS does not have a free channel anywhere that I know of . . however, you can watch some of the k-dramas on various web-sites. i.e. Mysoju, dramafever, veoh, etc. Please do not be angry at WOCH, they did NOTHING wrong to cause KBS to remove all of its properties from our channel. If you want to vent, please vent at the proper party - KBS .. It seems that it was a corporate decision to do this.. I feel very sad that we do not have the wonderful K-dramas and other really good Korean programming that KBS has offered but it was not a CHOICE of WOCH to stop all KBS shows. I'm sure WOCH is as upset as we are. KBS should understand that backlash is a serious thing here in the USA - as I'm sure they will eventually discover.

I'd bet the advertisers are angry too, because they've probably paid ahead for advertising, but where is it?? What did the shopkeepers at Super H-Mart say when you talked to them?

is there a way we could consolidate advertisers and list them here on the board? The only way I can think of is to watch WOCH and when a commercial comes on, write down the name of the sponsor - There are still a few restaurants that are advertising and others - I'm not watching it too often only for the first round of the documentaries etc - I really don't need to watch the same things 3x a day LOL. But Kathleen, for what purpose would you need this information? We all now know that it's not WOCH or the problem they had with the fiber optics or whatever, It was, in fact, a corporate decision on the part of KBS . That unsubstantiated rumor about a contract dispute may have been PART of the problem but I think KBS had already decided to suspend airing any of their products on WOCH, just as they did with the other low frequency channels. What's so annoying to me is that NOW Comcast is airing WOCH in its basic package. The corporate world is a cold unfeeling place as we all know . . this just reinforces that fact. .

It seems that it was a corporate decision to do this... From what I heard this is true... I know someone who works for a WOCH sponsor, and after the station stopped broadcasting KBS programming, there was a large group that thought that if WOCH stopped broadcasting KBS dramas, the sponsor's company must be failing too... The boss of the sponsor company spoke with the boss of WOCH, and the reason given was that KBS tripled the monthly cost of programming at the last contract renewal...In fact. it wasn't even a negotiation...It was take it or leave it deal, and they knew WOCH couldn't afford it, so they basically said "No more KBS Ktv for Chicago" unless you pay!!!!!! I thought that this might have been talk to quiet the sponsors. But then I found this article about the president of KBS... Here is a quote from the "president" of KBS... ``KBS's most important task is raising the fee. I will make every effort to make it happen by next year,'' said Kim In-kyu, president of the network, in a speech during his inauguration last Tuesday. He's talking about raising the fee Koreans have to pay to watch Korean TV, but if he's going to screw over his own people, is it that hard to think he's going to bone us first??? I hope MBC doesn't follow his example... Here is the full article... LINK

Hello everyone,have just read some of the comments re:whats going on with KBC/KBS thanks for the info from Neko for KBS America, I will write and fax them to see what is going on. One of the comments was that the real problem is that KBS has raised their price..I also spoke to a gentleman(Korean) and he confirmed that fact. So where do we stand-all of us are in the same mode, aggravated, sad and it seems no one really cares what we the public think. I don;t mean to be so negative, but there must be someone out there in a position of power who cares. Arirang is ridiculous repeat and repeat all day and night the same programs. I will take the sponsors names and try to contact as many as I can here in chicago. I am leaving for the Netherlands end of month so will try to read the board from there when time permits. Have a happy holiday to all.

Such a good post, jolson1933. Those in charge have no concept at all of Customer Service. I SO miss our Korean dramas. Heavens Fate is ok only because there are several very famliar actors/actresses. Other than that, Arirang is a huge ongoing commercial.
- - - there must be someone out there in a position of power who cares. I'm certain that we all concur. Hope springs eternal as they say.
Wishing you safe travel to the Netherldands. We'll look forward to any comments that you have time to share.

Has anyone thought of e-mailing KBS directly? My experiences in the past have been that they will respond to viewers' e-mails especially when they realize you are part of a group AND you are not Korean. Be patient though - it is the peons who first get the e-mails and it must be passed up the chain.
An ideal situation would be if you guys picked a person as your representative. Ideally this representative would contact KBS and express your concerns and include excerpts from other people's e-mails or a link to this thread.
All Korean tv companies are fascinated with their nonKorean viewing audience. Thus the reason you need to point out in the beginning that you are not Korean. I honestly don't think they realize how many non Korean fans they have out there. In the beginning we were treated as something of a curiosity. They have gotten used to us by now but you guys would be relatively new.
I don't know anything about the current CEO of KBS America but the past CEO had an open door policy when it came to e-mails.
Last but not least - the higher up the food chain your rep is, the higher up the food chain will respond. Ie, our initial contact with KBS was made by a Moderator on my site. The response came from a midlevel manger at KBS. Once I got pulled into the loop, responses to my queries typically came from a department head or the CEO.

Have a happy holiday in the Netherlands!

RE:Latest News from my end CH41
Hallo Neko, I am Jolson 1933 -am not to good at this computer stuff and had a hard time getting back onto this site...nor am I learned in all you great K-Drama fans language on this system. It has been some time since I logged in. Hope I did it correct. I left Chicago around Christmas and am currently in the Netherlands(Holland). Here is the latest news that I have as of 29 Dec. 09. When I call WOCH CH41 and speak to anyone who speaks English they listen for about a minute and then one can tell they are not paying any further attention. There is also a Korean Market not to distant from my home and speaking with the people there, they are as UPSET about what is going on and the loss of the Drama's..strangely enough, they told me in a couple of the shops that several Englisg speaking shoppers have also complained to them besides me-I try to keep it pleasant as I don't want to annoy the shop owners as it is not their fault. Then I stopped in a shop (very small -I can't even remember what they actually sell there) but spoke with the owner for awhile, he told me that the OWNER of the Station is Korean and a Very Wealthy man but that KBS raised their prices to purchase all these great drama's we were getting by more than DOUBLE what he was paying and so the Owner is trying to negociate something to get our drama's back. Whether this is true or just a story I do not know. however there really was no need for that person (sorry I did not get his name as he was beginning to close the shop) but there was no need for him to tell me this and I told him I appreciate it. He did in passing say "KEEP UP THE PRESSURE" notifying the station that you no longer are interested in watching ARIRANG, miss the GREAT DRAMA'S and the actors etc etc etc and whenever possible keep telling the ADVERTISERS that you no longer watch CH41. So that is my end of the story - I will be actually in Germany but when I am on computer will be in Netherlands (my family lives on boarder of Germany&Netherland and when I return to Chicago will strat again to check with People there if any further news. As for now I will try to read your messages on computer as that way I also get more news from all you great fans. Hope you all had a great New Year - healthy and Happy.

Jolson1933, thanks for telling us what people are saying in Korean neighborhoods. It's discouraging that this has gone on so long. Don't they think about how our pleasant "addiction" has weakened with this time off? For me, making dinner is easier without trying to fit in a drama that starts at a different time every evening. I don't even have to be home by 5:30 anymore. sigh. Probably I'd come right back to dramas again, but KBS shouldn't count on it. (Hey, KBS, what do you think all your viewers are doing now, sitting in the dark? They're finding alternatives, aren't they?) {Is KBS the network, btw? That's the one I'm talking about, not our local station.}
