Thanks for the clarification, Lucy! Its not that I find it offensive to be labelled a Hispanic. I have a common face and in almost all the countries I visited/lived in, people usually think I'm a native. But I just don't like people forcing me to put down another country as my country of origin. I am very proud of my own country, thank you very much!
Soapy, a person who speaks European Portuguese can understand European Spanish 100%. A person who speaks European Spanish can understand only 60-70% of European Portuguese. I am not sure about the Portugese (spoken in Brazil) and Spanish spoken in Latin America though.

Thanks for the explanation, Lucy. Its not that I would be offended if someone thinks I am from Latin America (the women are beautiful and the men are soo sexy and they really know how to enjoy life!). I have a very common face because in almost every country I have visited/lived in, people usually think I am a native. But I don't like someone ordering me to list another place as my country of origin!

I don't know about Latin America Spanish and Portuguese (spoken in like Brazil). I don't quite understand Latin American Spanish. It sounds a bit rough compared to European Spanish which is a very romantic language! Its kind of like Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia. Same roots but Bahasa Malaysia sounds very rough if you know Bahasa Indonesia.

;D Sheila, you're a linguist for sure speaking so many languages! One of my cousins was a teacher and he spoke 7 languages and 5 African dialects. That always amazes me and I am in awe of you people who can accomplish it! I understand about the Spanish. I have an SIL from Mexico and a niece who majored in Spanish in college. He didn't understand a LOT of what she said and she didn't understand him any better ;D It was so funny. I think European Spanish is basically Castillian which is so-called "pure" Spanish. Iincidentally that is the type spoken in Cuba. All the romance languages are Latin based so I can sometimes get the gist of what's being said but I read it much better than my comprehension by hearing or speaking. It's fascinating isn't it? Wish I was as talented as you in learing languages!

I've noticed that some Telenovelas are obviously dubbed into Spanish, but the actors' lips sure look like they're saying the words. I was told that these shows are actually Brazillian, so they've been dubbed from Portugese.

Soju, I watched 2 or 3 episodes of one series many years back when I was learning Mandarin. The Brazilian drama was dubbed in Mandarin. It was most odd and I could not get used to it. Despite the good plot and acting, I could not bring myself to watch more than a few episodes.

I'm with you, Pippi, on all counts. Except I don't know who you mean by "dumb hubby." well he is dumb because he is getting married for $$ and position, even though his heart is not there, he knows his future wife is going to be a lazy handful but he has closed his eyes to it to make his mom and his future a $$ happy one. well happy in sua's standard.. it is going to be a bumpy ride for that 1rst year at the Na household! if they make it that far.. I can't wait to see Brat go over the line and jerk will finally be fed up and let her have it... she wont accept that for sure. she is the queen and everyone bows to her. she will end up of a broken heart because jerk does not love her.. i am sure deep down inside she knows that he does not love her and is marrying her for the $$. that is why every time she see's jyeong she flips out!

Oh, Seonjae! I thought you meant Seonjae's dad or Danpung's (nonexistent) husband.

Or will they just wait on her all the time? At least the mother said, Sua's still a guest. So after the wedding, I expect to see Sua in the kitchen a lot!! (Not likely, hmm?)

I keep waiting to see when someone will give sua a bottle then burp her. Also, I've come to the conclusion that mrs na is full blown mentally retarded.

Brat and seonjerk should have had smiles on their faces the morning after their first night together.., but while they were getting breakfast and sitting down they looked weird and then he calls work and then tells his Brat wife that he has to leave for work for a little bit.. ah that wont go over with brat very well. she will trow a fit and pout.. i wonder if he will leave when she has her fit.. she will be spitting knives if he leaves her on her honeymoon.. even though i don't like them, i would be MAD too, if my newly wed hubby left me on my honeymoon to go to work when he has not even started the job yet! what emergency! well since he does not really love her, there is no passion. it is just like business like usual! and now he has what he wanted, a better position. and brat is stuck with a hubby who will always be working and don't really pay any attention to her but act like roomates...

I'm with you, brooklyn, on Sua and Mrs. Na.
And, PippiBella, I think there IS passion, but only on Sua's part. She really does love the jerk and he's going to really have to make her miserable before she cuts him loose. If she ever does. These dramas often have the oddest couples reconcile.
