You probably noticed that ep 29 ended quite abruptly, with Jong-nam and Suk-hyun waiting for the bus. Well, after that: Everyone in the office wonders where Ki-woong is. He runs in, carrying a large box. He seems quite happy. After a brief discussion, he hurries out with the box. Jae-do is getting his own box of personal stuff from the civil service job, which he's been storing in a locker at the bus terminal, so his family wouldn't find out. He fondly looks at the framed picture of his family: Hae-in and Suk-hyun go to Ok-doo and Myoung-ja's cafe, and have supper. They talk, but Suk-hyun is distracted, thinking about Jong-nam. Jae-do returns to a dark home, and wonders where everyone is. He walks in the door, and the lights go on and streamers pop. His family is all there; they've put up balloons and a sign that says "We Love You, Dad!" They all say something affectionate, and Da-jong presents him with a gold ring. Whoever is doing this editing, I sure wish they'd stop

GEEZ LOUISE! So that's why Ki-woong asked Haein where he could get a ring (or something like that). I knew there had to be a reason, but I couldn't think of one except for Haein's misinterpretation.
KBCTVUSA, if you're reading this thread, can you do anything to stop this butchery? I mean, please! They set up the fact that Ki-woong and Da-jung are planning something special for their father but don't show it?
OTOH, Soju, the sequence of events shown to us doesn't quite jibe with your account. We saw a whole lot after Sukhyun and Jongnam were waiting for the bus--the bus ride, their lunch, etc., his attempt to give her the money back, though she won't take it. And I think it's only after that that Ki-woong runs into Hae-in and mentions something about a ring. Unless you meant they were waiting for the bus to go back home after the errands. ?? I was thinking maybe we'll see that party tonight, after all. Maybe you're getting ahead of the broadcast?
That is a sweet picture of the family. That big smiling face of Jae-do's is so cute. Who was it who said he looked like Stitch from Lilo and Stitch? I can't stop thinking of that every time I see him. I'm not sure if I quite see the resemblance, but he sure does look like some cartoon character. Maybe a Smurf?

They were waiting for the bus after lunch. I do hope they show us the party tonight; it was quite sweet.

Wait a minute, wait a minute... you mean they are truncating episodes in Chicago and playing the later half the next airing? Or are they tossing out whole parts of episodes altogether?! If so, that's quite a disservice to all of you. What Soju outlined in the latter half of that episode is quite important, in my opinion, to the direction of the characters in that family!!

I'm hoping they show the remainder, but I kind of doubt it. Every drama we see here is edited, apparently for time, which is flat out pointless if you ask me, since WOCH's schedule is "Etched in Butter", it's so slippery.

I'm also getting tired of all this editing. And it's the scenes with the most significance that seems to get the axe. Scenes with okdoo and myungja should seriously be gotten rid of to make room for scenes that have some meaning. I sure hope that they show that wonderful party scene tonight....

Wowzas. Did we miss something? The last scene we saw was with SH and JN by his car. Then today they opened with HI and KW and SH in SH's office. WTheck was up with the editing?

There was evidently some problem at KBS-America with ep 34. The folks in Philly saw it with no subtitles. We didn't see it at all. Fortunately, a certain Lucas posted a recap on the Philly board. Too bad, because this was a pretty funny episode, and it showed that Go Joo-won is not one of those Korean-Americans the Korean networks are recruiting -- I could barely understand his English

I was looking forward to that episode! The previews at the end of epi 33 showed Byung-doo (correct name?) getting beaten with a pillow by his wife. And there were other things that I wanted to see. I think Sukhyun is going to speak English again soon--or am I thinking again of the ep 33 previews? You're right, his English is not so good.

It's so nasaly and slurred. It's almost impossible to believe he was even in this country for so long.
