I haven't got all the names down yet but it seems to me that there are more Dead Upset Moms in this drama than in the other one.
We can start with Taepung and Taeyeong's mom. I know she's supposed to be goody-goody and lost two kids, but her emotions can't be trusted. She treated Saebyeok like dirt in the beginning, threw Taeyeong out of the house when he wanted to marry Soyeong and wasn't too nice to her either.
Then there's Grandma always jumping up from the table in a huff, always annoyed at something or somebody.
And Subin's mother. What a piece of work she is! Sticking her nose wherever it doesn't belong, shouting at her husband and anyone else who crosses her.
Lastly of course, the evil queen from DJY, Hosae's mom. Nothing makes her happy - not her wealth, children, husband. To me she's the worst.
I wanted to do a survey question to see how we fans rate these divas on the Piss-O-Meter but I don't know how.

Yes, a poll would be great. I really and truly am annoyed of them all, they act so childish at times especially Subin's mother. I think she's Yeonsil and Taepung's mom is Yeonsu... or maybe it's the other way around lol

Hi, Puppy. Good question! All you have to do is go to the main page of this YAMD board (where all the threads are listed) and click the "New Poll" icon in the upper right. It should be fairly self-explanatory. Though I've never done one, I'd be glad to help if you run into any problem.

Subin's mom, Yeonsil, has definitely influenced her daughter's personality. They are so much alike. Taeyeong and Taepung's mother, Yeongsuk, displays the worst mood swings from hate to love that I've ever seen. Grandma isn't as bad as some of the other mean MIL's we've seen in the past, but she's still annoying. Hosae's mother, Minjeong, is awful, no wonder she likes Subin so much.

She's married to the company president, isn't she? It isn't as if she need the marriage to come up in the world. I don't understand it.

ginnycat, I think she's stuck-up. She will do anything to keep Hosae away from Sabyeok, even if it means her son marrying a woman he doesn't love. Saebyeok isn't well off, didn't go to college and (cringe) she's an orphan or was anyway.

Yeonsil is one vicious woman. Her daughter is just like her. They only care about themselves and don't care how much they hurt others.

Wow, Yeonsil needs a sedative or something. She is something else.

Very early on in this show, I ventured to some boards that were ahead of us here in Chi, and read a lot of folks complaining about Granny's screetching. Back then, I thought, "geez, she's not so bad yet", but now, I am all too familiiar with it!

That's funny, Soju. I've gotten into the practice of just fast-forwarding through Granny's scenes as I do Subin's mom's scenes. I think I started doing it when Granny repeatedly interrupted Taeyoung and Soyeong's "frisky time" to harangue them about trying to conceive a baby.

I watch this drama live ... so I always mute when the moms and grandmother launches into their screeching routine. All the fathers are pretty decent withgreat amounts of comon sense - unlike their ditzy wives. Even Cornea Girl's new mom swigs from being decent and just plain stupid. there is absolutely no logic in blaming Cornea Girl for the accident.Grandma is such a 5-letter word beginning with B. Subin's father is my favorite. His sarcasm really hits the spot.

Really, Kathleen? I can see why he's a refreshing change of pace, but his neglect of and contempt for his wife only make her worse. He treats her like an object--never comes home, never talks to her, never listens to her.... I would feel bad for her if not for the fact that I would probably treat her the same way if I were her husband.

aah, Thank you for reminding me that it's just a TV program and they are just actors. It makes the horrible Subin-omma and her emotionally dead husband a little easier to take.

Subin's mom is so infuriating and immature. aigu! I looked her up in Koreanwiz and found this: LEE HAE SOOK (Yi Hye Suk) Born: September 4, 1962 School: Hanyang University TV dramas: You Are My Destiny (Yeon-sil); Landscape of My Heart (Mo-ran); Ground Zero (Sung-hee); The Mary-Daegu Bout (Sung-ja); Pure in Heart (Hye-sook); Mr. Goodbye (Young-in's mom); A Farewell to Tears (Hye-sun); Loveholic (Yool-joo's mom); Age of Heroes; Oh! Pil-seung & Bong Soon-young (Pil-seung's stepmom); Running After Dream (Hee-ya's mom); A Million Roses (Soon-young); Country Princess (Eun-soo's mom); Hello! Balbari (Min-ji's mom); Step Mom; Man & Woman; Delicious Proposal (aunt); Dukee; She's the One (Seung-mi's mom); School Awards: KBS Best Actress Bronze (2002) In Farewell to Tears, she was the self-assured businesswoman who left behind her son. Such a different character! She's a marvelous actress. In Pure in Heart, who was Hye-sook? Oh, just looked her up; she had 2 names. She ran a little restaurant and was single, no? www.koreanwiz.org/at/drama-pureinheart.html(forgot the link: www.koreanwiz.org/at/actors39.html )
