Thanks for the info on Xue Rengui. I like the guy, even though he's with Tang. What a surprise to see Li Wen begging the deposed crown prince!!! My jaw hit the floor. Amazing! Interesting twist on the poisoned cup. Ahh, the intrigue in the Tang Court! Not my cup of tea. Not looking forward to the 'hunt' on the mountain.

EPISODE# 73
I was pretty sure DJY would drink both cups as I noted earlier, but to actually contain poison was interesting. What did the doctor use as an antidote? Don't you need to know what poison it was to determine what to use to counteract it? Maybe it had a distinctive smell that the doctor recognized but DJY didn't. Man, DJY has more lives than a cat! :oWhat did the crown prince have to gain by killing DJY? Yeah, the palace doesn't seem to be a place you'd want to hang out, always having to watch your back. I really can't stand the crown prince, what a loser. I didn't see Friday's episode yet (have it on tape), I was too tired from staying up all night to go out shopping on black Friday.

Disregard what I said about what would the crown prince have to gain by killing DJY. I understand his motive now.

DJY has more lives that 9 cats with 9 lives but together! I would think the palace physicians are well trained in dealing with poisonings; probably get lots of practice! Possibly the original container was poisoned to ensure both cups contained the poison. I would think the smell, taste and symptoms would give the physicians clues as to what the poison was.
Chorin comes through in helping Dae Jo Young! Still not sure what she's thinking about him, probably still in love with him. I wonder if she sees herself in Sukyoung's position. Good of Chorin not to act in jealosy and spite towards Sukyoung, which would be very easy to do.
Excellent observation by Shin Hong. Can't wait to see what plot Li Kaigu and Chorin will devise to trap the Li Xian, the crown prince.
I first thought the final scene with the hand cutting was a bit much, but I have to admire Dae Jo Young's absolute determination to convince the other tribal leaders to stay and fight. Excellent tactical advantage of the bamboo spears over the swords.

EPISODE# 73 & 74 I agree jojo,9 cats with 9 lives each. That's about right ha ha. Yes, I'm sure the palace docs have lots of practice with poisonings. I also think Chulin still has feelings for DJY but things have gone too far to turn back now. I think DJY and Princess Sukyoung make a nice couple. They are both kind and thoughtful. Also she is a lot more loyal, gentle, and stable in her feelings for DJY. You never questioned her love for DJY.Yes, it should be interesting to see if Shin Hong, Li Kaigu, and Chulin come up with a working plan to eliminate the prince. I thought the same thing about the hand cutting scene. He would have cut tendons in his hand considering how hard he squeezed and slid that knife. Something else I've been noticing for awhile. The phrase "there's no time or there's not enough time". I don't know why they say that so much.Did you notice after the hunt began, Li Wen and his men were right behind the prisoners slaughtering them, and all of a sudden they had fallen back enough for DJY & Co. to have a conversation with the other "prey" about not running up the hill? I didn't realize they could out run horses, amazing! Nobody EVER made it off Mt. Guifu alive, but I think there is a first time for everything. Any guesses who will accomplish this unbelievable feat? One more thing, I never realized until recently that the Empress was a Vulcan (check out her eyebrows). No, she must be a Romulan because Vulcans control their emotions and Romulans haven't mastered that yet.

Bummer on the VCR seven stars! Hope you had it fixed. I suppose that the hunters were in much smaller numbers than the 'creatures,' which seemed to number about 400 from the comments of the 'camp director,' though we didn't actually see that many. So possibly the prey did manage to scatter. What I thought was weird was that the whole camp seemed to be emptied out. Who is going to work the quarry & mine?! I suppose hunting down just Dae Jo Young & co would have been too easy and not much 'fun.' When DJY does get off of Mt Guifu, then what? I'd think more Tang armies would be after him then.... unless he meets up with the Turks. Can't say I've noticed over use of those phrases. Though it could be the translators, who seem to leave stuff out here and there. Did you notice DJY's facial hair? Looks like some of it was painted on his face! Could have used a better color. The Empress seems as cold as a fish to me. I love her laugh. Seems to be an act, put on for the ministers.

EPISODE# 74 I'm sure they will manage to fill the prison camp again without much problem since the Tang seem to consider most ethnic groups criminals or animals as they were called. Maybe they let everyone out because they were tired of feeding them all that delicious grub. I have a feeling help is waiting when they get off the mountain, don't you? I didn't notice DJY's facial hair as you described. I will make a point of taking notice tonight. How funny, maybe they ran out of black. I wish the translators would write exactly what is said. A lot of times they will write one sentence and the conversation is longer. I want to know everything that is said. Just like when they use the same word for General, Commander, Admiral, or sir. Yeah ,the Empress is quite the Ice Queen and her laugh is mocking in a way.

