Well it seems Choi is onto another drama about some Kogoreon General that fought for Tang (dont know who please fill in blanks if you know )that is slated to start around the end of 2008 .
But what about us the loyal audience who have been watching this for in some cases over a year and for many since 7/07 thats a long time .
Now if you live in Korea you are happy you probably have many historical dramas to pick through but what about the rest of us watching AZN and those on the East Coast where it seems to be dying down .
AZN are famous for last minute programming dont be surpised if they think the DJY void can be filled by re runs of Thank You ,Air City and Coffee Prince (i like this one actually its really funny ,also Thank You but Air City .....forget it )a new historical drama would be nice but its cheaper to re run stuff they already have .
I know you guys watching on PBS on the East Coast and in Los Angeles will probably get a new historical drama ...But for the Azn viewer its looking bleak ,DJY has occupied my life for some time ,even down to two episodes a week its still something to look forward too and it can help as i got to avoid having to listen to the State Of The Union because DJY had that time slot .
But life without DJY as far as TV will be bleak indeed .
It will end on AZN around the third week of March (unless they start repeating the next to final episodes to drag it out )its gone in Korea as we all know and it should be wrapping in other area's so for now Boo Hoo !!

Could be about General Go Sagye's son, Go Seonji (wiki article) who was a Tang General that fought in several major military campaigns in Western China/Central Asia against the Persians, Sogdians, Turkic tribes, and Muslim forces. You've seen him as a boy when he was trying to help or give water to Dae Joyoung, Heuk Sudol, and Mapa when they were captured and bound in posts in the Chang'an's city square for public display. This was before they were sent by Li Wen to the slave labor camp/human hunt in Mt. Guifu.

I always feel rather sad after a great series ends--- when "The Immortal Yi Soon-Shin" ended I was broken-hearted. That went on for quite a while, and it was a great series; DJY can't hold a candle to the IYSS (DJY is almost like a comic strip), but I still have enjoyed it tremendously and it has been a big part of my week since the first episode was aired. Some time ago someone said there might be another historical drama coming after this... what and when I don't know... we'll see!

A friend of mine told me about Go Sagye's son--- it occured to me that the series might be about him (I couldn't remember his name so I kept my mouth shut). That would be an interesting thing to watch, if that's what the series is about...

No offense to any fans, but I thought this show is way better in story than Immortal Yi Soon Shin series. Villains like Empress Wu, Xue Rengui, Li Wen and his goons, and Li Kaigu and his goons are more human and realistic in behavior than the Samurai villains in IYSS. The Samurais in that series acted like Saturday Morning Cartoon villains always angry at Admiral Yi Soon Shin for defeating them at the end of the show. When in reality Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Samurai Generals had great respect and admiration for Admiral Yi Son Shin like the European Crusaders did with Saladin or Allied commanders did with General Rommel.

I love the portrayal of the characters in DJY. All of the actors, heros, villans, and everyone else, have done an excellent job. Haven't seen IYSS yet.
Just wanted to throw in a comment about WYBE on the East Coast in Phila. They'be been advertising a new format for the station. I'm concerned they might dump Korean dramas as well as all of the ethnic programming. That would be a great loss for the Philadelphia area.

ronin, No offense to you either but....... I have to agree with Nalbal. There were also lots of villains in IYSS too, including the King, the Japanese, Ministers of the Royal Court, some of the Ming commanders,Chunsu, the barbarians and last but not least some of the other Chosun commanders. Would you expect them to portray the Japanese in a good light considering they were ruthless invaders and we just got a hint of the atrocities they committed? Also if I were a Japanese commander or warrior, I'd be mad too since they were not used to defeat and if they failed the conquest they would have to take their own life (to preserve their honor) when they returned to Japan. If you watched the series, you will remember that the Japanese boys started practicing at a very young age to fight and by the age of 12 they already had kills under their belt. I'm sure when you are used to victory and then are defeated, you would be furious and it would be quite a blow to your ego.Yes Hideyoshi and some of the generals had admiration for Admiral Yi Soon Shin, but that made them want to kill him all the more. He was bringing shame upon them every time he defeated them or thwarted their plans for conquest. Many years later there were still Japanese warriors who held the Admiral in high regard and even used some of his strategies in their own battles. If you think the samurai were shown like a Sat. morning cartoons, they also showed many of the Chosun warriors the same way. Do you think they are not showing a lot of characters as clownish or buffoons in DJY? There is also a lot of rage and anger shown in DJY as well, including all of the people you mentioned in your post.

