Those of us who watch The Road Home have noticed a streaming message regarding Roh Moo Hyun 's death in the mountains. I subscribe to a Korean magazine, KoreAm. According to the article, the death was a suicide. Despite his poor upbringing and non-traditional education, he rose to power. But alas, in April he was questioned by state prosecutors. The 10-hour questioning focused on accepting $6 million in bribes - resulting in the interrogation and arrest of several of his aides and family members, including his wife, children, and brother. On May 23 he hurled himself off of a 100-foot cliff near his rural home ... he later died from head injuries at a Busan hospital. He was 62. H left a suicide note: " I can't begin to fathom the countless agonies down the road. The rest of my life would only be a burden for others"Pretty sad.

How tragic!!! Embezzlers, con men, and thieves should face the music and be punished, but how sad that they feel suicide is the only way out.
Kathleen- is that magazine published in English or Korean? What type of material does it cover? I might be interested in subscribing. The two magazines that I subscribed to have both stopped publishing, due to financial difficulties.
Thanks

The KoreAm Joournal is in English .. wth lovely Korean script in various ads. Some of the JUNE articles: Freeing Minds - San Quentin State prison is home to death row inmates ... and a Korean History course / A wonderful article on Korean Chefs (including one of the competitors for the FOOD Network, next star - Debbie Lee, who is very well liked by the judges)
The KJournal covers a wonderful variety of topics - art, science, medicine, current events, politics - accompanied by beautiful photos.
$28 (12 issues) 82 pages. When i signed up for this publication I was very concerned as to what language it would be in. I was very relieved to discover that it was English. It is published from Gardena, CA (877) 869 0787. Hope this info is helpful.
I know how shocked I was to read about the suicide of Roh Moe Hyun because that innocent little info stream on The Road Home made me believe it was an accident. Not so.

Thanks, Kathleen. I will contact them. I really miss the magazines that I had, although they mostly covered the entertainment/ modelling industries.

Kathleen, thanks for the details. Very sad. I suppose his relatives were pretty happy for a while. He didn't make them take the money. sigh.
