There have been quite a few scenes in YAMD where Sabyeok cooks something(episode numbers?).She then has a taste of it.iIt is normally soup,I think. She'll then comment out aloud,''Emmmm, this is so good!" (No lack of self-confidence here!LOL) I've seen many characters in various Kdramas who do the exact same thing! Maybe,I'm conservative or something but, isn't it more appropriate that your guests/friends/relatives be the ones to compliment the cook. I doubt this is a cultural difference thing!

;D As someone who cooked in a Bistro setting after YEARS of cooking for a family of 8, I can honestly say that . . . YES, a cook will taste whatever is being cooked and comment on it and sometimes out loud to yourself LOL . . it may seem an odd thing to do for someone who hasn't had to stand over a stove for many years doing all that cooking, but it's not really self-praise . . . it's more of a comment on how the food tastes and whether it needs more seasoning or more cooking, etc. I like that part of the K-dramas because that is such a natural and normal way for a cook to act. Honestly - - come on all you cooks out there, haven't you ever done that? If you cook you have GOT to taste the food to make sure it's fit to serve . .

I know I do it. It's a nice feeling when I can say to myself, "MMmmm, I'd pay money to eat this in a restaurant." Of course, the converse occurs, too.
