I'm growing accustomed to her face, too. She's so cute, like a little clown.
I'm trying to figure out what it is he's trying to correct. It sounds to me like she's eliding over syllables sometimes and possibly using the wrong level of politeness. Do we have anyone here who can tell us what he's really objecting to in Gukhwa's speech? Of course, I can't hear an "accent," but I know there are some people here who can.

I hear her trying to make the distinction between "-mika" and "-seo" in the ending. Like in yesterday's episode, she kept on trying to say "seo" instead of "-mika" and "-mida". This is not a very reliable source, but Wikipedia had this to say about dialects hailing from Seoul:
"One of the most notable differences between dialects is the use of stress: speakers of Seoul dialect use stress very little, and standard South Korean has a very flat intonation..."
Which is true, now that I think of it. I noticed the actors from "Golden Apple" had this really stressed pronunciation of words.
That doesn't really answer your question Lucy. Sorry.....

What I noticed is her adding a couple of syllables after she noticed him scowling at her, like -amnida? Maybe she was adding the politeness level? Or even putting back word endings, like we'd do with walkin' vs. walking? I'd have to hear it a lot more.
Now who's supposed to pay for these clothes? Is he adding it to her debt, the sob? (Ya load 16 tons and whattaya get, another day older and deeper in debt.....I owe my soul to the company store.) He has become insufferable, altho once in a while he seems to appreciate something about her.

I hear her trying to make the distinction between "-mika" and "-seo" in the ending. Like in yesterday's episode, she kept on trying to say "seo" instead of "-mika" and "-mida". I heard this too! That's what I meant by politeness level. The "ay-yo" and "yay-yo" are a polite form, but just a tinch below "-mnida" in formality. In my first Korean class I learned all the verbs as "-mnida", but now in my second class they use the endings "yay-yo" and "ay-o." The teacher explained that, as I said, they are both polite, but the latter is slightly more familiar. "-mnikka" is the interrogative form; I'm not sure there are polite and familiar forms of it. Actually, both descriptions sound like the same thing to me--flat intonation and lack of stress. But it's interesting. Whenever I think of "stress" now, I think of the grandpa in "Who's My Love" lecturing his wife on her mispronunciation of the word: "It's st-ress, not su-tress!" Yes, I agree with you. Their speech was very animated!

Ginny, about those clothes, this is yet another way in which this show is like "Bizarre Bunch." This is like the BB parallel universe! Only our current spoiled prince is taking longer to unbend than Sukhyun did.

I kind of like this show a bit better than I did BB. Mainly because all of the characters are really lively. BB had this depressing side to it and this drama is very light.

I'm not going to compare this to BB at this stage, but I agree, I enjoy the lightness, at least so far. I wonder if, when thing start getting complicated, if it will retain this lightness. I hope so.

I know, Soju! I was crying all through The Bizarre Bunch. Contrary to what the title might have us believe, that show was not that bizarre and it was really SAD. The whole Jongnam and Sukhyun relationship tired me out!

What I like about this drama is that the characters who are good are not perfectly good and the mean characters are not perfectly mean. You see hints of faults in the more honorable characters and surprising notes of kindness now and then with the more selfish characters. I think that makes a series richer and they (the producers) have 150 episodes to work with, so this gives them plenty of opportunity for broader development. I get impatient with a lot of the redundancy I see in the dramas, i.e. In tonight's episode, the heroine breaks the front door and apologizes, in tomorrow's episode, she breaks the cell phone and apologizes, etc. It doesn't move along the story OR give us additional meaningful insight into the character. But I think they've been getting better about this in k-dramas. That's just my flea bitten opinion.

I didn't know BAE was so sensitive .. I like it! Surprising, isn't it? What I like about this drama is that the characters who are good are not perfectly good and the mean characters are not perfectly mean. You see hints of faults in the more honorable characters and surprising notes of kindness now and then with the more selfish characters. I know exactly what you mean, Teresa. In certain shows it's just a lot easier to point out the antagonist and say "Yeah, she's so horrible! What a witch!" But in this show, you don't really have a totally negative character. I guess you could see Mrs. Park as a pretentious, know-it-all, but in some vague sense, her acts are justifiable. She was brought up in an environment that approved of class distinction and expects her children to follow suit. You can say that Yunhu is this cold-hearted, spoiled brat, when in fact, his dispostion might slightly weigh in less than his situtation. To me, he just looks like someone who has some serious trust issues. He's always on the defensive (that's very annoying) and from this mentioning of his ex, I think it's safe to assume why he's the way he is. I really like every single character.... SAVE for Eomji. She's so darn annoying! Exploiting Grandpa's feelings like that!!!!
