I don't remember that explanation either, grayson. Did we see it happen already or is it coming up? I vaguely remember that being revealed in the beginning of the show. Sometime around the memorial service for the deceased brother.

That may be, but I don't remember it either. It sounds like a logical explanation, in keeping with the trend of the story line. (crazy, self-centered, trouble-making aunt).

Grayson is correct. It was told in ep 2:
Chilnam had taken $500 that Yongseon had worked for. She wanted to divorce him for it, and called Yongjun to be a witness for her.
He, in turn, called Yonghwan, who rushed over to confront Chilnam, but got in an accident on the way, and was killed, leaving behind his pregnant wife, Seonyeong, on her birthday.
Yongseon and Yongjun both blame themselves, because, if they hadn't made the calls, Yongwhan would still be alive.

Ohhh, no wonder he's so angst-y about his brother after all this time. What a mess. Thanks, Soju!

Ditto, soju. I was still paying close attention at Ep. 2. Don't know how I missed that.

What is going on ? Now that Hyeonsu knows that Suin is not the real daughter of his "aunt" (don't really know why he considers her the aunt since she is no longer married to his blood uncle) you would think that Hyeonsu would be ecstatic that there is nothing technically wrong in their being together....yet he acts as if nothing happened. What are the writers thinking?

And his mother too. She was surprised and thoughtful when she found out. Then....nothing. How about Hyeonsu letting Suin go from the office by herself? I was afraid BullyBoy would grab her. He didn't, she went to see him. Too risky because he's so dangerous, IMO. Then tonight she looked like she was buying BullyBoy's apology on his knees. She won't, will she?

That bothered me too, ginnycat. Suin isn't related to him and actually never really was. (Plus, in some K-dramas I've seen, adopted children are considered secondary family members so why all the fuss?) ************why isn't Hyeonsu happier? Last night he told his mom not to worry, that even tho Suin *********, he's have nothing to do with her and was still quitting. He said earlier that letting Suin go the first time was a mistake. Has he learned nothing?
And Jisu. Come on! She's nearly thirty, works in fashion (a fast-paced profession) and wears spray-on jeans. Yet she keeps telling Hiro "All this is new to me." I can't believe she's never had a date before.

[deleted a bit/related to spoiler] I don't know what number episode we're on here though.

Yes, please be aware that different cities see a particular episode on different dates. I think New York is about a week ahead of Chicago. Please avoid posting what might be considered a spoiler in the main board. If you must comment an something you just saw, and are ahead of Chicago, please post it in the 'Spoilers' or 'New York' threads.

Sorry Soju and Ginny. Bad mistake. I must have thought I was in the NY thread. I'll be more careful.

I felt so bad for Suin!! Her heart is broken.. I really like the name Konji. Is it a boys name or girls? or can it be used for both?

I feel sorry that she lost the baby too but can you imagine having Seongtae as a father?! Suin definitely would've needed to go into hiding once the child was born. I remember in the drama High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth, when Eunju was pregnant, her sister Eunha called the baby "kongal". It must be something similar.

What are the writers thinking? I made a family tree, with 3 colors, because I'm having trouble keeping track of the blood relations. Jisu is still related to Hyeonsu, but they're cousins, not brother and sister. Suin has no blood relationship at all to Hyeonsu; her adoptive mother is a widow of one of the brothers. hmph. Also true for Shinae and Juho, no relation at all. I can see that there would be problems in some cases, where an adult somehow fills 2 slots, one on each side, but with these couples, they all have a set of parents. What's the problem? (In the movie Chinatown, Jack Nicholson asks Faye Dunaway what her relationship is to a young woman. She's my sister. Slap! She's my daughter. Slap! This situation is so much simpler, even if I need a diagram.)

Suin & Hyensou's relationship is a snorefest, and so is Jisu & Hiro -- as far as I'm concerned.
