This drama has been trashed a lot, especially by us East Coast folk, for being slow, repetitious, a boilerplate for hundreds of other stories, and hard to swallow. All that is true to some extent yet I keep watching as do most of us. Maybe it's because there are a few good things in it, like my top ten:
1)The way, no matter what's going on, everybody sits down and eats together, usually pretty elaborate meals. 2) How nicely they dress - no baggy jeans and ratty sneakers 3) Nobody's pierced 4) The devotion to Coma Doc 5) Jisu, Suin's brother, and Hiro 6) How they pull all-nighters at work without griping 7) Elder respect 8) Relationships that don't start in bed 9) Nice, new cars 10) Fancy food presents for any occasion
I just realized that many of these "good" things span several dramas and are really cultural. Still, I like them on the Road.

Your reasons are well received puppy. I admire all the young actors and actresses as they could probably make more taking trashy-type roles. I love the dramas for all the reasons you listed... it's the reason I became addicted so many years ago. ... and I always love seeing the older actors/actresses who assume such very different roles and carry them off beautifully. We have quite a few 'repeat performers' in this drama. Watching these Korean dramas offer a great escape from what we know is reality... rudeness, sloppiness, shallow goals, 'me-me-me ... all that stuff. Thanks puppy, for reminding me why I so enjoy the dramas.

Ah yes, puppy, this is a really good thread. Numbers 2, 3, and 8 are three of my main reasons for watching K-dramas. For us to get so worked up and emotionally involved shows how good these actors and actresses are at their job even when the plotlines are weird.

I also like the fact that Hyeonsu's co-workers are real workers not like the 3 Stooges who worked with Sabby for Subin on YAMD. Jisu is the best thing about the show. I loved the scenes of her having a drink with her Dad and then with Hyeonsu when he was upset. She would be a great co-worker, friend or girl friend.

This drama has been trashed a lot, especially by us East Coast folk, for being slow, repetitious, a boilerplate for hundreds of other stories, and hard to swallow. I thought those *were* the good points… it's the lying and the drinking and the cheesy and inane final episodes in so many of these dramas that drive me mad. But there are good points as you say. Some of mine are: The way everyone bows to each other, even arch enemies. The spectacular scenes and locations we see with great lighting and composition. The soundtracks with songs that won't leave your head, even years after you've heard them. And #1 on my list is the subtitles… without which none of us would be here to begin with.
