i think DJY has great respect and even affection for the princess. i think he admires her strength and her goodness. he feels honored by her obvious (at least it would be to most) love for him. therefore, the marriage can be 'real' and he can use terms of endearment such as 'dearest' and be sincere about it. but, regarding chulin, that is another matter altogether. he has deep and abiding passion and love for her. it is the kind of love that can not be extinguished by time, separation or any other adverse situation or condition. it is an everlasting love, the kind some are never blessed or cursed enough to feel. ------------ now, did anyone else notice that the man almost smiled when sudol was being the step stool for the woman (her name escapes me) to get on the horse. the corners of his mouth actually softened and almost made an upward turn. i wanted to shout with glee...

That was Auhong, who stepped on Sudol's back. That was quite a subtle smile on DJY's face.

luvarchfiend, that's an excellent post and spot on definition of the kind of relationship between Joyoung/Sukyoung and jo/Chulin. I wish sukyoung would toughen up a bit though.

Ditto, Brooklyn!
While I agree with luvarchfiend's analysis, maybe DJY's heart would race a bit if the princess could use a sword. In one episode, she tells Chulin somewhat enviously that she wants to learn how to fight. But then, when her band new hubby goes off to possible death with LiWen's soldiers, she bids him adios (no kisses) and heads to the temple.
Nothing wrong with praying, of course.

We see this "lack of affection" a lot in these dramas. It's not just between DJY and Sukyoung. Don't think it's because they don't love each other. In situations where we think they should embrace, hug or kiss, they just nod and leave. Don't underestimate Princess Sukyoung.

The KBS writers seem to be attached to the theme of young lovers who are destined to be apart as adults. They did the same for Yi Sun Shin.
Episode 80 Lesson #1: Never trust the Dae family. They will have sword to throat sooner or later no matter what they say. Lesson #2: Any main character can chop down multiple warrior extras with no threat of any damage unless they engage another main character. Actually, we learned this one long ago. Lesson #3: Make backup copies of wills and other important documents.

HELP PLEASE!
I missed an episode last nite for the first time (79, I think - the one right after LiWen orders DJY to find the Turkic camp and DJY meets Gaepilsaemun again) . Tried to get it on KBS, MBC, Soompy, MySoju, VEOH, all of them wth no success. The Phillie board posts excellent episode summaries but hasn't gotten to this one yet.
Can anyone give me an outline of what happened? Kamsa hamnida!

Here you go puppy, I think it was ep 80. DJY and the Turks conspire against Li Wen. They pretend that DJY captured the Turks but that he will not come down from the mountain since Li Wen is planning kill DJY and claim credit for the capture. Which, predictably, is exactly what Li Wen was planning. The Turks take up a position to ambush Li Wen while DJY’s men pretend to prepare for a battle higher on the mountain. Li Wen leads his men into the trap. While the Turks and Li Wen are fighting, DJY and his men steal the booty that the Turks stole from Tang and plan to go back home. Mimosa takes the treasure to Xue Rengui as "proof" that DJY did not plan to escape Tang but had to flee Li Wen. Of course, Xue knows that's load of bull so DJY’s pop pulls a sword on him. Freeze Frame

Sukyeong is pregnant! DJY might not be in luuuv, but at least he stepped up to the plate. I'm happy for her but sorry to see Gaepilsamun in prison. The guy grows on you.
And BTW, what ever happened to Yeon Gaesamun's son (can't remember his name) the one who wants to be a Tang bigshot in order, he claims, to be in a position to restore Gorguryeo to supremacy (??) He all of a sudden dropped from the face of the earth.

puppy,
YGSM's son is Namseng.
I was happy for Princess Sukyoung too. It's nice to have something nice happen for a change.

Yes, puppy I can't even remember the last time I saw or heard about him or the other son Namgeon. I've missed so much too anyway.
I like how she said she knows its a boy lol and I like the teary smile Joyoung did when he hugged her.

Thanks, Tinkerbell! I know the princess has a loving heart as do many (maybe all) of the K-drama heroines. The heroes are great, too. I fall in love with each new one I encounter. But WHY OH WHY are the kisses so anemic? I don't expect slobbering but a tad more oomph wouldn't be bad. (The hugging is much better.)
brookjyn, Does Namseng ever come back to the story? And Namgeon is dead, right?

LOL puppy! I agree that they could spice the kisses up some more. I don't know if we'll see Namseng again but I hope they will at least mention his whereabouts, saying something like he took refuge as a recluse or something in a village lol. We need closure there. As for Namgeon, I last heard about him when they took king bojang captive after the fall of Goguryeo and they said Namgeon was taken in too after his failed suicide attempt and that was it. I'd like to know what becomes of their lineage and stuff like that.
