Not that im in a hurry to see the end of Sejong ,far from it in fact (unlike DJY which ran its course )but the next drama being Empress Chuncho has undergone a title change to ....
" THE IRON EMPRESS ".
It starts in Korea (and if you have KBS World you can see it with subs )next month .
Like most of you i get Korean Programming from a local pbs station though in my area
Comcast only lists TBA on its interactive menue ,funny though TBS is rated M for graphic violence even though Comcast never list the programming .
We are at ep 54 with Sejong and its probably the most impressive historical k drama i have yet to see ,i even like it better than IYSS (Which seems to be every ones fave)of which i have many problems with in the historical accuracy dept ,i guess the same argument could be made at Sejong but for some reason the accuracy does not bother me like it did in IYSS .
I guess things like the depiction of Won Kyun who was a drunken lech and a sneak in real life unlike the headstrong but brave version featured in the series ,and the deadly rivalry between Konishi and Kato was left out and IYSS never really got into how most of the Samurai Clans were against the invasion .
The Joseon court was wrongly depicted too (see SBS drama Kings Woman for accuracy )
So my point is im sure Sejong is loaded to the gills with similar travesties but im not bothered i think it is that i expected nothing from Sejong given the history and was taken by suprise
yet in IYSS i was waiting for all this stuff that never happened .
Back to SEJONG there is a new Korean Film called DIVINE WEAPON that is set 5 years before Sejong's passing (Sejong is depicted in the film ),it tells of a feudal rocket launcher that is developed by the Bureau Of Weaponary and a jealous Ming send in spy's to steal it .
This is a big budget martial arts (no flying on wires please !!!!)spectacular that seems to have been a huge hit in Korea .
It should be out on import R3 DVD soon with subtitles .
