Oh, dear, I'm sorry I can't help you. I often don't notice the episode numbers. What I can tell you is that just about the last thing we saw was the assassination of ... was it Kim Gu? The guy was murdered (shot) in his bed by a small group. Ke-hee and Oon-hyuk are engaged and his sisters have just gotten jobs at the hotel.
Unless someone has a better memory than I, we won't be able to come up with an episode number for you until after this weekend's episodes. Hang in there! We'd love to hear your thoughts.

I am ahead of all of you. I think i am on episode 65-66. THese shows were lost in translations though. MEaning two episodes were shown without subtitles. Also the show has mysteriously vanished of our air waves. Another dramam has taken its place. I still have yet to see the ending...

Ok so we are a little ahead of you guys. All I can say is you guys will have plenty to enjoy this weekend and to lose subtitles at any point in this drama would be a complete and utter disaster.

So did you guys in Chicago enjoy last weeks episodes? ;D And is it just me or does it seem that every week there's a new political party in Korea? That just goes to show why it was so difficult to keep the country from breakng into two. Everybody had their own agenda.

Last night's episodes were interesting, everyone seems to be losing their affections for each other.

I have to admit that I checked out on this one, family.
Seoul 1945 started out very strong but I struggle with the extreme and relentless melodramatic aspects of the storyline.
The quality of this series is undeniable. My issue is simply one of taste.
In my opinion the strongest aspect of Seoul 1945 is the way in which it centers the observation of each of the various intriguing ideologies and perspectives prevalent in Korea during that period.

I think part of it is that it's trying to find a place in between the more theatrical historical dramas (some of them really do seem like they belong on the stage rather than the screen) and the heart-strings tugging contemporary dramas.
It does remind me a lot of older American mini series in tone and scope. Instant history and the like, trying to fit a lot into a small space and still be entertaining.
I really do enjoy watching though.

I have been watching this drama regularly. I like that I am learning about Korean history. I really feel like strangling some of the characters those especially the main guy Oon Hyuk. I just don't understand why everyone loves him so much and thinks he's so smart.

I love Oon-hyuk, but from the point of view of the North Koreans, the way he is acting--constantly favoring people he knows who are considered criminals by the north--should be unforgiveable. He is really out of place among the true believers, but they let him be a general and so forth. Chul-hyung is right about him! Still, I think what has happened is that the forces of history-making have caused Oon-hyuk to be a man out of place and time. Before and just after the war (WWII) his brand of communist-inflected idealism was right for the times. Afterward, with everything so black-and-white and polarized, there is no room for someone who has sympathies on both sides. I wonder where he will end up. Hopefully on the trigger end of a gun pointed at Kimura Akiraju! Note: I am not bloodthirsty in real life; I just hate that disgusting, craven, obsessive character.

I agree with you Lucy that Kimura Akiraju should get his. I got creeped out chills when he raped Oon-Hyuk's sister. That was so sad. He is gross no wonder Lady Suk-Young rejected him again.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but I see (in the ads at the top of this page) that World Peace is on sale at eBay (great deals!). If only it were that easy.

Bo I remember how, during the broadcast of "Immortal Yi Soon-shin," that same automated e-bay advertisment was operating, too . . . only then, it was the Korean Navy that was being offered up for sale on e-bay. ;D
