I'm starting to be more sympathetic to Byung-do, because his wife is looking so squirrelly-swallowing the ring, manipulating Nara with lies that can be found out in an instant if Nara ever talked to Hae-in, Sukyun or Byung-do.

She swallowed the ring? Okay, that makes more sense. The subtitles said that she "ate" the ring. I thought her to be incredibly stupid to have eaten the ring to protect it from Byung-do.

Yeah, we missed the episode that showed it, but I think in the previews it showed Byung-do yelling, Chew harder!! So apparently he came into the bedroom and interrupted her search for the ring, she put it in her mouth to hide it (!), and he pushed a piece of food on her, insisting she eat it NOW (so pushy). So she swallowed it instead of coughing it into her hand or coming clean about it. I can't decide if she's really afraid of him or not. His rages are fearsome, but she staged a protest in front of the tv and he laughed, so...?

Can anyone tell me why she is lying to Nara? Thanks.

Yesterday we saw Byung-do accept Suk-hyun as Hae-in's fiance at dinner. The next day Hae-in's mother was at Nara's, telling her about how pushy her husband is being, giving Hae-in so many photos of men, "I could open a marriage bureau". She claimed he wasn't happy with Suk-hyun, he took the couples ring away, yada yada. Then she said something to imply that if the parents got together, everything would work out. (Why ?) So Nara said, why don't you invite us? Oh, you know how he is, he's an antique. Pause, while she looks sly. So Nara said she would invite them over. Bingo, just what Hae-in's mother wanted. (Why don't I learn these names??)

Hae-in's mom's name is Yoo-jung, ginnycat. I didn't catch the part where she was fabricating stories about her husband. What I don't get is why she felt the need to--- wait, maybe she's thinking of jongnam and isn't really convinced about her being just a "cousin" or maybe she isn't even sure that they are. She's probably trying to speed matters along as best as she can.

It really doesn't make sense to me. I guess we'll find out later why she's doing it.

I think that Haein's mother is only speeding things up because SH and Haein from her point of view are a perfect match...and I think that she only wants what's best for her daughter..also that she wants Nara's company I think..

Who would want Nara's company? All she does is flaunt what all she has in other people's faces.

Datiez, did you mean the Well-Being Home Shopping company rather than the social company of being with Nara? That's how I read what you wrote, and it makes sense to me that a mother of a daughter would want her to marry a rich guy.

honestly BAE i have no idea it was a simple guess What did you mean, datiez? I think I might have gotten things mixed up. After taking a look at Lucy's interpretation, I think that would make much more sense. (No one wants nara's companionship.)

O.K., I'm going to throw a wrench in this thread and say I think Yoo-jung is seeking both a rich/well placed son-in-law AND acceptance of her as an equal by Nara. I think Yoo-jung seeks to be held in high regard by Nara because she sees Nara as a glamorous, has-it-all woman (one caveat: the filandering husband), and Yoo-jung wants to be held in high esteem by Nara, because that would make her just as glamorous. Because she is so torn down by her husband, Yoo-jung seeks approval elsewhere in her life. That's my flea-bitten take.

And you are absolutely right, teresa. Nara has it all, and even though it appears to be that Yoojung doesn't like the whole flaunting thing Nara does, she does want to be able to brag about something. And the perfect SIL would give her a good position amongst her "society."
