ALL, I found some articles and beautiful pictures to share with everyone.
Moon Geun-yeong's Quiet Charity Revealed The anonymous donor of W850 million (US$1=W1,392) over the last six years to the Community Chest of Korea stands revealed as 21-year-old actress Moon Geun-yeong.
The Community Chest of Korea on Thursday said the actress denied online rumors that she was the donor, but her agency okayed the disclosure, so the organization decided to make it public.
Since Nov. 2003, Moon has been donating all or part of her earnings from commercials, films and soap operas. Her donations were used to build children's libraries and subsidize hospital costs for children suffering from leukemia or cancer. Apart from the Community Chest of Korea, Moon has also given several hundred millions of won to scholarship foundations.
Namoo Actors, Moon's agency, said, "For Moon's family, charity seems a natural part of life rather than a special event. Because she has always made the donations with her mother, not through the agency, we do not know how much she has given".
Moon made her debut in the movie "On the Way" in 1999, and became a child star as the heroine of mega-hit soap opera "Autumn in my Heart" in 2000. She was nicknamed the "nation's little sister" as she gained popularity through the movie "A Tale of Two Sisters" in 2003, and "My Little Bride" in 2004. Currently, she plays Chosun-era artist Shin Yoon-bok in the TV soap "Painter of the Wind".

Actress Moon Revealed as the Biggest Donator By Han Sang-hee Staff Reporter
Actress Moon Geun-yeong has been revealed as the anonymous donor of more than 850 million won (US$ 850.000) for the past six years, making her the biggest individual giver in the Korean Community Chest's history.
According to the organization, the 21-year-old actress, who is currently starring in the popular drama "Painter of the Wind", donated in past years, anonymously, at her request.
However, as the organization announced a list of their top donors in tune with its 10th anniversary and ruled out Moon's name with an "anonymous actress in her 20s", there had been ongoing rumors about the mysterious donor. People working in and out of the entertainment business started to point to Moon, as she had already donated in the past.
Community Chest of Korea finally revealed that it was indeed Moon who donated the money, adding that the donations were given in large sums, 50 million (US$ 50.000) to even 100 million won (US$ 100.000), instead of regular contributions.
Moon, who starred in the hit movies "A Tale of Two Sisters" (2003) and "My Little Bride" (2004), was already well-known for being generous in donations as she supported the "Miracle Library", located around the nation, helped build a study room for poor children living in Haenam, South Jeolla Province, offered 55 million won (US$ 55.000) for children suffering from cancer and leukemia and also donated 30 million won (US$ 30.000) to students living in Gwangju.
News that she donated 100 million won (US$ 100.000) to "Morning Reading", a program carried out by a group of teachers and donors who believe in reading for only 10 minutes before school can help transform a child's life, for the past three years, was also revealed recently.
_________
Coming in second is national soccer team coach Hong Myung-bo, who donated 650 million won in total, and Kim Jung-tae, former chief executive of Kookmin Bank.
Among corporate donors, Samsung led the pack with 187-point-two billion won, followed by Hyundai Automotive Group, SK and LG.

Moon Geun Young Criticised for Her Charitable Deeds
Posted on 11.18.08 to Star News by hanfever
Moon Geun Young has been in the spotlight recently as she was given the nickname of “Charity Angel” but instead of complements, she was attacked by some netizens calling her a hypocrite. Conservative political commentator Ji Man Won and some netizens even dug out her family history, and used it as a tool to attack her.
News of Moon Geun Young donating a total of 850million won to charity organizations in the past 6 years was revealed recently and she was commended by many for being a role model to all. However, there were some netizens who held a different view about her. They said that she was just trying to increase her reputation and called her a hypocrite. They were even some who attempted to stir emotions by dragging her family into the picture. Moon Geun Young’s grandfather was a political prisoner previously, supposedly having communist ideas.
Political commentator Ji Man Won wrote on his website: “Actress Moon Geun Young is someone who is brought up under communist influence. She is spreading communist ideals and might be working as a spy for the communist North Korean.”
Eventually, the situation turned so bad that the Democratic Labor Party has to stressed: “If Moon Geun Young’s family history is what the Korean history was, we must treat it as a lesson instead of making accusations and witch-hunting.”
I seriously don’t know what the heck is wrong with some Korean netizens. Even charitable deeds can be made out to mean her having some agendas. I’m probably getting a little agitated, but can someone throw that Ji Man Won into some mental hospital or something. He is just getting ridiculous.

Moon Geun-young targeted by netizen slander
November 17th, 2008 // by javabeans
You’re damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. Or, in Moon Geun-young’s case, you’re damned (by netizens) if you donate regularly to help those in need, with your intentions constantly called into question.
After being lauded as an “angel of kindness” by many, Moon currently finds herself the target for abuse after it was recently made known that she has made contributions to various charitable causes anonymously throughout her career, which amount to somewhere in the 850,000,000 won range (with the current exchange rate, that translates to approximately USD $600,000).
Some samples of the types of comments? “What’s 850 million won to a celebrity?” (I say: The same effing 850 million won that it means to the rest of us.) “It’s a ploy to raise her salary.” (As far as I know, prodcos don’t raise fees for being charitable.) “It’s just a scam to donate anonymously when their name is revealed later anyway.” (This one I agree with.) People are going so far as to delve into Moon’s family history, hurling regional slurs and commie labels her way. (I guess “socialist” is the new big insult?)
Of course, you don’t get to be such a huge target of netizen idiotry without amassing a loyal fanbase as well, and Moon’s are countering, “If people are going to get abused for good deeds, who’s going to donate?”
With the situation thus, a political figure has even stepped forward to issue a statement. On November 17, the Democratic Labor Party said, “Calling Moon Geun-young a commie is a sign of social pathology… We as a society must stop these abnormal personal attacks.”
Moon Geun-young, on the other hand, has remained silent on the matter. One source said she is maintaining a “no comment” stance on the issue and is solely focused on filming for her current drama, Painter of the Wind.

