I am a fan who is watching AOW on WYBE in Philly. I missed the whole first part of the series and just began watching about the time the Archfiend was calling himself the Imperial Dragon and going crazy (because Brue was presumed dead?) and KDS was forming Dobang. KDS was the character who really got my interest. By the time he had the duel with Huh Seung, I was hooked. Now it's such a shame that he's dead, and I seem to have missed so much of his life as told on the show. The death and funeral episodes were very moving. I especially liked the dream with the Imperial Guardian. Man, that guy must have been one cool baddie. He was really tempting KDS to kill the emperor. I'm sorry I missed his whole part of the story. Anyway, I have some questions to wrap up the whole Dobang storyline and try to understand what's going on with the new CCH storyline, if any of you who have already finished with the series can help out. When I started watching, I had no idea who anyone was or what was going on. Back when Dobang was forming, Do-Sohn (?) got into a brawl with one of the other Dobangs and KDS threatened to disband the group, and Do-sohn and the other guy poured oil over themselves and were going to light up but KDS forgave them. Who was the guy Do-Sohn was fighting with? Was it Ochuk or someone else. Also, since Dobang is no more and Soran is the only surviver, will she be on the show any more? Or is she gone for good? I feel very ambivalent about Lt. Kim. How far would he have gone to realize the great cause, how much evil would he have done in the name of doing good? He was quite ready to consider killing Ochuk because he was asking too many questions. And his flunky tried to kill Soran when she found him poisoning the medicine. How would he reacted if Soran had been killed? They were his sworn comrades. On to the new storyline. We are up to Episode 101 here. CCH and his servant/buddy (?) left the Archfiend and rode off to a place where a beautiful woman was dancing and "peasant man" was watching. (CCH asked him what he thought of KDS and called him a peasant). What is the relationship of CCH to peasant man and to the woman. Apparently peasant man is not above turning CCH in to General CHO (of the technicolor cape). Also it looked like the beautiful woman was the same one who came in with all the ladies to entertain the imperial army officers after Cho blackmailed them into serving him. Is she a madam> Thanks for any info. Final note. I know people here have very strong loyalties to KDS or the Archfiend. I always get a kick out of the Archfiend, but KDS had my heart. #nosmileys

Hi mugwump: Here are some answers to your questions: I believe it was indeed Oh-chuk who Do-sohn was fighting with. Soran on show anymore? **PHILLY SPOILER*** Sadly no. CCH's peasant man is his slave Manjok. The woman is Madame Red Lotus, and she runs the geisha house. I could tell you more about the last two characters if you wish - just let me know. Hope this helps. edit - P.S. Madame Lotus is CCH's great love.

To add a bit here. The root of the Do-Sohn vs Oh-chuk rivalry comes from their origins in joining the Dobang. The original core members of Dobang were from KDS' home province and Oh-Chuk and Soran were among them. They were, in essence, leaders of a peasant revolt against some of the tyranny of Chungs (who tried to appropriate their land). When KDS first formed the Dobang, these peasant warriors formed the backbone of the group. A bit later a group of notorious bandits around the imperial city, led by Do-sohn came to volunteer to join KDS. Initially KDS refused to let them join but eventually relented. For awhile there was a lot of friction between Do-sohn's group and the original Dobang members.

Whassup Mugwump. I live in Norristown, so I'm probably not too far away from wherever you are at. By the way, I think that Ohchuk is the most annoying character to appear on AOW. What's your take on him?

Aw, I liked Ochuk. But I missed a lot of episodes, so I may not have seen him at his most annoying. I also liked Huh Seung, even after I finally figured out that he was one of the bad guys. Loved the old Dowager when she went on a rant. I'll miss her.

Personal preference with Ohchuck, I just didn't find him believable as a tough guy. No accounting for tastes. I'm with you on Huh Seung and the Dowager. Too bad her idiot son Myung Jong didn't listen to her. Even before KDS he got himself into trouble with Chung Jung Bu when he wouldn't listen to her. Always pays to listen to Mama's advice!

