Suin's adoptive Mom is Jisu's real Mom. I believe that she thought Jisu was dead, and that is why she did not contact her. I don't think she abandoned Jisu intentionally. I also believe the Aunt (the one who's husband just got the cab) had something to do with her thinking Jisu was dead.

I cant believe Stalker Girl Chow Fun. She's been on one date with the guy and she's calling his Mom "Mother". Is that normal in Korea. in the US, anywhere ?? And yes if I got it right, Jisu's real Mom is Suin's adoptive Mom.

So then Dorrie, Suin's adoptive mom is Jisu's adoptive mom's sister-in-law??? (I get confused) who didn't disappear but stayed in Korea, married, had two more kids, adopted another (Suin)(why we don't know) and didn't contact her firstborn daughter (Jisu??) in twenty-seven years, again we don't know why. It's odd that she's supposed to be saintly and maternal (according to purple-haired hubby) yet she wants Suin to abort. Why doesn't she just tell her to give the baby up like she did? Like I said in my previous post: this is getting interesting. Suin,if I'm not wrong,is the biological daughter of her Dad from a previous relationship;hence her Dad's strong feelings for this daughter. Jisu is the resultant daughter(out-of-wedlock) via union between Suin's step-mom and Hyeosu's dead uncle.By the way, don't you think she has a lovely personality,as does her brother,Hyeonsu? Jisu's househelp-aunt seems to have a real chip on her shoulder and a very loud, tactless mouth to boot! Suin's stepmom knows it's taboo to be a single mom. This often leads to shunning by the public in general(hence,NO future marriage prospects),embarassment brought upon Suin's family as a whole as well as probable unpleasant experiences for the future child when schooling, viz.ridicule and ostracization by fellow schoolmates. That's why she wants Suin to abort. I cant believe Stalker Girl Chow Fun. She's been on one date with the guy and she's calling his Mom "Mother". Is that normal in Korea. in the US, anywhere ?? It's funny you posted this.I was thinking the same, myself.Oddly enough, she played Hong Gil Dong's personal Stalker Girl too.Stereotyped? This calling of the "boyfriend's" mom as "Mother" seems to be the norm in other dramas as a sign of mom's approval of their relationship. This, though, can be aggravating for the recepient-mom when she doesn't approve of the relationship!!

Pilseung: I missed the part where you learned that Jisu was conceived out of wedlock. Did they say that, or is that what you're guessing? I was under the impression that the family was in an accident, and that is how Jisu's father died, and that Jisu's mother thought Jisu was dead too. Now I am wondering where I got that info from -- am I imagining things or was that part of the script, or maybe I read it somewhere???

Dorrie
Yes,Jisu's real mom thinks she is dead.I also think tactless aunt made her think that...a guess!Out-of-wedlock....pure deduction.No-one mentioned it so far that I remember.I figure that if Jisu was born after marriage...why would her mom leave her or think her dead? Why else would her uncle bring her up as his own in secret?

I think that the tactless aunt did not like Jisu's real mother for whatever reason (maybe because she didn't want to lend her money, or whatever), and told her that Jisu was dead. I also think that the tactless aunt told her brother and sister-in-law that Jisu's real mom just abandoned her. In other words, I think both parties were duped by the aunt.

Did I read right?? On wed nigth, I thought Suin's step Mom said married her husband when she was 10 months pregnant. To paraphrase My Cousin Vinny, are the laws of physics different in Korea? ?

I read that too, dodgerman, -- I guess it was a bad translation!

Yes, it was a bad translation, she is not an elephant! Can you believe that HS mum went to his apt and moved out his clothes, what gives he is an adult a grown man, why can't she get a life.

Hi, pilseung, I wondered where you were these days!
Grayson, that always baffles me to see when the parents go behind the grown children's backs and do stuff like that. I was actually happy this time when angry aunt called and told him. Wonder if Hyeonsu will have a backbone here or just give in and live at home.

This will be his opportunity to stand ground, but his personality will make him go along with his Mum, then here comes Chowow back on the scene. No offense to Asians but they do let their Mum run their lives, they are a bunch of "mummies boys" they give in regardless of how they feel, do not want to hurt mum's feelings. By her doing that will be setting up the tug o war that will ensue between HY, Mum, Suin and Chowow.

Aww, this is so sad. I'll always be on the children's side in matters like these, I was really really hoping Hyeonsu would put his foot down respectfully but here we go again. It's still early but I already feel like taking a break from this one, we pretty much know how the rest of the story goes =/.

He didn't say Boo when she moved him out but now that he's back, he seems determined to make her pay by being surly. Mom doesn't seem to mind Hyeonsu's coldness, however, as long as he's out of Suin's clutches.
The situation's a little different from the usual K-drama one, at least mas far as the few I've seen. The mom in this case actually LIKES Suin rather than consider her an evil, manipulative hussey (like Chow-Chow is). And, let me see if I have this right, Suin is her husband's neice altho neither knows it yet.
Stick with it brooklyn. You're exactly right about the central romance: Hyeonsu will wimp out again and again; Suin (beautiful but kind of a limp actress for my money) will push him away even tho she loves him; on and on until the last episode when family ties are revealed, stubborn minds change, and all is resolved. YAWN...
That was a sweet scene between Jisu and her real mother last nite, asking to represent her as a model. I'm finding the secondary themes (Jisu and her male model, the young, brainy kid and her cute, cut-up wannabe boyfriend, the poor family's struggles) more interesting in this story than the two star-crossed lovers are. I think it's going to be OK; not one of the great ones but worth while.

Puppy, In what episode did you hear that Suin is her husband's niece? Suin is her father's natural daughter, and I don't think it is clear who her biological mother is at this point.
