Yeah, but Jungjae was a total control freak who was used to getting his own way. I think his parents were the type to tell him what they expected of him, and he made his business to succeed without any regard for anyone else. Just the way he ordered his sister around was another obvious example of his expectations of complete obedience.
It took 20 episodes, but at last he and Jungah got the message… at least she got married, he ended up with no one.

I think that the best part of the ending is that it finally occurred. Bummer drama.
I only saw 1/3 to 1/2 of the episodes in this drama, so I might be very off with my impression -- which was that, while Minwoo was enveloped in sentiment and romantic feelings about Hyewon, Jungjae was dealing with reality: that Hyewon was going to need careful monitoring and care for the rest of her life, whether short or long, and that he had the wherewithal to quite literally "take care of her." Minwoo seemed to me to be (although just plain gorgeous) somewhat insubstantial and weak, and not up to the task at-hand. Minwoo couldn't tell her why he allegedly loved her when she asked him; five minutes after she left it occurred to him that he was in love with the sadness in her (blech); and a short time later when the subject again came up, he still couldn't tell her why he allegedly loved her, rather than Eunhye. A real dip (although, as I said earlier, gorgeous).
Add me to those who had more than enough of the theme song. It has a very morbid feel to it, which IMO only served to highlight the overall morbidness of the entire subject of the show.
I'll also toss in that I, like others, found most of the characters very limp and sans personality or any oomph. I'm pleased to read that the actress who played Hyewon has improved considerably, given that it sounds as if we might be seeing a lot more of her. In almost all of her scenes that I saw, I wanted somebody to hold a mirror up under her nose to see whether she was still breathing. Very poor job.
I'm becoming a big grouch WRT these dramas lately, and I don't know whether it's that my personality is going downhill, or whether the dramas that they're showing here in Chicago are going downhill (perhaps both).
One final thing: I had thought the basic premise of this drama was contrived and without any merit, but then I did a search on something like "organ+transplant+personality" and learned that this phenomenon, or something that at least resembles it, actually has been known to occur. Organ recipients do sometimes report having developed tastes for things that their donor liked but which they, pre-transplant, had no interest in. The scientific aspect of it lies in the theory that the mind and the body are not separate, but rather than there is such a thing as "cellular memory."

I think that this will sound sarcastic, but I don't mean it to be. However, if I begin to watch any show and don't like it, I just stop watching it, rather that "torturing" myself. I did enjoy this show although I missed some episodes in the middle. The ending was very poetic.

Lila, you're so funny. I agree with so much of what you said. Teacher, your point is well taken, but you will notice that Lila only saw about 1/3 to 1/2 the episodes, and the same goes for me. I stopped watching at about Episode 12 and just read the board occasionally after that.
Lila, about being a grouch about the dramas, me, too. But I think it also has to do with the bad TV reception I get with Channel 41. I have to work really hard to find an antenna position that works. So if what I get after that is moony-eyed drivel (sorry!), it makes me irritated.
In the end, I will say something nice. I think visually this show was lovely and the director succeeded in getting the mood of summer. All that lush greenery, the filmy clothes, and the dreamy score--I could feel the humidity and warm air the whole time. Especially in those nighttime scenes on the football field at the resort. Watching the first 2 episodes in the wintertime would be a nice treat. It's only after that that the whole tiresome setup began to pall on me.

Hi, Lila--- I'm glad you brought up the point about the organ transplant issue. I have met two people who received transplants (one a kidney & the other liver) and each of them told me they experienced profound changes emotionally afterward. The man who received a kidney was in his 40's and his donor was a young man in his early 20's. He said he now had a more outgoing, positive, energetic disposition which he believed was not merely due to his physical improvement. He said his basic personality now "felt" different to him. He also had discovered that he now had a deep interest in and attachment to music where there had been none before. He told me he actually physically could "feel" the essence of the donor coursing through this body. Interesting to think about.