Great to see AOW is still bringing in new fans. Anyway, since a lot of new fans are confused when viewing the drama series by accident I will try to explain what happen until the death of KDS. This is gonna be a long, very long summary. So I advise you to read this when you have some free time. Grab a drink or something to eat, sit down, and begin to read. In Ui Jong reign, soldiers were treated like dogs and looked upon as war tools. As the emperor was traveling on a snowy path, three soldiers decided enough was enough and planned a rebellion. Yi Ui Bang Yi Ko Chung-Bu After killing a lot of royal officials, they decided to overthrow the emperor and install his brother, Myong-Jong . Ui Jong was exiled to a secluded island with his lover Muby. . Myong-Jong was a guy who was thrown into a position he wasn't ready for, so the warriors easily manipulated him with fear. Yi Ui Bang, Yi Ko, and Che won formed an alliance to better the world by destroying the corruption in the government and create a peaceful one. The warriors also took charge of the Central Committee so that the warriors can have a say in state affairs. Chung-bu became head leader in the new group. Meanwhile, Yi Ui Bang was having a affair with Muby. Yi Ko became very angry because Ui Bang was still dealing with someone who was in the regime of keeping the warrior class down. Later on, Yi Ko became obsessed with a legend, told by a monk , about someone with Yi in their name would become emperor. Yi Ko, then, became suspicious that he or Yi Ui Bang were destined to become emperor and wanted an excuse to eliminate Ui Bang. Yi Ko monk friends found out that Ui Bang was having a affair with Muby and even sent young loyal officer, Yi Ui Min, to return Muby to the capital city. With founding the proof he needed, Yi Ko develop an army to eliminate Ui Bang and capture the crown himself. During his invasion, Ui Bang found out and sent Yi Ui Min to deal with him. Ui Min fought Yi Ko one on one and Ui Min became victorious. With the death of Yi Ko, Che won became suspicious of his close friend. By Ui Bang sending out orders to kill his ally so freely, Che Won became paranoid. Ui bang planned a meeting with Che Won to calm his friend down, when Yi Ui Min and Ui Bang army crashed the party . They thought Che Won was planning a sneak attack on Ui Bang. Che Won was then killed by a massive assault of arrows. With both his friends dead , Ui Bang threw himself more into becoming a dictator and focused on obtaining more power for the pain. Meanwhile, Chung Bu was also scheming on how to gain more power in the system. He placed his son, Chun Kyun, in the Imperial army to keep close watch on Ui Bang moves, while he worked on the royal officials and the imperial family. With people still supporting the former emperor because he ws still the legitmate ruler, the Empress Dowager decided to kill her eldest son in order for Myong-Jong to be looked upon as a real leader. She asked Ui Bang to carry out this secret mission but he declined. He later sent his loyal officer, Ui Min, to accomplish to task. Ui Min wasn't sure if he wanted to be known as a person who killed the emperor, but he had confidence in Ui Bang and decided to accept it. When Ui Min killed the former emperor , a sour feeling came upon the land. The empress dowager regretted the mission and Chung-Bu now had something to blackmail both Ui Bang and the dowager to gain more power. Ui Bang and the dowager only proof of being involved with the plan was Ui Min. Ui Min was told to stay in hiding until the scandal died down. Ui Bang indulged himself even more with power since he had nothing to fear about. He killed monks and destroyed their temples, his officers ran through villiages and burned everything down, and he even had his daughter marry the crown prince for even more power. So now he would become the crown prince father-in-law and become related tho the emperor. On the other end of all this turmoil, a young soldier rose up to Ui bang and declared that Ui Bang should stop all this nonsense. His name was, Kyung Dae Sung . Chung-Bu needed to act fast so his son,Chun Kyun, created a fake letter that stated Ui Bang had confessed that he had nothing to do with the murder and Ui Min was the one behing everything. Ui Min became very angry and rushed to the capital city. In the captial city, Chun Kyun started dating the empress dowager younger sister,Madam Yim . In reality, Chun Kyun was just using her to become related with the imperial family like Ui Bang. The empress dowager spotted the scheme and told her sister that she would marry Ui Bang to protect the imperial family from any action from Chung-Bu clan. Chun Kyun became pissed off and wanted revenge. During army training, Chun Kyun stabbed Ui Bang in the chest. In a ferocious fighting sequence, Bang fought Chun Kyun army by himself. Ultimately, Ui Bang was overwhelmed and was killed. INTERMISSION........