"Mocking" is an excellent description for The Laugh: just enough to not be overtly insulting, but enough that the ministers get it. I may have underestimate Chulin. At first I thought she gave Sukyoung the dagger because Chulin still has feelings for DJY, but now I'm beginning to think that she did it to help the Khitans out of the 'pathetic' situation they've gotten into. What a hot piece of information about the weapons cache!! I thought Chulin might tell Li Kaigu about the crown prince's advances and use that to trap him, but using the weapons would be even better. Look out Li Wen!! His days may be numbered with Xue Rengui & his new friend Jungsang headed to Mt. Guifu. XR is itching to knock off a few of his competitors and Jungsang wants to get his son back. Should be interesting! (BTW, the facial hair looked normal last night.)

EPISODE# 75 jojo, I don't think Chulin telling her hubby about the prince's advances toward her would have amounted to more than a few sneers and maybe a threat or two. Who's friends and who's enemies sure has completely changed. Xue Rengui and Dae Jungsang calling each other friends? It's hard to believe Li Kaigu and Shin Hong hate Li Wen more than DJY right now. Then again they only care about what benefits them, just like waiting to see whether to align themselves with the Empress or the crown prince. Sure is a lot of back stabbing and looking out for #1 going on. Yeah, it should be interesting to see what they do with the bombshell about the prince's hidden weapons. It figures his beard looked normal because I was looking out for it. In case you didn't notice, Li Wen said "there is no time" last night when he was sending for reinforcements. I don't know why, but I've noticed them saying that a lot (even DJY). I don't think anyone would miss Li Wen. Isn't it about time for him to be terminated? Next I would like to see Shin Hong erased.

So much for the hidden weapons being a hot piece of news; at least not for catching Li Xian. Did serve a purpose in forewarning the Khitans. That one of the things I like about this show: never know for sure where things are headed. ;D It's a long, long way from Andong Protectorate to Chang' an. Like the Khan said, their situation was pathetic, and they were skating on thin ice. (I wonder is that is also a colloquialsm in Korean.) They went from being in charge to being pawns in the Tang court; everything went topsy-turvy. Old enemies have become friends, to be replaced with new enemies. Will be interesting to see what happens with Li Wen. Who would have thought he'd be snared like a rabbit?! Very humiliating. The deposed crown prince sure crumbled quickly! I can't believe he fell for the ruse that his father was dead. Duh!! I thought he was more shrewd than that. Perhaps the Empress was right in saying he wasn't capable of running the empire if he could be tricked so easily. The Khitans must have been keeping very close watch on him, to know he was out of his chambers and to put someone in, in disguise. I wonder what the ministers were trying to tell him that night, that the Emporer was still alive? I wonder why the prince acted without letting them know first. Duh, duh, duh! I'll keep an ear out for "there is no time." Very nice for father & son to be together again.

EPISODE# 76 Actually there were two instances where that line was used on Friday night. When DJY and DJS were together after DJS gave DJY the rice ball and dad said "there is no time to be emotional". The next one was in the woods when Li Wen and his men were being attacked by DJY and his men and one of them said "there is no time, we have to get out of here". It's just sort of funny. It was nice to see father and son reunited after thinking he was dead AGAIN. Yeah, I didn't think the Emperor was dead either, so I'm surprised CP Li Xian fell for it. The look on his face was priceless when the Emperor staggered out. The Empress is quite the villain. I tell you, it's those eyebrows! I'm very curious to see how the CP weasels his way out of this. When there is no other way, make friends with your enemies while keeping your dagger or sword close by. I hope they get enough food in trade for Li Wen. I don't think he's worth much except to some of his deluded, loyal, subordinates maybe. Unless the Empress thinks he's still useful. Seeing him caught in a trap hanging upside down was hilarious. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. ;D One part has me a little confused though. How long was that human hunt going on? It was a bit far fetched that DJY made all those weapons by himself with his knife overnight. How did he and the remaining prisoners build that encampment complete with towers and fences tied together with rope. Then all those booby traps and snares held together again with rope. Sure it was fun to see the hunted become the hunters, but unless I missed something, how did they do that in what was supposed to be a short amount of time?

Snaring Li Wen was a very nice surprise! I could see making a number of bamboo spears overnight (they could take turns, and could find a stone to sharpen the blade, though the bamboo would have to be disconnected from the plant without the knife) but the rest is a bit far fetched. I hadn't thought about the rope before! Maybe the soldiers were carrying rope with them; but since they planned to kill the prisoners, there wouldn't be a need to tie anyone up, so they might not carry it. The whole camp, meeting room, etc was a bit over the top for only 3 days, even with having 100 or so men. I could see a shelter and a watch tower, but not two towers, fence, table, chairs, etc. This episode had good symmetry: Li Kaigu caught Li Xian, and Dae Jo Young caught Li Wen. ;D

EPISODE# 75 & 76 Today jojo wrote: This episode had good symmetry: Li Kaigu caught Li Xian, and Dae Jo Young caught Li Wen. ;D I agree jojo. BUSTED! Maybe Ty Pennington and his crew were there in the forest and helped them out. After all look what they can can build in a week.
