Can somebody explain the meaning behind the beach scene where Eunsuk's mother is killed? Who killed her? Also, I can't say exactly the situation, but I think it was Bokqyu's girlfriend and the guy that was impersonating Minku (with the curly hair) and she is questioning his loyalty and makes a reference to Independence fighters. Does this have something to do with people trying to get over ther border from the North?

I thought she died by accident while diving for abalone. There was blood, though, so I'm probably wrong. It was very unclear. Some things about this show really bug me, especially the ambiguities (I finally put 2 and 2 together and realized that if her mom was dead, the current mom in her family--the one who spoiled her relationship with Minku-- isn't her real mom!), but in general I like it.

Perhaps this got cut from the Chicago broadcast, but her mother was shot to death by South Korean army troops, who (apparently) mistook her for a North Korean infiltrator when she came out of the sea in her scuba gear.
This show’s not really cutting it with me. It’s not passing mikey’s “clock test” (do I keep glancing at the clock during the broadcast, to see how much longer the episode has to go)?
I’m finding it (barely) good enough to keep watching, but unless you’re a big “Bi” fan, it’s awfully hard for me to recommend it.

Thanks Mikey, I was thinking that was what the gunfire was all about. So, the reference to the Idependence fighters also has to do with getting people down to the South? I'm having a few problems with continuity but for the most part it's still better than the networks offerings. I have a similar gauge for video quality, but mine involves looking at my watch and if I see that the show is only half over, yet I have been put on sensory overload and think that's the end of the episode, it's a good show. By the way, not that I subscribe to this philosophy, but I found it interesting that your post in reply to my question was you 666th.

I found myself looking at my watch last night, but not because I was bored--I wanted to see how much more of the story was going to be exposed, and so now I'm anxiously awaiting next week's episodes. I'm really getting to like this story--I find Bokgu quite a fascinating character.