SUB PLOTDuring some of these episodes, we get to know the Archfiend background history. Yi Ui Min was born from a peasant salt merchant and his mother worked as a maid at a buddhist temple. The governer of Surabul {former capital of Shilla and Yi Ui Min hometown} , had Yi Ui Min and his brothers arrested because he wanted to set an example for the rest of the people. He had them arrested, and charged for conspiracy {they said that they were bad-mouthing the emperor} The torture went out of hand , and Yi Ui Min's brothers died. To shut Ui Min up, he accused his mistress, of being a whore, and sent her to marry Ui Min. Also, we see how the archfiend got into the military and his relationship with Du Kyung. Also, Brue never talk again because of the violence he witnessed. (I'm not sure about this one. If someone remembers, please let me know) back to the main story.... Yi Ui Bang ,the most feared warrior in the land, is now dead. When news spread, everyone was shocked. Muby decided her goal with Ui Bang was over(they both wanted the emperor seat for Ui Bang),became a wanderer, and sent her child to become a buddhist. Ui Bang first wife was strucked hard as well as his daughter. Chun Kyun, now with Ui Bang out the picture and his clan gaining more power, dumped Madam Yim and focused with his father to take complete control. Losing her lover, Madam yim decided to kill herself . Chun Kyun became extremely angry at her suicide because deep down he still loved her. Now, Chung-Bu became the most powerful warrior. He appointed his son as general and his son-in-law in the royal court. . Eventually, he put himself as the head leader of the royal court. Powerful positions did not satisfied Chung enough so he searched for a young beautiful lady to become the emperor cocubine so he could know how the emperor really feels about him. But there was one person Chung Bu feared and that was the archfiend. He knew if Ui Min was allowed back to the city, his head would be the first to go. Chung-Bu sent an army to kill Ui Min while Chun Kyun,on the other hand, used the people to kill Ui Min by issuing a bounty on Ui Min head. Ui Min, now a fugitive, left his family and went up north in hiding. While hiding, he met up with some of the former officers in his unit under Yi Ui Bang army. They decided to have a drink to talk about old times. The "old friends" poisoned Ui Min cup to get the reward, but Ui Min managed to fight back. Ui Min army, which had Brue and General Park , fought the betrayers and brought Ui Min to a save place. SUB PLOTWhen Yi Ui Min was in hiding in the north, a mysterious elderly man came looking for him at his house in the capital city. He would later be known as master Duduel Duduel was a buddhist priest who left his practice to try to resurrect the fallen shilla empire. He watched Ui Min since he was a child, and knew he was special and would become the imperial dragon. The imperial dragon was someone who would kill the koryo emperor, restore shilla, and bring peace to the people. Since Yi Ui Min already killed a Koryo Emperor, Duduel had no question who the Imperial dragon was. When Duduel found Ui Min, Ui Min wasn't interested in the gibberish talk. He could careless about the people and only wanted chung-bu head. Back to the main plot...... When Ui Min woke up , he found himself being treated by a unknown woman. When Yi Ui Min asked who she was, she replied that her name was Bu-Young and that she was glad her destiny was completed and she finally found the imperial dragon. In the capital city, the Chung clan are just creating havoc. Chun Kyun lost all respect for the emperor amd the dowager. The son-in-law was handing out government jobs for money. The young girl, Chung-Bu gave to the emperor, started messing with the proper functions of selecting a wife for the emperor. She wanted to become empress so Chung-Bu can become related to the royal family like Ui Bang. Also, Chun Kyun tried to get Myong-Jong daughter to marry him. Kyung Dae Sung father , saw where this is going and joined the Chung-Bu gang. KDS argue with his father to stop helping them but his father didn't listen. Chung-Bu still had another issue to deal with. Although he had power, Yi Ui Bang daughter was still married to the crown prince. Chung-Bu decided that since her father was involved with killing the former emperor she was as much guilty as him. The empress dowager had enough with the threats and raised her voice and said the princess was not going anywhere. But the dowager forgot that Chung-Bu knew that she was involved with the murder also. If word got out that she had something to do with the murder the royal family would be ruined. So the empress dowager stood helplessly as Chun Kyun removed the princess . But someone blocked his way. To Be Continued.......

