First of all, JP, DON'T READ THIS TIL YOU SEE THE EPISODE.
Now then, I just wanted to point out a couple of things that caught my attention. Firstly, has anyone else noticed that the two champions of Liandong and Pyongyang kind of seem like younger versions of Geon Yaonseong and Yang Manchun? I did want to say though, that I almost threw up during the final scene when that guy that was torturing DJY's mom with the branding iron.......that has to be one of the most disturbing, disgusting things I've ever seen (even though it was implied for the most part). All I can say is that I hope DJY is able to exact 1,000,000 times the pain on that guy before he dies. Otherwise, a great series so far.

what is Liandong? I've never heard of such city. Two champions of Liandong and Pyongyang? The champion of Pyongyang must be Heuk Soo Dol. The other champion is from Yodong and his name is Gulsa Biwoo. Liandong? ? where the hell did that come from? The torturing part is fictional since DJY was NEVER a slave and he lived with his real dad and mom happily until Koguryo's last day.

are you serious? Dae Joyoung was never a slave? why would they change such a big part of his life?
the torture scene was crazy. I can't believe Joyoung held on for so long and sat there watching his mother get tortured. that was so sad!!!! Well at least we found out that his dad is alive. I can't wait til the whole family reunites. And Yang Manchun already suspects Gaedong as being Joyoung, so I wonder if he'll come to his rescue.

Yes, they weren't. The only time his family even had to remotely be under that kind of pressure was when they escaped to the Yinzhou province of Tang land. I think the writer changed that crucial part of his life to best suit audiences. More empathetic the character comes across, more people would like to see the show. Looks, like the famiyl won't get back together on happy terms though. These previews are as much a curse as they are helpful; the temptation: to look or not to look. I really hope this show doesn't depress me more than it already has begun to. What with Invisible Man Choi Jang Soo and Infamous Chill Sisters, one has only so many tears to shed in a week! The actor playing Dae Jo Young is one of my favorites. The torture scene was pretty gruesome. The pain in Jo Young's eyes, not just because he knows that the woman having her bones crushed is his mother, but because he's just a naturally caring person. Good qualities for a future King.

I don't know you guys had a chance to see the Sea God, but that was so good. Same actor played the lead in that as well. I don't know why KBS didn't show Sea God.
Anyway, both characters start out as slaves to become great heros. Choi is such a good actor. He won an award for Sea God.

Wow, my tape ran out near the end of episode 10, and I didn't realize I'd missed so much. Can you fill me in? Last thing I saw was DJY's mom peeping at him after he had recovered from the poison. Thanks!

Wow, my tape ran out near the end of episode 10, and I didn't realize I'd missed so much. Can you fill me in? Last thing I saw was DJY's mom peeping at him after he had recovered from the poison. Thanks! An underling of YeonGaesamun (?) sees the mother in the market and tells YGSM. They follow her. Coincidentally, the mother's friend sets up a meeting for DJY and mo. at night. She tells him he is not a slave, his father is noble and is at another fort. She won't answer when he repeatedly asks if she is his mother. She gives him a necklace so his father will accept him when they finally meet. Then YGSM's guys come in and drag them to his house. [Yang Manchun hears of a woman and young man taken.] Meantime they are beaten but do not confess to their true identities. They torture the mother but she tells him (by a headshake) not to talk, so he obeys.

Yang Manchun never rescues DJY... in fact.... SPOILER WARNING!!! DELETED. Real, you need to NOT do that in a thread that has a specific episode number stated. You post this info on the thread LABELED spoiler. The part about Dae Jo Young calling him "father" IS OK for this thread, but not that last part. If you watched the show before, i can understand if you forget...things start to blend together after a while. So please be care what you write... THANKS! But if it has NOT been shown in the episode stated in the title, that thread is NOT the place to write future info.

Actually, DJY and his mom are being held and tortured by Bu Ki Won. Thanks, Knov1. The creepy court guy had them, of course. Who found recognized the mother? It was a big guy, was it a soldier? Reporting to Bu? (Or to Yeon?) Sheesh, and I thought I was following it.

Reporting to Bu? (Or to Yeon?) Sheesh, and I thought I was following it. The big guy who reported to Bu has to be Sa Bu Gu. I don't know if he's a fictional character or real person though. Is this considered as a spoiler? Because i didn't really watch anything, its just an introduction of the character from KBS.com KBS's DJY website says that Sa Bu Gu will join the Tang army after Koguryo's downfall. I hate this guy.
Yes, it's a spoiler if you didn't get it from the broadcast episodes on Chicago's schedule, in other words, if you're ahead of us, or if it's future information. Thanks for the warning; I almost missed it. Put all such info on the spoiler thread from now on. (I do appreciate your answering my question. )

...Is this considered as a spoiler? Because i didn't really watch anything, its just an introduction of the character from KBS.com REAL, it's considered a spoiler if you post something that happens in a later episode. So that would include when a website obviously contains something that is from a later episode than we're seeing in Chicago. Also, JP (and maybe Knov1 too, I can't remember) came up with this system of putting the episode numbers in the title of the thread so people could choose which threads to read, and that thread would contain only info from that episode or before. Also, we opened a spoiler thread, where you can post anything about the series or the history that you like. Finally, if you know historical information (and I see you do), it would be polite, kind and helpful if you'd refrain from posting "future" history that talks about later history in the series than we're on here. Hope that's clearer than mud. Bo
