In my opinion very . Everytime Joyoung's army with those raven flags rides into battle to the sound of that rousing uplifting musical score than proceeds to demolish the enemy it makes the hair on my neck stand up ,its so powerful it really adds to the scene .
On one of the scenes from next episode segments (when they show them )there was a great operatic vocal version of the main theme (which the opening credits have never aired in their entirety at least on AZN now its just a few notes and right into DJY )
Some of the sadder moments also have great haunting theme music ,at times the score echos the great Ennio Morricone (in some ways i can here his influence ,there is a marching theme that resembles the second part of On Earth As It Is In Heaven from The Mission Score as well as some of the sad themes could be from the Morricone play book ).
It makes me wonder would i have liked Jumong more if the music had not been so dull and Emperor Of The Sea has an amazing score as did Jewel In The Palace and Conspiracy /Court the music just enhances what is on the screen so much .
I have not picked up the OST because a lot of times when the music is heard without the visuals the impact is lost somewhat or vice versa ,i used to love the score to this 1992 Japanese Taiga Drama "Nobunaga King Of Zipangu "but when i heard the soundtrack without the visuals it was not the same likewise i feel DJY works with that great combination of film and music .

I too love the music, DMC. (Sorry for the incorrect initials but the correct ones sound rude. I should just learn to spell you tag.) Anyway, the martial themes and the love songs stir me and certainly add to the excellence of this drama. I'm less taken with the sound tracks in contemporary stories, particularly the 80's American pop floating in the background while two characters sit in some cafe discussing heavy stuff. The love song in Chill Sisters was moving (Hanam and Seoulchill) but I can take or leave the one in Likable. And ALL of the opening themes of the contemps are insipid, catchy but too lightweight. They remind me of the commercials for FreeCredit Report.com
