We're further along in Philly, so I promise not to reveal anything. I really like BB, but some of these medical liberties are making me a little crazy -- and I'm no expert by any stretch! For instance, yes, a woman who has had a miscarriage would be a very cautious candidate. Blood work is automatically done to determine if the HCG hormone is still present in her system regardless of whether she is considering organ donation or not -- there might have been serious health issues WHY she miscarried that would make her an ineligilbe candidate. It has been my experience with organ donation that two different teams are established from the very beginning: one for the donor, one for the receiver. It is my understanding that the two do not talk with one another for a very good reason: one is focusing on getting the very best organ for the patient, the other is championing the very best care for the donor. This is a good thing, because BOTH should have the best of care. Having only one doctor overseeing both introduces too much opportunity for conflict in the doctor. Maybe it's different for different types of transplants, but this is my experience with kidney and pancreas donation. I think with liver donation, you only need a sliver (sorry about that... the compulsion to ryhme was irresistable in me), so maybe two teams do not need to be established. I'm not certain. Nevertheless, these medical scenes feel clunky and unsophisticated to me.
I just had to get that out of my system!

Woops, correction. I meant to only say kidney donation. Duh, one cannot donate his or her pancreas unless they are deceased!

I just wonder if the hospitals really let patients just run out the front door like that. Suk-hyun even walked all the way home wearing a hospital gown.

The whole Korean hospital scene is portrayed in such a wierd way. On Goodbye Solo, that woman not only left the hospital but she put her street clothes on and did it. I don't even think they're wearing hospital ID bracelets. when Jongnam went to be tested, I thought that a pregnancy test is standard procedure on a woman ... not just taking a patient;s word for it "I had a miscarriage' ok fine, you're a donor match.. let's do it I still ask the question: What happened to the little pathetic puppy?

Lucy before I read what you posted about "yellow" skin.... I was looking at myself in the mirror and I thought I loved this golden tan skin tone, instead of my usual yellowish tone. I was not at all offended.... I found it funny that I was thinking the same thing before I read your post.

I'm glad to hear that, Christi. I myself have a yellowish undertone to my skin, but people don't see it because I also have a lot of rosy color. Are you of Asian descent? I'm not, which is why I thought people might take what I was saying the wrong way.

Having said all that, I still think Sukhyun is a cool color, even with the pallid "I need a transplant but am too stubborn to get one" lips.

Yes, Lucy, the chalky lip look doesn't detract from his looks!
Nary a nurse to be found though. Jongnam seems to be doing a swell job of caring for him. Do we want to know what that plastic container she periodically carries around is used for?

LOL - I know what it SHOULD BE but in a Korean drama Hospital scene, maybe it's used to carry soup from home to the patient LOL ... ;D

Soapygrams -- yes and the soup would most certainly have to be that Sukhyun favorite: Loach! Jaemin prefers the Ox Bone, (Teresa shudders at the sound of both). Soapy, you conjure another question in me regarding a Korean hospital stay -- what food WOULD they serve? I like to imagine the hilarity of every patient being served 8-10 tiny bowls of traditional fare. Can you see hospital orderlies clacketing about hallways weilding trays full of bowls? It would quickly turn into a Three Stooges gag.
What must a hospital stay in the U.S. be like for a Korean, used to the pickling and peppering up of all veggies, be like?
U.S. NURSE: "Mr. Kim, here is your salt free mash potatoes with a slab of salt free turkey."
MR. KIM: "Kamsamneeda, but I think I'll just die instead."

LOL, Teresa! Patients would be refusing transplants. "I don't care what you stay, I won't stay in a world without loach."

I saw a hospital scene on an unsubtitled drama once, where they did in fact bring the patients trays loaded with small steel bowls of side dishes -- don't know if any of them were loach, though A loach:

Gee, Soju, I thought a loach was a kind of eel. Which is why the soup Sukhyun likes always grossed me out. I could have sworn it was an eel when I looked it up, but now I can't confirm that.
