Here’s a quick summary of the show’s characters, and their family relationships. I’ve attempted to Romanize the character’s names as closely as I can to match those used by the KBS America subtitler, but it’s subject to mistakes on my part. I’ve also given up on hyphenating the character’s names (that is, I’m using “Gukhwa” instead of “Guk-hwa”). I find it MUCH easier to comprehend the names when the hyphen is used, but apparently KBS America doesn’t agree with me on this.
PLEASE - if anyone discovers that I got something wrong here, let me know! I’ll be glad to make the changes.
OUR CAST OF CHARACTERS:
Yang Gukhwa - Our Heroine! She’s sweet and bubbly, but also a little naïve and gullible. She was orphaned at early age, and raised by her aunt and uncle in Yanbian (an ethnically Korean region of China). She went to Korea to marry into Hong family, but her fiancée was killed in traffic accident just days before the scheduled wedding.

THE HONG FAMILY:
Hong Youngkam - Grandpa, patriarch of the Hong family. Owns a tailor shop. He has three sons:
Hong Sungu (no photo) - Tailor, deceased fiancée of Gukhwa. Said to have been a warm and gentle man.
Hong Punggu - Singer, saxophone player. Somewhat irresponsible, he refuses to join in doing the family’s tailor work.
Hong Mungu - Works as a station supervisor for the railroad. He has a wife, a son, and a daughter:
Kim Okgeum - Wife of Mungu, and long-suffering daughter in law of Grandpa. Though a bit beaten down by all the family’s chaos, she seems to be a strong and commonsense woman.
Hong Ugyeong - Son of Mungu and Okgeum. He’s a lifelong friend of Park Yunhu, and is his most trusted employee at work. He’s said to be much like his late uncle Sungu: gentle and compassionate.
Hong Usuk - young, chubby granddaughter. A little loudmouthed and bratty. She’s always insisting that she’ll get cosmetic surgery as soon as she can, so she can correct all her imperfections.

THE PARK FAMILY:
Park Dongguk - (on left) Father, and Chairman of family company. Not particularly mean, but somewhat cold and aloof towards others.
Yoon Myeunghye - (on right) Mother, Food sales guru. Dongguk and Myeunghye seem to be constantly sniping with each other. It's not a horrible marriage, but not a particularly happy one, either. They have two daughters and one son between them:
Park Yunji - (on left) Eldest Daughter, she’s estranged from family because she married an unsuccessful man for love, rather than money (as the family insisted).
Go Gwangman - (on right) Yunji’s hapless car salesman husband. He’s loathed by Yunji’s mother, apparently for his ineptitude and poverty.
Go Nari (no photo) - Yunji and Gwangman’s cute young daughter.
Park Yunhu - The middle son, and CEO of the family company. Outwardly, he’s cold and mean towards his work subordinates. He’s not, however, unpleasant to the small handful of people he knows well and trusts.
Park Yunjeong - The youngest daughter. A spoiled rich girl, dumb and superficial. However, she does know one thing: she insists on having love in her marriage.

OTHER CHARACTERS:
Kang Sinhyeong - Her parents were close to the Park family, but they were killed while on vacation when Sinhyeong was in high school. The Park family then took her in and supported her through college, for which she’s very grateful. She’s also a close, childhood friend to Yunhu. Since Yunhu’s parents already adore her, it seems like they’d be a perfect marriage match, were it not for . . .
Ha Sujeong (no photo) - Yunhu’s EX-girlfriend. Though she’s mentioned, she isn’t shown in the early episodes. She apparently dumped Yunhu, and left him broken-hearted.
Choi Hyesuk - Female Restaurant Owner. She’s a working class woman, but she seems a bit aloof and snooty, suggesting that she once had money and status, but lost it.
Mr. Koh (no photo) - Works in Grandpa’s tailor shop. Hardworking and reliable. Friend and confidant of Grandpa.
