Huh Jo didn't seem to happy to learn that Meng Sasung was to be his boss. The man playing Yi Chun, new to the Bureau of Weaponry, also looks familiar. Wasn't he the advisor/relative to Empress Wu Zeitan in DJY? Also in the disappearance category, along with the martial arts contest, is Hyobin. Perhaps she is laying low waiting for the CP to perform another great act of misconduct. Another Q: At the blood oath ceremony I saw the Min brothers, Han Younglo and Yi Sookbun. Who was sitting to the right of Yi Sookbun?

Wasn't he the advisor/relative to Empress Wu Zeitan in DJY? Also in the disappearance category, along with the martial arts contest, is Hyobin. Perhaps she is laying low waiting for the CP to perform another great act of misconduct. Another Q: At the blood oath ceremony I saw the Min brothers, Han Younglo and Yi Sookbun. Who was sitting to the right of Yi Sookbun? Yes jojo, Yi Chun was Wu Zetian's nephew in DJY. He was also the other "Yi Soon Shin" in IYSS. It was cool to see him wearing the same clothes as he did in The Immortal Yi Soon Shin. Déjà vu. Huh Jo (Bu Kiwon from DJY and a Ming navy commander in IYSS), I wonder what sort of character he's going to be? Meng Sasung seems to be an unusual character. He has a sense of humor. Yu Jeonghyun looks like an Asian Christopher Lee. ;D Interesting that the King asked him to be PM. I guess that's not going to go over very well. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Hyobin. You didn't see Han Younglo (Daion's father) at the ceremony, he's dead. You probably meant Gim Hanlo. I don't know the name of the guy sitting to the right of Sookbun but I recognize him. Yes, the man with the magnificant voice is back. It'll be interesting to see which new ministers are good guys and which will be bad. Did any one else notice that a major plotline seemed to disappear with the time jump? For many episodes we were building up to the martial arts contest and in Ep 28 the Chinese and Japanese guests were arriving in Chosun and the event was imminent. So what happened? Did they cancel it due to civil unrest? Did the Crown Prince get to show off his "team"? Maybe we'll see the aftermath in a flashback? Or is it lost and gone forever? Yeah, whatever happened to that GRAND Event? Before the rebels attacked the palace, the guests were supposedly en route. EPISODE 29 Again a great episode. Wow, Muby finally gets killed. I guess his nine lives ran out. The whole situation with Jeon Ilji was very sad. He really did take a liking to Prince Choongnyeong. He wrote that letter and took a sword for him. Heart wrenching scene. I was quite surprised Ok Hwan gave up and decided to end it all. I never thought he'd kill himself. I think the King and Queen are two of the grumpiest people in the palace. She was so mean to Yi Sun. Afterwards the Queen was unusually nice to her when she found out why she was gathering pine needles. I guess it was beneath her to say she was sorry to Yi Sun. The King really shook things up in the court. Likewise the Crown Prince is pushing the envelope again surrounding himself with "loyal men". What a shock to see him in the tub with Auri present. Is she carrying on with Ok Hwan's business, or did the CP seek her out? Nothing like being out in the woods to bring the animal out in a man. ;D Prince Choongnyeong sure had an extreme makeover! I guess he's learned to kill since we saw him last at the execution, of course it's totally different than killing a human being. Very interesting transformation.

jojo, I think the guy sitting next to Yi Sookbun is Yi Jongmu. We first saw him when Ok Hwan came to the palace and said to him, "Relay my message to Yi Bangwon. The rebel leader requests a meeting."

I think I may have missed an episode. I don't remember when Prince Choongy sired another child. I don't remember when another child was born. Were both the children in the last episode his or was that a house guest?

Nothing like being out in the woods to bring the animal out in a man. ;D I concur. Ep 30 Ooo noooo... Choongnyeong looks so disheartened and bitter. It's tough to see him like this. He doesn't seem to care about anything. I hope his inquisitive mind will get the better of his bad mood. His conversation with Choi Yundeok was hopeful, when Choongnyeong question Choi, Why do you do all this work and no one understands you..." Choi's response was good. On the other hand, Choongnyeong's been there for 2 years already. It's refreshing to hear Choi Yundeok speaking, nice to get away from the stiff palace formalities. Life on the frontier has to be harder, but real-er. Hyobin is back with a Vengence. "I will pay you back for your kindness one day." Yikes! And she does pay her back. The Queen is named by the nurse!! The poor king; he looked like he was going to throw up! This should be interesting.

