Without giving away spoilers, in episode 20 , a doctor mentions how a certain character has been infected by germs due to an injury that character had.
Did Korean science really know about germs back then? The diagnosis seemed like something from the 1900's, not the 600's!
i was just curious...

In Dae Jang geum, little JG uses her mother's methods of cleaning after a yellow dust storm, and people don't get sick where she is, altho they do everywhere else. It's a clue about germs (or at least spores or something), but how did the mother know, when it wasn't already policy in the royal kitchen?

I think it's an absurd mistake of the writer and director of this series especially if the term 'germs' was used. The writer should have read a book on history of medicine.

I think the english subtitles may be inaptly put it was 'germs'. If I remember right, when that episode was shown over here in Singapore cable tv, it used the word 'poison'. The sword used was already swathed with poison.

You beat me to it...I was going to ask if that is the word that was spoken??
Or is that just what the subtitler used as a translation???
They can be very different.

Then someone might say which characters are involved and give the dialogue. In DJG, they showed how carefully records were kept, at least of the important, ie royal, events.
