I'm actually surprised that no one's started a thread about our lead actress in this series yet. The series seems to be losing its humor and scenes between Gramps, Hye-suk, and Pungu seem to all indicate who she's going to end up with.... But the show seems to now be focusing on more important things, like where the relationships of the main characters are headed. Call me unsympathetic, mean, whatever you can think of, but I seriously think that Gukhwa and Yunhu make a horrible pair. I don't understand the attraction, maybe that's for only Yunhu to understand. While I don't think that Shinyoung is any better for him, I believe that is how much he looks wrong being with GH. The age difference itself is creeping me out. He's 29 for Pete's sake and she's only NINETEEN! Not 3, 4, 5, or even 6 years apart, but a whole 10 years. She had a part in allowing him to have those feelings too. Did she honestly think that the only reason YH stalked her all the time was because he, according to SY, felt sorry for her? Or did she think it was because her ramen noodles were just so great, he couldn't go have dinner anywhere else? I understand it was probably hard for her to even think that a rich man would fall in love with her (poor girl), but what else could explain the sudden change of heart? I dunno, maybe I'm being too harsh about this and picking at their relationship more than needed. GH and UY, now there's a fantastic pair! Why'd the writer have to go and break them up??

Ten years for GW and IY - 20 years for Gramps and Emoji -- but who's counting? LOL ... I think GW UG would be a great pair - you're so right to ask why did the writer change it that way? I am still unclear as to why they had to break up - SHE NEVER WAS ACTUALLY MARRIED to the uncle or lived with him .. I've asked before and still do not know if it is against Korean custom for a member of the immediate family to marry someone in a situation like this one. Still haven't got an answer LOL ..

Gramps is suitable for Eomji though. It's almost as if he can be what she wants him to be, and that's something Pungu can't do for her. But with Gukhwa and Yunhu, their pairing doesn't make sense. Maybe things will make more sense when she finally does accept him.

I know some people are a bit freaked out about the age difference thing, but isn't Ugyeong the same age as Yunhu?

Is he? I always thought he was younger than Yunhu although he looks like he could be older. It's just a personality factor then maybe.

Sungu, the man she (Gukhwa) came to marry was 36 and no one in the family had a problem with that age difference. So 29 would presumably be okay.
I really was annoyed that so much resistance to Ugyeoung was put forth by everyone. I agree they were a much better couple… even the cleaning crew at work could see that. He's the most admirable guy on the whole show, and now he's stuck with the ditz queen.
I also think Yunhu and his fiance are perfect for each other. Similar reserved personalities and physical traits. But wait, we wouldn't want a story to make sense, would we??

Don't worry - that cannot happen - it's against the rules for Korean dramas --- We would not want the writer to be thrown out of the writing circle for disobeying the rules just to make sense, would we? LOL ;D

While they appear to be a good couple, for all the reasons that are completely obvious, like personality, ShinYeong and YunHu just look tooooo bland together. He really does need someone to bring some life into him! Gukhwa's crazy antics seem to keep him entertained, seeing as to how she's the only one who can make him smile.

. . . seeing as to how she's the only one who can make him smile. Plus, she has the opposite effect on his mother, for the requisite family oopsition until they relent in the third-to-last episode.

LOL! Why can't people in these dramas ever get together without having to battle it out with family members first?

One thing about the Guk-hwa character that sort of bugs me is that she is always refering to herself in the third person, like "Yes! Yang Guk-hwa can do this!"

I know! They don't usually translate it, but she sure does do that. Maybe Yanbian province is filled with people talking about themselves in the third person. It would be funny if some of the other characters (like Yunho's mom) would act confused and say, "Who is this Yang Gukhwa person she's always talking about?"

It kind of looks like GH's developing feelings for Yunhu isn't it? She seemed all tense today seeing Yunhu drive off knowing fully well where he's headed off to. She seems to be denying her feelings all the time. Like she doesn't want to feel sad when she does, she doesn't want to seem angry when she is, and she keeps telling herself she can't be with people when she can (!). She seriously needs a reality check.
