One more familiar face ... if I'm not mistaken, I believe that the father was also cast in "The Phoenix" as Eric's father. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it sure looks like him to me.

Is Lee Sangwu, ah, in the altogether in that photo? I think he's sexier than Ki Taeyeong but Ki's the better actor.
And brooklyn, I couldn't believe Grannie Curlers was the same actress who played the Lawyer's sweet MIL in MDU and the savvy models' agent in Road Home.

Ginny - Ep 1 began like this: Seonyeong (Suin's Mother) is briefly seen at a temple - Something to do with her birthday? I confess I don't know much about Budhism. We then saw Geonyeong (Father) with his friend Hyeosun at the family gravesite. He first looks at his Wife's marker - I think; all the writing is in Chinese characters. The dates are 1934 - 1984. He then looks at his son's marker; the dates are 1957 - 1983. Next, Yongseon is complaining about having to do all the work, preparing for the memorial, and calls her Sister-in-law, Sunjeong, who is with a patient. Yongseon says that Miryeong, Sunjeong's Daughter-in-law, is being irresponsible for taking her kids to an English camp, instead of helping with the memorial. Sunjeong goes to tell her Husband, Yongjun, that she is going home, and that his sister is upset, and he should come home soon as well. As she is leaving the hospital, and ambulance pulls up with an accident victim. Sunjeong tells her Son, Minsu, that they should take the vicitm to a larger hospital, but he says No, they need the business, and he needs her assistance in the ER. A quick scene of Seonyeong leaving the temple is followed by Jisu at the airport, there to pick up a model arriving from Japan. She is passing the time mentally casting arriving passengers in various ads, when she meets her brother, Hyeonsu, who is filming a TV feature on airports. She tells him to try to make it to the memorial service. In the OR, Yongjun is operating on the accident victim. Int doesn't seem to be going well; he gets spattered with blood, and the patient's blood pressur is falling. After that is the scene in the car, which is where you came in. Remember, on Thursdays, the Daily Drama starts earlier than usual. Soju, thanks so much!! I just saw your post now. Those dates on the memorial markers suggest that even the mother's death was a result of that event that the sister feels guilty about. If the mother died from a disease, anyway.

Eric's father in Phoenix was Park Geun-hyeong (or hyung). Is it him? Here's Han Cinema's cast list: Road Home Cast (may have to click "show more" under cast photos)And there he is, in column 1. Bo

I was pretty sure about him! He took off the mustache, and his hair color varies from scene to scene now, but otherwise, he looks the same

misterbill50 (lol), did you see Jumong? He played the old king, and it took me a few scenes to figure out who it was. He was excellent in that, by the way.

No, I'm sorry to say that I didn't see him as the king, Bo. I know that many of the actors in the modern day shows also played some of the great parts in the historical dramas ... very versatile and convincing actors!

Ki Taeyoung looks like he's way too much into his body. I like the fact that Lee Sangwoo looks more 'natural'. Plus, he has a cuter face.
Great posts on the mother/granny actresses. I really love the makeover they have given Jung Jaesun for The Road Home. She's fabulous.

Is the woman who plays Minsu's mother-in-law, the mean boss in Dalja's Spring ? As I hinted at in reply no. one to this thread, yes. Yang Huikyeong was also in "Here Comes Ajumma" and "On The Green Prairie".

Incidentally, Gangster Aunt plays a very elegant woman (though, a very minor role) in the series, "New Heart". I am always amazed at the range of the Korean actors.

Me too, dorrie. They can play old and young, mean and nice, serious and funny. I also notice that the "star" of one series may do a lesser, even a minor role in another series. We don't see that too much over here.

One person no one seems to have remembered is Shinae. She was also in DJG.She was Jobang(?) who used to confront a young Jang Geum. You see her somewhere in the first 10 episodes. Those with DVDs of the series might know best.
