Strange you should mention My Sweetheart, My Darling, teacher. I was just thinking the other day how much that show and A Happy Woman are alike. IMHO the characters are almost the same.

In my sweetheart my darling, inyoungs ex kijoon was a real Mamma's BOY! i remember the reason they broke up was that inyoung could not get pregnant and the mom in law told her either she gets pregnant or she will get a surrogate to carry the baby! Now that is a WITCH!! she was so mean to inyoung!! never even reaised her head to her. i felt bad for jaemin. he loved her but she still loved her ex. at the end it was very sweet that inyoung finally pregnant with her ex child. and they dance together at the last scene. that drama was my first when i discovered k dramas!!

U.T. is the same as Heejoo and the MIL's are the same as well except one doesn't screech like the other LOL. On the other hand, Jiyeon isn't as timid as Inyoung and Junho has more stones than Kijoon, so this show is more exciting to watch. That and you don't have to turn the volume down to squelch the screech. I don't really see Junho's SIL as being two faced, really. I think she did what she did in order to prevent Junho from marrying U.T. Still, I think it's funny the way she keeps subtly throwing herself at Doofus the Dermatologist. This show is getting better by the episode, can't wait until next week!

TWO NEW WORDS were introduced in this evenings episode: 1. child 2. daughterAn occasional 'kid' was used ... mostly by the wretched characters. I rather liked the father daughter scenes

The actress who played In-young (Lee Bo-young) has appeared in several TV dramas since "My Sweetheart, My Darling," but only one ("Mr. Goodbye") was a KBS show, and I don't think it was ever shown in Chicago (it wasn't shown on my TAN satellite service, either). She also appeared late last year in a SBS drama series called "Queen of the Game." That one was broadcast on my TAN satellite service, but the show wasn't subtitled, so I only watched it occasionally and I don't remember much about it. But, she's still around and doing acting jobs. I still maintain that Lee Bo-young is one of Korea's prettiest actresses. The actor who played Jae-min (Lee Chang-hoon) has quite a following here amongst the ladies. ;D He recently appeared in a SBS drama called "My Love" that ran with subtitles here in America on TAN and SBS America. It was a somewhat lightweight but pleasant drama. I really didn't like the actor who played Ki-joon (Kim Seung-soo) when he appeared in "My Sweetheart." The guy REALLY irritated me. So, I was amazed when he played Prince Tae-so in the MBC historical drama "Jumong." I didn't even recognize him at first, and I still can't believe that the actor who played that weenie in "My Sweetheart" came off so convincingly as the ruthless Tae-so. He was really terrific in that role.

We got Mr. Goodbye in Chicago. I didn't care much for the drama though. I agree that LBY is pretty but I don't think she's a good actress.

It is my understanding that it IS the case that the child's father has all rights to take the child. This is especially true if his family is rich and/or influential. In My Sweetheart, My Darling, that was what the witch MIL wanted to do with Haejin's?? baby. In light of this, I can see Jiyeon keeping the baby's father's identity a secret. Also, in doing so, she brings embarassment on herself as a loose woman in having a baby with another man before being divorced from her husband. I think this also shows her love for her baby, in wanting to raise her in the best possible way. Hi, the law has changed. Even the detective told Jiyeon that! And I have a few friends who were raised by single mothers because the Korean court gave custody to mother and not the father. Its no longer because you are male, you get custody. If your spouse is a foreigner and intends to take the child out of the country, then its a different story. But that's also the same with US court, right? If you think TV really shows what life is really like in Korea. Well on most Korean shows, the mother rules the household, the father is kind but weak and completely controlled by the wife. The women all don't work, sit around all there and only jump to attention when their husband comes home! Yet these women who know nothing about what's happening in the real world, rule their household!

You'd probably get more response if you put it out in the regular part of the forum. (Lots of people don't even look in this thread because they don't want to be spoiled.) Try opening a thread called "need recap for Sat 7/28" and plead pitifully there, LOL. Bo

Lee Bo Young also played in Save the Last Dance for Me. She played the nasty girl though. It didn't appear on Chicago TV, but I was able to rent it from Netflix They have quite an assortment of KDrama Disc Sets. One that I would recommend is Palace, the Princess. It is a delightful comedy starring 4 unknown young actors who really did a great job.