jojo, I haven't noticed the advertising on WYBE you are talking about. I hope they don't dump the K-dramas either. That would be a bummer.

I am wrong about Choi but not the subject ... GO SUNJI (SBS-2009) Also of interest not to be confused with this years "KINGDOM OF THE WIND "(And That not to be confused with the same titled 1998 drama about Crown Prince Saejo )is KING DAEMUSIN (MBC) Who was the grandson of Jumong that invaded Puyo and killed Taeso ,this will air in 2009 Also the same year is THE 4TH EMPIRE (MBC) About the Kingdom of Gaya .IYSS fans take note this year will have a drama about (i think her name is )NANAE (Correct me if wrong )the Kiaseng who seduced a samurai general during the Imjin War and killed herself and her lover (question was this story done in IYSS and if so what episode ?). 2010 allegedly will have quite a few three kingdom Dramas inc more Balhae /Koguryo Drama's .
Sounds Great it would be even greater if their was more than a snowballs chance in hell of seeing them .

I am amazed at how well the Korean Actors portray their characters in these drama's. I was mesmerized from the first time I saw one of the drama's while surfing the channels. It was "Age of Warriors" and I took a liking to the Archfiend character played by Lee Deok Hwa who now plays Xue Rengui in DJY. When you really dislike a character like Shin-hong in DJY it means that the actor is doing a great job. I will miss DJY when it ends just like I missed IYSS and AOW because these characters become part of your life. You can wait until the next episode to air from week to week.

You're absolutely right, snoopdog...someone had pointed out that the actor who plays Shin Hong played Tepyoung, an advisor to Wang Guhn (in the drama Emperor Wang Guhn), a character similar to Mimosa (but "nicer").
Tepyoung died and his death definitely made me sad...quite a contrast to Shin Hong! The years have blurred my memory, but the acting certainly helped as well!

I've been trying to figure out (in another post about another show) why I get so attached to these stories and characters. The whole K-drama thing draws you in so you find yourself planing your day or evening around it. I hate when one comes to an end but there's always another coming up after it (at least so far here on WMBC) I can't imagine how I'd feel if that station changed its programming to "all car chases all the time" or something equally ridiculous. I guess I'd be mortgaging the house for the pricey CDs.

I will be also devastated when DJY ends on AZN. You are right about that they will not start a new Korean historical drama soon (rather rerun old movies). However, I would like them to rerun “Emperor Wang Guhn” (played by Choi Soo Jong). He was the founder of the Koryo dynasty (877-943). Unfortunately, I haven’t seen it but read about it that it was the most successful historical drama in Korea (with 60 percent ratings). I don’t know if “Wang Guhn” was ever shown on AZN but it was broadcasted on WYBE on the East Coast (Philadelphia) in 2002. Actually it was so popular, they rerun the 200 episode series in 2003 also! I have seen only the opening theme on “You Tube”; it’s very impressive! www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8m04MHExmQ I was thinking about that if more people would write to AZN asking them to rerun “Emperor Wang Guhn” they might do it. I’ve found out they don’t even have an e-mail address to contact. They are not interested in their audience’s opinion at all (unlike PBS channels). Unfortunatelly, I was not able to find “Wang Guhn” on DVD either. (I’ve checked every Asian video stores in my area (San Jose, San Francisco). I was wondering if someone from the East Coast (Philadelphia area) could help me ………

almos, I watch on WYBE in PA.. Many of us have tried and came up empty handed. Like you said, there is only the opening theme on You Tube and it's not on DVD either.