While Chun Kyun was on his way to throw out the princess, someone came in and blocked his way out. It was KDS . He yelled at Chun Kyun at the disrespectful behavior he showed against the Empress Dowager and the royal family. He demanded that Chun Kyun let the princess go but Chun Kyun just stared at KDS and walked off angry. KDS apologized to the empress dowager of the conflict and left. The Empress Dowager became very impressed at KDS standing up to the ruthless Chun Kyun and ordered more information on the brave soldier. The princess was officially dismissed and brought back to her old home with her mother. Her mother wondered why her daughter was back and realized what happened when her daughter began crying. Ui Bang first wife and his daughter decided it was best to leave the capital city and start a new life together. Meanwhile, Chun Kyun became steamed over the incident with KDS and talked with his father about what to do about KDS. Chung-Bu tells him not to worry because he can easily control the situation with KDS father. Chung-Bu then had a one on one chat with KDS father and explain that if he plans on sticking to the good side of the Chung Clan he better behave his son. KDS father became scared at the possibility being on the opposite side of Chung-Bu and begged him for forgiveness for his stupid son. The Empress Dowager send message that she would like to have a talk with KDS. During the meeting, Myong-Jong daughter saw KDS and was immediately attracted to him. The empress Dowager issued KDS an upper rank position, for what he did previously against Chun Kyun, but KDS turns it down. He claimed that he was only doing his job as a servant to the imperial house and nothing else. The empress dowager became even more impressed. Learning about the meeting between Chung-Bu and KDS father, Chun Kyun decided to increase the tension. He asked KDS father to give up all his lands in order for the Chung clan to go pass the conflict and become friends again. KDS father, unwillingly, agrees to the term and later becomes ill. When KDS learn about the action he was furious and demanded to talk with his father. When he found his father he's strucked hard to see his father seriously ill. His father then told KDS not to follow his example and try to bring back the pride of the Kyung clan and then died. In the other part of town, the imperial army is still-hunting Ui Min. Ui Min is still ill when his army is under attack. General Park , trying to give Ui Min some time to escape, speed ahead to pursue the enemy when he was lead into an ambush. He fought off 30 or so soldiers when he was stabbed by a spear and then later by 20 or so spears were thrust into his body killing him. When Ui Min spotted General Park body he went into tears. Then after the tears all hell broke loose as Ui Min went berserk on the people in the nearby town. He slaughtered anything in sight without any question. Bu-Young was quite disturbed by this and wenr to master dudel for some advise. She then faked her own death to bring Ui Min back to his senses (By this time, Ui Min and Bu-Young are supposedly married). When Ui Min learned that Bu-Young “killed herself, “ he stoped everything and collect his thoughts. SUBPLOTWe now go into the romance/soap opera part of the show. Myong-jong daughter is really caught by Kyung bravery and wanted to meet him more. The Empress Dowager and Myong-jong decides that the princesses, Myong-jong had two daughters , are at marrying ages and needed to be arranged to someone. The princess already wanted KDS and asked her grandmother to talk with KDS about marriage. When the Empress Dowager asked for KDS to marry the princess he declined. He explained that he was just a humble warrior and he should not be related to the imperial family and was more focused on protecting them. The real truth was that KDS knew that if he were brought into the imperial family the Chungs would do anything to create havoc. The princess was pissed off and believed that KDS did not like her . She became melodramatic about everything and accepted another man in marriage to piss KDS off. Back to the main plot… The archfiend army is still on the run from the imperial army. In fleeing the battle, the archfiend meets general Du[IMG img.photobucket.com/albums/v324/otaku61/s_0429.jpg[/IMG]. General Du told Ui Min that he was under arrest for killing the former emperor. Ui Min had enough with the small talks and attacked General Du. They both fought one on one but their battle was interrupted by the archfiend 1st wife. After the battle, Ui Min told General Du what really happened with the Emperor murder. As General Du left, General Yi told him that the next time they meet, only one of them will leave alive. Later, General Du lets told evrybody that Ui-min was acting on orders from the Empress Dowager. The warriors were shocked, especially, Chung-Bu since his blackmail scheme was gone now that the secret is out. The Empress Dowager involvement in the murder, actually, didn't do no harm to her. Myong-Jong is actually angry at what his mother did but he knew she was doing it for his own benefit. General Du tried to exempt Ui Min charges of treason but the central committee still wouldn‘t allow that. We then see the secret army KDS and Huh Seung have together. There are about 30 skilled warriors who sole mission was to keep the imperial family safe and to never let another rebellion take place. Huh Seung wanted the Chung Clan killed off because they were created turmoil in the government and told KDS to join his cause. KDS refused the sudden attack and planned to wait. KDS left his rank as chief convoy because of the corruption in the government. Time went on and the Chung Clan became worse. Everyone knew the only one to have the courage to go against the Chung Clan was KDS. The Empress Dowager asked for help, the princess asked for help, and fellow soldiers asked for his help. KDS refused all of them and continued to wait patiently until the Chungs did something worth killing for. The Chungs luck begun dropping fast. The scandal of Chung-Bu young female concubine to the emperor was exposed. When the scandal broke, Chung-Bu rejected her and claimed he never seen her in his life. The young lady was shocked and ashamed for being involved with such a clan. She confessed Chung-Bu plans to another concubine , who told the emperor himself. The emperor was now tired of being used as a puppet by the Chungs and brought KDS back to the military for a secret mission. He told KDS to kill the Chungs only and not their followers. That way, he’ll just be killing off the main targets and not ignite a full-blown riot. KDS accepted the mission and told Huh Seung to gather the group to begin the operation. The first Chung to go was Chung Kyun. Chung Kyun ran for his life and tried to hide in the Empress Dowager chambers. The Empress told Chung to get the heck out of her place and sent guards to remove him. Huh Seung and some of the secret army spotted Chun Kyun and finished him. Chun Kyun died and two more were on the list. Chung-Bu son-in-law was hiding in a pigpen when they spotted him. He triedto bribe them with gold but they slashed him open instead. Now the only one alive was Chung-Bu but he escaped the city already. Days went on when suddenly Chung-Bu came riding back to the capital by himself. Chung-Bu stated that he was a true warrior that didn’t want to run away from his death. Chung-Bu was sentenced to death by the emperor for messing with the government. Before his death, the Empress Dowager went to talk to her old friend (They were friends before the 1170 rebellion). After an emotional speech, Chung-Bu was carried to the street where he was executed publicly. To Be continued.......
