It sounds like rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated - there's a secret there, and the flighty friend (who threw out Jongnam (?) to make room for her boyfriend) knows about it. Could he have left the country? Been sent to jail?

That one-off comment also really threw me for a loop when I heard it on my satellite broadcast a few weeks ago.
So . . . will this be just another “My Sweetheart” style red herring, or will something come of it?

Are you talking about the part in the teaser at the end of ep 11 that was cut out of ep 12? Jong-nam's friend's name is He-young. I DL'ed the script from KBS and ran it through Google's version of Babelfish. The "truth" is about Jong-nam being on break from school, and her parents being in the US. He-young then asks "Did you love Min-woo?", and Jong-nam answers (according to the translation engine), "Love it got peeled off, Oh nya. It will like to take out, lye nine mam it ate tightly but hweyng pe leading d. kyay To mom solid color bad fellow Oh!." The scene ends with He-young saying something about Min-woo's mom's store and money, and Jong-nam apparently saying something like "You've got a lot of nerve!". PS If someone here can read Korean, how about a better translation of ...사랑까진 아냐. 내가 좋아할려구 딱 맘 먹었는데 휑 가버리드라. 걔 엄마한테 무지 나쁜 놈야.

That's really funny, Soju! But I wish I could understand, because there's a secret or two there to be revealed.
Wonder why you can type in Korean but other people's posts show up as gibberish? On my screen, anyway. (ABCwitha tail 1/4 1/4 etc.)

Oh that's too funny. So THAT'S where the people who subbed one of my dramas got their translation! LOLOL If I can drag my DH to this thread, I'll see what he can tell me about the Korean script. (ETA: I do know the first two characters are "sa-lang." (the "o" is a "ng" sound when placed at the bottom) ...and I give up on the rest! LOLI've missed quite a few shows here and there (being out of town and watching K-dramas on another channel), but the only big secret I know of is Jong-nam's family. (Mikey, was there anything else?) And you're right Ginnycat, when I tried to cut and paste Soju's Korean characters, it became gibberish in my post. ...»ç¶û±îÁø ¾Æ³Ä. ³»°¡ ÁÁ¾ÆÇÒ·Á±¸ µü ¸¾ ¸Ô¾ú´Âµ¥ ÈÕ °¡¹ö¸®µå¶ó. °Â ¾ö¸¶ÇÑÅ× ¹«Áö ³ª»Û ³ð¾ß. This is all news to me. What is this "one-off" comment you guys are talking about? Are you watching ahead again, or did I space out???

I think what mikey meant was one off comment (an aside, comment made in passing, etc.)

Sorry, Lucy, I didn't know you meant the actual comment. It's been a while, but I think they're talking about Jong-nam's history/background.
When Jongnam was being kicked out of her friend's house, she (the friend) said she (Jongnam) had a rich brother she could go to live with (which we now know was Nara's who died, but who by no means was rich, so we're all a little confused). Jongnam then made the comment, under her breath, that he was dead.
I could be totally off about this or have a screwed up memory (it DOES seem to be going! LOL), but that's what I was assuming.

I am assuming Ginnycat was talking about a bit in the preview at the end of ep11 where He-young (Jong-nam's friend) says "Won't Min-woo's mother be mad when she finds out the truth?". But then this scene was cut out of ep 12.
Anyway, since we have well over one hundred eps to go (at least), I'm sure we'll see plenty of mysteries and secrets to come.

Yes, that's the scene I was thinking of (with my "one off" comment. ) I always have to be careful, since I'm about 3 weeks ahead of Chicago now, but I do try to leap on comments from Chicago-area viewers when I see them! Amazing that something this (seemingly) significant got chopped from the Chicago broadcast. It left me a little stunned, especially since nothing about it was mentioned again.

What have we seen in Chicago about Nara having a brother? Is she related to Jong-nam?
