I have e-mailed KBS and there is no Box Set available for this series. They are in the process of creating something on their website where you can purchase individual episodes. I don't understand why they are not packaging this series either. I would also love to have the whole series but I can't imagine what it would cost to purchase the whole thing by episodes. There are so many new viewers to the Korean stations that also are not of Asian descent, including me, they should market their series with English subtitles more. Try e-mailing them too because if they get enough requests they might reconsider. But as of now they have no intention of packaging this series as Box Sets.

well, they're stupid! the fact that ppl are willing to spend money on that...and even that didn't get their attention. i'm so sad that the series is almost over and i still don't know where i can get the box set. i checked some websites and i saw one selling the whole set of the series, but w/ chinese subtitles. i guess it doesn't occur to them that maybe other ppl who don't understand neither chinese or korean loves watching korean soap operas. thank u though for asking KBS. you're right..maybe i should email them too. we should start a movement. it's that or i have to start learning korean! ;D

I thought I throw this into the conversation, I don't know if this help but my idle observation is to find Chinese knock offs of Korean drama series on eBay. Yes, they're knockoffs but the antenna broadcasts aren't the best quality depending on the weather, not to mention an occasional episode missing.
The eBay sellers are listed as being located in southern California and series usually auction off for about 7-20 dollars plus shipping.
I've come across a few series up for auction while still airing on KBS Chicago. Hwang Jini was available last month. (Some dvd sets include one or two extra episodes or extra scenes not aired here.)
I have no real complaints about the quality of the videos except the subtitle syntax is true to origin more the KBS version that we've seen in Chicago. Occasionally certain words translate differently. Since I' ve already seen the series it doesn't bother me too much and makes for a good laugh.
The trick is finding the alternate working titles. The Infamous Chill Sisters is known as The Famous Princesses in the Asian markets. ..... ie Summer Scent/ Summer Aroma or Winter Sonata/ Winter Love Song.
The trick to locating these dvds is to use character's names in the search instead of the series title. I used the key words Na ,Family, Korean and found the Famous Princesses.......
CAUTION: be sure to check for Eng. subtitles before bidding. In my findings, most Korean dramas come with English and Chinese subtitles. But I have read on this board or maybe the California board of people winning Manchurian only subtitled series and were disappointed.

Such good points, idle observer. I've been fortunate to purchase 2 favorite DVD Boxed sets on Ebay. Golden Apple and Seoul 1945. True, the english syntax as translated through Chinese different. But as you said, having seen these dramas the subtitles can be rather amusing . The character names are all in Chinese. The sets are not as well packaged as YesAsia ... but for the cost savings you'll be fine with it. Just keep checking eBay. Timing is everything.

I've also seen it called "The Seven Princesses," but I only saw that title before the show aired here. I think it originated with a mistake in translation, as the syllable "chil" (as in "Chill Sisters") means "seven" in Korean. (Actually, in the Sino-Korean numbering system. Same diff, basically.) So it probably got corrected as soon as people realized what "chill" meant in the context of the series. But anyway, that might be another line of inquiry.

I bought 4 episodes of Summer Scent from KBS America and the DVD was in great condition. It looked identical to the original airing of SS here on KBC.
Dramas sets are really high priced though .....I try to watch it on KBC and leave it at that. I can't pay $100 + for a drama ......it's crazy. They should really lower their prices for the fans.

yah, checked the KBS america site. as much as i loved famous chil...i can't imagine paying hundreds of dollars for it. i'm still crossing my fingers that they lessen it. not fair how they are charging so much just for freaking english subtitles. what a ripoff! don't they get that not only korean ppl watch these shows? if they lessen the price..more ppl will buy it. they're just losing money. i dunno who's willing to pay that much. i'm hoping that i can find it somewhere for cheaper.

i agree with you aznsuplada. the price is ridiculous for adding subtitles to the bottom of the screen.
