He's the leader of North Korea. Kim Jong Il. I don't know if he's their "Beloved Leader" like his father, tho.
Holy cow (from Wikipedia): President Kim Il-sung died July 8, 1994, at age 82 of a heart attack. He was not replaced as President, and received the designation of "Eternal President", resting in the Kumsusan Memorial Palace in central Pyongyang. The active position has been abolished in deference to the memory of Kim Il-sung. Kim Jong-il officially took the titles of General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defense Commission on October 8, 1997. In 1998, his Defense Commission position was declared to be "the highest post of the state", so Kim may be regarded as North Korea's head of state from that date. Since Kim is not the president, he is not constitutionally required to hold elections to confirm his legitimacy and has not done so. Boy, that's a good trick!

Nth Korean leader KJI is also powerful Korean, even he's BAD A$$. He's more powerful than Mr.Bush Jnr of USA & HuZinTao of China ;D Now who's gonna challenge him? There's an old saying--Every dog has its day. ;D He's just like Stalin but the world is no longer the same as in Stalinist times. I sincerely doubt that he'll be able to live out his tyranical reign and die in power like Mao. Globalism is creating too many pressures. And other Communist leaders got their comeuppance through carefully plotted coups, staged to look like popular uprisings. Romania in 1989 is a prime example. And in the former Czechoslovakia there was No "Velvet Revolution". That was another planned take-over made to look like a mass movement, but in reality was orchestrated by the Czech secret police leadership! He'll get it like any other petty tyrant got it--killed by a mob like Italy's fascist wunder-kind Benito Mussolini or Romania's Communist henchman Nicholai Ceausescu. Or maybe by a "trusted" aide. Et, tu Bruti?

This is reply from other thread about Chulin, DJY and Kaigu. Well, Kaigu seems to have won her over with his protection and acceptance of the baby. Chulin says very fiercely they - as a family and tribe - will only be at peace when DJY is dead. But whenever she hears of any plans to attack DJY, she does the lip curling thing Kaigu does (I admit that each time she does that, she looks more and more like Mrs Kaigu!). Chulin, Chulin ... you're a big disappointment. To think, I wasted tears crying over your forced marriage.

Li Kaigu is so happy about the baby-does he know it isn't his? I missed a little here and there, so I didn't see him learning about the baby.

From the start, Kiagu knows the baby is DJY but he wants to raise the baby as his son and future leader of the Khitians. That melts Chulin's always already so-fickle heart.

He's just so doting, like he's repressed the truth. I fear that he could just flip over and decide he hates them both. It isn't like the baby is just an anonymous stranger's child, he's the son of his enemy. An anonymous baby, he could just love, but DJY's, I don't know...

Our feather duster friend had me in stiches although it was quite tragic. DJY was captured - well, actually he surrended when the evil Li Wen (i may have got his name wrong) held a sword to King Bojang's throat and threathened to kill him if DJY didn't surrender. So DJY and Sudol are tortured, disgraced, hung in the public square for 6 days with no food and drink. Li Wen plans for DJY to fight one of the Tang;s warrios, a fight to the death.
Our feather duster friend and his cronies are discussing the situation. Hong Pei is thinking of sneaking over to feed DJY so he will have strengh to fight and win. Xue Rengui says 'what kind of place is this that here we all rooting for DJY". He said it with a shake of his head, a big sigh and waving the feather duster about. I just burst out laughing!

ginnycat5, I know what you mean. He looks fully functional and sane except when he's with Chulin. With her, he looks quite demented like a psycho. I hope he dies soon and DJY rides off into the sunset ... with Sukyeong. hahaha, got you there Chulin!

yea, Xue Rengui is quite a lovable 'villian'.... he actually is not really evil except for the fact that he is with the Tangs empire and a little mite of glory seeking nature....in fact he can be quite a 'softie'

Not true, Seol Ingyi (Xue Rengui) was not powerful general we know of today. He's more cunning & foxy like character in real life.
He is not actually general, rich merchant who became adored by Empress Mu (Empress Wu) during Tang-Koguri War. Coz, he's used dictate his own private army during his merchant days, he was quit good at controling army.
According to chinese source, he supplied weapons to Tang during the war and made fortune. he even led his own private army to help Tang, and when Tang main army left Koguri, he and his merchaneries (mostly Khitan and other non chinese tribes) was in charge to take control of Tang's court in Koguri's cap city (Pyongyang). So he's more a cunning & calculated character, but later return to Tang when Empress Mu needed his assistant and he died in Tang.
Actually Seol Ingyi (Xue Rengui) never met DJY, nor King of Silla met DJY, this TV drama is fictional. DJY never led his Ninja style army to assasinate Tang's officials. That was more his father and rest of Koguri's last survivals.
DJY in real life led Koguri and other refuges to fled Tang's slavery and escape to Koguri's land. Then he became King himself.
Lee haego (Lee kaigu) is Tang's general, not Koguri's descent of Khitan general. Lee haego was in charged to destroy or stop DJY's escapes which was causing havoc in northern Tang. Then Lee Haego lost entire army fighting DJY and later killed by Tang court for failing to stop DJY. DJY successfully led the entire escapes to settled in Koguri which was virtually empty due to descruction of war.
I like to compare DJY as Spartacus, only difference is DJY actually succeed, where Spartacus failed.
DJY was indeed one of best leader we didn't knew. Not only he fought way for freedom of refugees, he also successfully beaten Tang's army, yet himself was victim of Tang's invasion.
