Something about her, she was in Love Letter. She's becoming very popular, winning many awards. Her deep sexy voice, cute looks and great acting.

Someone PLEASE tell me this show gets better ! I'm at episode 16 and if I did not have so much time into it I would bail !!! 50 episodes ? I wish it was 25 !!! It almost gets interesting then they fall back into the predictable stuff. I'm ready to side with the Jami clan and wishing Jang Bo-go dead !!! Later, Gman

It DOES get better. Please have patience. In fact, the last 25 episodes are simply incredible. I know how you feel, though~!

My thoughts, and two questions: I admit, too, that it was difficult to get into Emperor of the Sea. The opening theme was what really attracted my attention (great music), plus I recognized several of the primary actors, which I always like (makes the characters feel more familiar). However, the first portion of the story didn't hold my attention, and as soon as the love triangle between Goong-bok, Jung-hwa and Yeom-mun got into full swing and everyone grew even more angsty, I stopped watching. Once in awhile I would tune it, but if I forgot it aired, I didn't care if I missed that episode. The fighting sequences in this series are very well-done, and something that I've always enjoyed watching, even amid all the romance mush. A lot of high-flying karate, but still wonderfully choreographed! Finally then within the mid-20 episodes, I started feeling a connection to a lot of the characters (at long last) and began watching diligently. Now at episode 40 (on AZN TV) I'm completely hooked! I've always admired Lady Jami. Say what you will about her evil plottings, but the woman is strong and classy - it's wonderful to see such a beautiful, noble lady dealing viciously with all the men. I want to be just like her when I grow up! (LOL) And I know he can be a little whiny at times, but I do so love Jung-hwa's brother, Kim Chung-gyum. I can't help but to feel badly for the poor fellow, and I hope he returns to the story with courage to face Lady Jami. (Oh, and actor Jeong Seong Hwan sure has a sexy hang-dog look! *grin*) I also like Baek-kyung, who reminds me so much of Nalbal from Yi Soon Shin, though in an "other side of the tracks" kinda way. Really, I do love those silent, badass warrior types! Now the questions: can someone tell me the name of the actor who plays Baek-kyung? I can't find him credited anywhere online... Second, what happened to Pan-sul, the pirate with the outgoing personality and really high pony-tail? The last time I recall seeing him was when he went to get Yeom-mun out of Yangju after Master Lee's company went under. Goong-bok got in the way - did he kill Pan-sul? I don't understand why he left the series so suddenly and without glory. (I was thinking perhaps the actor left to film the sequel to My Boss, My Hero, but I haven't seen it yet to know if the crazy nudist cameraman is in it again or not...) Anyway, I've read spoilers on how Emperor of the Sea ends, and I am so excited to see how it plays out! I'll be depressed, I'm sure.

This will air soon in the Philippines. We're three fourths into Dae Jang Geum, and this is going to replace the series. I've seen the teasers, they seem very good -- great cinematography and costumes for sure - but I think it certainly has a different feel compared to DJG

Hi all I liked the drama. I watched it last summer and naturally I wouldn't go into any details right now as it might spoilt it for anyone who hasn't watch it yet, but it is quite a different drama compared to say DJG, perhaps more targeted at an older audience? The theme song is wonderful and I read from somewhere that it was originally a Japanese song and was adapted for this drama - please correct me if I am wrong. I can get the lyrics if anyone is interested...and one of the key characters SO-Ae - below, is very beautiful! uk fan

...can someone tell me the name of the actor who plays Baek-kyung? I can't find him credited anywhere online... Nevermind, found out on my own. Baek-kyung is played by actor Yeo Ho Min. He hasn't done much else besides two other TV series ( Into the Storm and Shining Days) and apparently he was in the film Shiri somewheres. Though he hasn't had any starring roles yet, I wish badass Baek-kyung all the best in the future! ;D

Well, “Emperor of the Sea” concluded over on AZN a few days ago, and there was quite a buzz about it on the California board from viewers all America (many of them, it seems, who were experiencing their first-ever K-drama).
Yet, I saw nary a word about it from anyone amongst the Chicago crowd. Did anybody in the Windy City actually watch it? I’d sure like to hear what y’all thought of it.

Just thought I'd share this in case anyone else was wondering. To answer my own, second query, the actor who played Pan-sul, Ko Myeong Hwan, was in a traffic accident while filming EotS; I read he broke his ribs and had a nasty gash over his left eye, which left him with faulty vision. Apparently due to the physical strain involved with being a pirate, he decided not to go back to EotS. One of the Special Programs for the series even shows poor Ko in the hospital, being visited by cast and staff of the show. I wish he did leave instead to film My Boss, My Teacher. But thankfully he's alright, because he went on to act in the other KBS drama Rebirth. ... Speaking of the My Boss, My Hero sequel, I forgot the first one not only had Ko as part of the cast, but two other EotS stars: Kang Seong Pil (Joong-dal) and Jo Dal Hwan (Soong-jong). In case anyone was interested in checking that out. And yay! Yeo Ho Min is currently starring in the new historical drama Jumong with Song Il Gook (Yeom-jang), Lee Jae Yong (Master Jo) and Bae Soo Bin (Kim Yang)! I cannot wait to see this show!! ;D ~ Heather

Hi Heather
Thanks for the update, yes, I have enjoyed EoS too, and it was my second k-drama after DJG and the 3rd k-drama was Damo..all three are excellent and now I wait for YSS to be released on DVD.
Yes, I do get the various newsletters about new korean dramas and films and of course who's who in these new programs.
I don't watch any normal TV programmes now except for Chinese Channels and of Korean ones as well...and it was all because of k-dramas ;D
Anyway, thanks for the update.

Mikey, sorry for the late reply but we haven't seen it yet here in the Philly area. Can't speak for Chicago. I hope that our local network WYBE will show EOS after IYSS is over. We're nearing the end.

The Philippine channel who got the rights to this series held back from airing it. Apparently, they were afraid of showing another historical drama so soon after DJG. I'm watching it on DVDs. It's very good - I'm on episode 24 now and it's really getting addicting. Granted, the love triangle thing can get a bit annoying The three main characters have made decisions that a normal, rational person in love probably wouldn't do .. but it's a trifling thing for me. Besides, what's a K-drama without a love triangle. I must say Yeom Moon is fast becoming one of my favorite K-drama characters. He's very complex - evil but not quite , working for traitors but with his own sense of honor intact, sometimes I even symphatize with him more than Jang Bogo. Oh and Lady Jami -- Chae Si Ra is perfect. She's beautiful, cruel, smart -- for lack of a better word, she's a woman with you-know-what I hate her, but I'm fascinated by her too.
