Whenever you see anyone eating breakfast, there are tons of little bowls of stuff on the table. I have no idea what is in the little bowls. What is that stuff ?

I believe the Korean name is 'Pancha', or side dishes. Every Korean meal has a selection of these. Even the meals in the hospital have them.
Another thing is that no Korean meal is compleat without soup - even breakfast.

dodgerman, I think you said you were from NY, right? If you are, there is a whole new neighborhood in the lat W 20's-30"s (near Macy's) which has emerged as Little Korea -- tons of Korean restaurants. Whenever you go to one, they always serve lots of little side dishes!
