She comes off as a unlikable character, but after hearing all the stuff her father said about her within earshot, I'm starting to get a bit of sympathy for her. It seems there's nothing she could do that would please him.
I suppose they'll reconcile later on, but I bet this really festers until then.

Sometimes I do feel sorry for MiChil for having such a father...nothing she does seem to please him...all b/c SeolChil outperforms her in almost everything......except maybe when it comes to boys.BUT I can't see this as an excuse for buying things you can't afford and getting into debt with loansharks and making your mother/sister pick up the pieces. She knows that she can get any guy she wants just by turning on her charm. So she is going to steal SeolChil's 'boyfriend'.I guess her point is----you took away my father's love for me...now I will take away your love from you. Frankly.she can do whatever she wants with IlHan.If IlHan is so blind as to fall in love with a girl like MiChil.....go ahead...they really deserve each other.

Soju, I couldn't agree more. Normally I wouldn't like a character like hers but I can't help but sympathize with her. Most psychologists would say that her behavior is a direct result of the way she was raised. I don't condone her actions but with the way she's treated by not only her father but her sister as well, you can see how she would resent them and act up. You see it a lot with adults who were abandoned as kids.

She needs to get on Oprah's debt diet. Oprah would tell her that she's trying to fill a spiritual void with material things and that that hole will never be filled until she finds a way to reconcile with her father.
But yeah, I can't imagine that she's happy living with a father that constantly tells her that she's no good.

I too, reached a turning point with Michil last week. Always getting berated leaves a lifetime scar. She has such a cute face and beautiful in just about anything she's wearing. I hope she shapes up about the money thing. Perhaps we can send Oprah her profile. I don't think Dr. Phil would be an option.

Sorry… spoiled brat is more like it for me. Her mom erases her debt and all she can do is continue to party and spend whatever she makes on clothes and shoes for herself? Plus stealing the food her mother made for Ilhan the dufus who gave her a credit card is just too much. She's really yanking his chain, and what's with the "okay… bye bye" put down? Is that a jab at Americans to insult someone in English instead of Korean? As the lady neighbor would say: "I don't care for Milchil…"
Regardless of her parents, her actions continue to reinforce their disappointment. She's hardly a "victim". That's a concept that defense lawyers in this country came up with in order to let as many people as they can get off avoid responsibility for their actions.
Not that anyone else in her family isn't dysfunctional either. Seolchil is the only one who doesn't seem totally self centered. And because she's the one with a conscience and common sense, she'll probably suffer the most in the end, but I hope not.
Okay, venting over. I still like this show… I just think MC is a brat.

yep... as of last nite I'm back in your camp, ravin. Spoiled brat is putting it mildly ... she's almost slut-like. Very cute, very stupid, very self-centered. ... and taking on Ilhan... stupid, hormone driven KidneyTransplantGuy (I don't like his character at all and it has a great deal to do with his role on Bizarre Bunch). ... and poor Seolchil ... she truly outranks them all... although I do like married sister and sympathize with her for being forced into marriage with such a SuperDufus! Seolchil's date was just awful but she handled it so well. Really like this show and am pleased that a grandmother showed up. That actress is so versitle ... comparing the role that she plays in 'solo'. I'll bet she had so much fun playing this role in 'sisters'. But be assured, I am in the Michill-is-Annoying mode

I just think MC is a brat. So you don't think her parents have anything to do with that? I agree that she acts like a brat and should grow up. Her parents are the main reason why she's that way though. One puts her down every chance he gets and the other lets things slide. I don't like or agree with the way she acts but I sympathize with her (well, not only her but the whole family) because of her dad. I wouldn't wish that kind of dad on anyone. We've already seen some of his character/personality and we'll see even more of it in upcoming episodes.

Yes, her parents are whacked, but I'm not sure she would act that way if she wasn't profiting from bad behavior. Her sisters have the same parents, and they aren't as bad as Michil. (The oldest seems the exact opposite) It seems to be another case of the pretty girl learning she can get whatever she wants, and I don't think she learned that from her parents. It sure doesn't work on them.
As far as Ilhan goes, he may get a liver transplant in BB, but in this one he needs a brain transplant!

When Mi-chil asked him "Are you an idiot?", I had to think "He sure is!"
So far, his character is pretty much the shallowest I've ever seen in a Durama. They really need to flesh out this guy.

They really need to flesh out this guy. ;D Besides a brain transplant, he will need a spine don't you agree? so if they do "flesh" him out .. they'll be something to keep him standing ... LOL ... Michill is real close to a street walker and he "lusts" after her. She acts and dresses like a hoochie mama and she is a spoiled BRAT. Why haven't the rest of the daughters in this family become like her if her parents are the reason she is like she is? I think it's partly them and a whole lot more of Michill doing, taking and being whatever she wants ... incluidng her sister's "love". Shame on her. I don't like her now and probably won't like her by the end of this show. I am sort of prejudiced --- Lee Taeran is my favorite Korean actress ... oh well ..

Why haven't the rest of the daughters in this family become like her if her parents are the reason she is like she is? If you think about it, are the daughters really living the lives that they want for themselves or are they living the lives that their parents want for them. They don't have a problem with their other daughters because they simply do as their told.

WOW - imagine that - daughters doing as they are told to do by their parents ... what will ever become of them? Michill only does what Michill WANTS to do ... she is a brat - she spoils herself - she doesn't need anyone else to do it for her or to love her either since she is soooo in love with herself and her own likes and dislikes. She's sneaky, a liar and has little respect for anyone else; I feel badly for the other girls: one in an arranged marriage, like so many other Korean women; one in the Army but she doesn't seem to hate it, does she? and the youngest one studying very hard -- but just why is she so sick??? vomiting, nauseaous, hmnn - you know what that usually means in a K-drama right??? Papa Chill is in for some big surprises one of these days ... ;D

Yea Mi-Chil may be pretty..She's disrespectful to her sister Seol-Chil, but Seol-Chil is kind to her. But I kind of feel bad for Mi-Chil too. Her dad is always putting her down. That would make me really sad. But I guess its because of her behavior. She has a closet full of clothes, and she always to expensive things.