Choongnyeong may have missed it as well.

Ep 29 & 30: A new 'feature' from WYBE, aka MiND: guess the subtitle! The new, ever-present logo is covering over part of the subtitles and character names. It's difficult enough to read the subtitles and glance back at the characters, but now I'm lingering over the subtitles trying to figure out what's being said. I don't like these logos, no matter which station is showing them. They're distracting. It's only a matter of time before they start showing advertising logos as well.

That logo is in the way because it's too big. Annoying. EPISODE 30 & 31Princess Shim must have been pregnant when Choongnyeong left, judging by the little boy's age. I wonder if he would have left if he knew. He probably would have. He's hard to understand, he's either gung-ho to get things done or he's despondent. So extreme. He won't listen to Youngsil or Choi Yundeok. I thought maybe he would think when he asked Choi why he works so hard when nobody appreciates him and Choi said because the people do. That used to be why Choongnyeong did things too. I thought Hyobin had given up on finding the nursemaid. It's a shame Min Muhyul wasn't quicker getting away with the nurse. What a powerful emotion jealousy is! Look what the Queen attempted to do because the King tossed her aside for her servant Hyobin. I really don't like Hyobin or Kyoungnyeong at all. I think the two of them should be punished for what they did. Hyobin knows her place as a concubine, but is out to destroy the Queen. I understand how they feel (I wouldn't want to be in either of their positions), but this was the King's doing. People never seem to direct their anger towards the person that deserves it. I feel very sorry for Queen Wongyeong and her brother's the Mins. Two more of her brothers being sacrificed for the Crown Prince who doesn't deserve it. Unfortunately Yangnyeong's wife is experiencing the same hurt as the Queen, having to put up with the CP's infidelity. There's definitely more than meets the eye with Auri. I don't trust her at all. CP Yangnyeong is getting bolder all the time, even with his father. He keeps making comments about "learning things from the King as he was growing up". I'm surprised Taejong lets him get away with the disrespect even if it's true. I guess it's his guilt stopping him. I was very glad to see the royal princes' love, devotion and protectiveness of their mother. I'm afraid this is the last of the Min brothers unless the CP stops them at the last minute, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well I don't get it about the kids either. I had assumed that the baby that was born in episode 25 was Prince C's first child, but they must already have had a daughter. The time jump was only 2 years and the girl is clearly older than the boy, who looks to be about 2 or 3.

I also assumed the baby born in episode 25 was their first child. Perhaps the birth of their daughter wasn't a big deal because it wasn't a son.

Ep 30 & 31 I wonder why Granny Cowsears kept trying to find the nursemaid anyway. She could have just let it go with saying the woman couldn't be found. I would think Granny wouldn't want to get the Queen PO'd at her. Perhaps Hyobin has something on Granny. For a while I thought Auri was falling for the CP. Good thing she thought, if only you had been born elsewhere. I feel a bit sorry for her. If I was her I'd never want to see the CP again after what happened to the resistance movement. She must have a motive for continuing in her role. It was nice to see the Queen soften up a bit, and to hear more of her story. I have more sympathy for her than before.

EPISODE 32 I found Prince Kyoungnyeong going to see Prince Choongnyeong very strange and wondered what he's up to. Although he seemed like he felt bad about what he and his mother had done, I don't trust him. He's still goading CP Yangnyeong whenever he gets the chance. The situation with the Mins was so sad. I'm glad Min Muhyul refused to drink the poison. He was very bold and gave quite a biting speech to the Crown Prince. Why couldn't he just banish them? I still say Hyobin and Kyoungnyeong should receive some form of punishment. The Crown Prince is turning into a tyrant. If he isn't having someone killed, he's firing somebody. I'm surprised he hasn't given Hwang Hee the axe too. I agree with some of the ministers, "How long do we have to put up with this child?" Even the King puts up with his sarcastic and rebellious remarks. Why is it that King Taejong seems harder on Prince Choongnyeong as compared to the other princes? For a moment there, I thought Auri had been discovered. After the flashback with her conversation with Ok Hwan, I wondered exactly what she meant by saying without rage, she couldn't remember him or their past days. Was she letting go of the rage and moving on with her life, or was she keeping the rage in her heart so she could continue with their work? Time will tell. Unbelievable the CP replaces Choi Yundeok. He, in his own unorthodox way, has been keeping the Jurchens in check and really cares for the people. It didn't seem that way in the beginning but has since become apparent. Of course the CP isn't trying to keep the border safe, he wants to conquer them. I loved seeing Choi in the woods with the people helping them train to quickly hide when the Jurchens attacked. I also loved the ending when Choi hit Choongnyeong. Hopefully this will knock some sense into him and bring him out of his apathetic state. Enough already!

