The actor who plays King Sungjong (episode 1) and Wakizaka in IYSS, also played General Gom Mojam in DJY. He made the bad decision to support Go Anseung for the next king, but ended up being killed by Anseung. You're right jojo. Kim Myung-su was also in The Divine Weapon and Kingdom of the Winds. I'm happy to see Kim Ho-jin as Prince Gyeongjuwon. I haven't seen him since Yellow Handkerchief and Seoul 1945. Park Ji Bin playing the Prince Imperial, Wang Song, also played the young Yi San. He's so cute.

I am a little confused with this story, and I know that one of you will be able to help me "get it". Why is the Grand-mother's younger grand-son next in line for the throne. Doesn't the Emperor have a child? I thought there was a scene where he killed the child's mother in front of the child?

I'll try to help, door60. The king who killed his wife was King Gwangjong, the fourth king of Goryeo. That was a historical flashback scene; we don't see Gwangjong at any other time in the series. The boy who saw it happen was their son, the future King Gyeongjong, fifth king. Right now, where you're at in the story, the grandson Wang Chi/Prince Hwangjuwon is the leading contender for the throne because of his lineage and because Gyeongjong has no male children of his own.
I know, it's tough to tell the players without a scorecard.

Thanks, ajk. So, just to make sure I got this straight....The current Emperor saw his father killing his mother, correct?

Yep, that's correct. Small wonder the guy's a psychological mess.

I'm not at all liking the brother of the new tandem-Empresses. He's so whiney, always complaining then apologizing then complaining again. Last Sunday, he fell for the slimey businessman's daughter {sorry, I don't have the names yet; we're only at Ep 4. (or is it 5?)}who wants to be his queen. He already has two wives, no? So did the Emperor and now he has four. I thought kings and emperor's and the like had multiple concubines but only one wife at a time.

Prince Chi is very impatient but then his grandmother comes off a little shady and hasty. I think he only has that one wife that welcomed him back but he just walked off and didn't acknowledge her. Whenever they come back from the commercial breaks, I feel a bit lost, maybe something's being omitted each time.

brooklyn, you may be absolutely right about the commercial breaks. I'm not sure how they're airing the episodes in NY, but what seems to be going on is that some of the episodes are running long--at least 65 minutes not including commercials--and the stations are cutting into the episodes to shorten them. We've had some significant cuts made here in the Chicago airings and have had some very confusing moments, just like you describe.

We start here at about 9:10, after the news, and end 9:55'ish which makes for about a 45 min episode. Plus, there are two commercila breaks each only about a minute long but still annoying.
The cuts sure aren't done professionally like a director does his movie cuts. Sometimes a character has his mouth open to answer another character and, zip! we get the Zojirushi (or whatever) elephant commercial or 60 seconds of rapid Korean about channel changes. When we come back, the scene has moved on.
It should be OK once I'm into the story and have the people straight but right now it's maddening!

Can someone explain to me who the "Vagabond" Prince is ? Is he another cousin of the Emperor?

I agree with ajk and brooklyn, there are parts of each episode that we are not seeing. I know that WMBC is now putting in commercials but after reading ajk's episode summary I see that we are actually missing a lot. Episode 6 we didn't see the whole baby birth part and after reading previous episode summaries we are missing a lot more than Chicago. Thanks to ajk summaries at least I can keep on top of things.

Yes, thanks ajk - your summary - so far have read Ep. 1 and 2 - is terrific. Even though I watched those episodes twice there was obviously a lot cut out as quite a bit is completely unfamiliar to me. And thanks snoopdog for your post - I am new to this board and didn't realize (or didn't look hard enough) that there were episode summaries.