I love the one where she's tied up (in white prisoner clothes) and she's grinning like a nutcase (obviously on a break from filming). So funny.

I found some articles related to the male lead, Park Shin Yang to share with you and everyone.
Park Shin Yang Permanently Banned From Taking Anymore Drama
Posted on 12.05.08 to Star News by hanfever The Korea Television Drama Production Company Association held a meeting in the afternoon today and through a voting system, has decided to ban Park Shin Yang from acting in any more dramas in the future.
The association announced on the 5th that the members held a meeting today in regards to the lawsuit made by Park Shin Yang to one of its member company, pursuing 341million won and 380million won in unpaid fees for his participation in “Money’s Warfare“. Through voting, they have decided to permanently ban Park Shin Yang from acting in any more dramas and have also requested the TV stations to ban the production company as well.
A related personnel of the association said:” It is really ridiculous having to pay Park Shin Yang 170.5million won per extension episode for ‘Money’s Warfare’. This is totally absurd after considering the size of the Korean market and the production budget.”
The association currently has around 30 odd members including SamHwa, Kim Jong Hyuk Production Company, Chorokbaem Media, Olive Nine, Pan Entertainment etc.
I’m shocked. Didn’t they sign the contract with the amount stated beforehand.? Even if it is for the extension episodes, they should have come to terms before continuing with the filming. But anyway this move is probably too extreme, I think they are trying to make an example of him so that similar problems will not happen again. Sigh, it is going to be very difficult for Park Shin Yang in the future.

Netizens and Fans Protest Against Park Shin Yang Drama Ban
December 7, 2008 by coolsmurf Simple explanation of the whole mess: Park Shin Yang was banned by the Korea Television Drama Production Company Association last Friday from Korean dramas in the future. This after they claimed that the unpaid wages claimed by Park Shin Yang for his work in War of Money was too high (read more).
Park Shin Yang Being Made A Scapegoat?
Fans and netizens have been voicing their displeasure on the internet in the aftermath of this whole fiasco, “Is it a sin to take legal action for not adhering to the terms of the contact? This is not a fair and just decision.”
Park Shin Yang has no doubt been hit hard by this decision. His acting in Painter of The Wind as Kim Hong Do was questioned by critics and the lacklustre tv ratings also meant that it did not achieve what was expected of the drama beforehand from many. And now, Park Shin Yang has been “punished” by the Korea Television Drama Production Company Association despite claiming his unpaid wages in a legal manner. It’s understood that Park Shin Yang flew to America to reunite with his family after wrapping up filming for Painter of the Wind, giving the customary post-drama celebratory party a miss.
But with regards to Bae Yong Joon receiving in excess of 200 million won per episode for Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi, the association expressed, “Bae Yong Joon wields a lot of influence which led to many foreign investors investing their money in the drama. In addition, the drama was a big project that was aimed at the overseas market. There was also no issues between the production company and cast, so you can’t lump the both of them together.”
The association has 30-odd members including Samhwa Production, Kim Jong Hyuk Production, Chorokbaem Media, Olive9, Pan Entertainment, etc.
Industry critics felt that the harsh “punishment” meted out to an established A-lister like Park Shin Yang was to make him as an example of implementing a salary wage cap on stars. With hallyu stars like Kwon Sang Woo, Song Seung Hun lowering their wages recently and Park Shin Yang being frozen out now, the days of earning big money from acting looks to be a thing of the past.
It sounds ridiculous. Is it legal to ban actors from acting? What do you think? credits: as labeled

It's not legal, but it's done all the time. Remember the blackballing done here in the 1950s against actors and writers who were supposedly "communist" and didn't even have a trial and some of them weren't even told about it, they just stopped working. The blacklist wasn't even eliminated until the 1970s, I think--maybe even later than that. And NOBODY would hire those people, even though they knew the charges were bogus and long gone.
I frankly hope they don't get away with this tactic. It's a dangerous precedent, no matter what he's done to them. Then they can threaten anyone they want to "keep in line" even if that person has the right on their side. They should defend their lawsuit, not try to get around the law this way.

Bo, I heard about the similar story from I Love Lucy. Desi Arnaz defended Lucille Ball, his wife, who was accused of being a communist. Desi Arnaz said, "The only thing red about Lucy is her hair, and even that's not legitimate". After some ordeal, Lucille Ball was cleared of all charges and the viewers loved her more than ever.

Back to school for Moon Geun-young January 13th, 2009 // by javabeans
Following her acting Daesang win last month for her role in the sageuk drama Painter of the Wind, Moon Geun-young is returning to school.
Moon has mostly kept a low profile from the entertainment sphere while she’s been at school; the 21-year-old actress enrolled in university in 2006 (she studies Korean literature at Sungkyunkwan University) and completed four terms before taking her first leave to return to acting. (The last project she did prior to Painter was the 2006 film Love Me Not.)
According to her management, she has no plans for her next acting job; Moon is currently resting up at home and will re-enroll when the school term begins in March. Via E Daily Good luck, Moon Guen Young!