Ep 32 It was shocking to see how tyrannical the Crown Prince has become. He is turning out to be even worse than his father: a tyrant AND makes bad, impetuous decisions. I thought he would have axed Hwang Hee as a supporter a while ago, but the CP must need him for something. I wonder what Hwang is thinking. I thought Auri was going to be caught too!! Though it looks to me like she is flipping. The resistance movement is gone, and now she's following the CP. Perhaps his little speech of her being by his side in Liaodong, got to her. My oh my!! The ending was perfect! Prince Choongnyeong getting slugged in the face by Choi Yundeok!! No-nonsense Yundeok slugs some sense into Choongnyeong: "Why do I live like this? Because men like you won't do what they're supposed to do." Right on the mark Yundeok! I like some of the details we're seeing in the background: flowering shrubs, trees starting to leaf out. It must be spring. ;D

I noticed the flowering trees too. EPISODE 33 The CP is making a big mess of things. He may have to contend with Ming as well as the Jurchens. I wonder if the reason Gang Sangin doesn't want to convince Prince Choongnyeong to leave Gyeongsung for a safer place, is because he is content living there too. It doesn't have the luxuries of the palace, but it's got to be less stressful without all the politics. If Yi Chun does what Choi Haesan suggested, getting the King to force Choongnyeong to leave, will he call him back to the palace? That would be great. I don't understand how the Prince could stay away from his wife and family for 2 years. As usual Choongnyeong's actions are being distorted and the King thinks he is rallying the northern soldiers to seize the throne. Is Prince Kyoungnyeong really trying to help Prince Choongnyeong!? It seems out of character for him unless he wants to get the Crown Prince out of the way first. It would be nice if he had a change of heart towards Choongnyeong. Sometimes I think the King is clever and other times he seems very gullible. When he asked Jo Malseng about Choi Yundeok and Jo said that he had heard that Choi was incompetent and corrupted, King Taejong questioned how that could be. He protected the northern border for many years successfully. Great move to send an investigator to the north. Even better was PM YU volunteering to go himself! ;D That really foiled the CP's plans. I was glad Gang Sangin and his men intercepted the secret note from the CP. Are we seeing some glimmers of hope from Prince Choongnyeong? He stops Yi Chun from being executed by the PM, stops Jang Youngsil from being hit by Yi Chun, has been reflecting on the words spoken to him by Choi Yundeok and even expressed sorrow and responsibility for the deaths in the village. He seems to finally be seeing what his aloofness has done. Yikes! What is Auri doing meeting with Choongnyeong's father-in-law Shim On? She's going to bring Prince Choongnyeong back from Gyeongsung!? I never now what to expect from her and I'm still unsure of her motives or loyalties.

I was thinking the same thing about Gang Sangin, ie preferring country-living with less mental stress over the intrigue-filled palace. He also seems to be protective of Prince Choongnyeong, more than his job requires. I was very surprised that the King would even consider the possibility that Choongnyeong would try to sieze the throne, with the border army behind him no less! Perhaps the King was projecting his own past on Choongnyeong. Thank goodness the King and others were suspicious of the report. I don't understand why Kyoungnyeong had to 'lie' to the King about Choongnyeong to get an investigation going. Wasn't there already going to be one??? I don't trust him. Good thing Hwang Hee wasn't picked for investigator. He would have found himself between a rock and a hard place. This would have been too big for him to cover up for the CP, yet an unfavorable report would have sent the CP 'gunning' for Hwang. Looks like Choongnyeong is 'waking up' to the consequences of his aloofness. He's going to get dragged into this mess somehow, and maybe it will involve Hwang Yun, the Ming envoy. Perhaps the CP still wants to get Choongnyeong out of Gyeongsung, so he sent Auri to 'get' him (or dropped a ton of hints). Though why in the world would Auri tell Shim On?!?
