Agree with you, mikey. The story may not be very original, but nevertheless it is a drama well worth watching , just for the great acting by the cast. especially Choi Jin Sil, Son Hyun Jo and Lee Tae Ran.

No Problem, GC. LOL Benohver. I think that these two grandmas were cast perfectly because they both complement eachother so well when it comes to the hating.

Her own pain then is certainly enhancing her performance, but how very sad that is. We really sense the extreme emotions which are played out in her facial expressions, physical anger, shock at seeing her husband with the other woman, reaching out for support by phoning her sister in the middle of in the night only to be hung up on. It certainly amplifies her role because we're witnessing a peformance on two levels at once. I stumbled upon this (on Soompi) while searching for something else, but it does give us an idea of what Choi Jin Shil went through in her real life: *** [12.19.2002] Choi Jin Shil and Jo Sung Min on the verge of divorce Top star Choi Jin Shil ("Since I Knew You...") (34) and baseball player Jo Sung Min (29) are on the verge of a divorce. Both sides held separate press conferences, and while Jo Sung Min clearly spoke out for a divorce, Choi Jin Shil wanted to hold on to the marriage. Choi is currently 8 months pregnant and also has an 18-month old son, which is why she wants to keep the family together. Although speculations of a third party, Shin (34), was talked about, Jo strongly denies allegations of any relationship with somebody named Shin. Jo, instead, speaks out of being tired of Choi's laziness and indifference, also commenting on his disgust at how Choi can not quit smoking during her pregnancies. Both sides, though, seem to acknowledge that troubles began when Jo came back from Japan, where his baseball season ended. They fought over little things, and Jo's new bakery business also became a factor of financial burden for both. Although both sides have expressed their opinions separately, they have yet to come together to talk things out. [12.20.2002] Choi Jin Shil faints from shock and stress Actress Choi Jin Shil, currently in the process of a divorce with baseball player Jo Sung Min, fainted from shock and exhaustion Thursday, December 19. Her brother, singer Choi Jin Young, has stated that Choi Jin Shil cannot move as of right now, comparing her situation to that of a coma. The happening occurred after Jo attempted to talk things out with Choi at their house. Choi, who is 8 months pregnant, is on the verge of an abortion because doctors have concluded that her body is in too bad of a condition for a cesarean section. Jo has stood silent after the happening and is waiting for Choi's answers to his request for a divorce. *** No wonder her portrayal of Soonie comes off as so believeable.

Wowee. is right! Weird that her TV husband and real-life husband are both younger, too. Makes me think maybe the writers were thinking of her from the beginning.

Ah that's so sad. I feel sorry for the actor who plays her husband because I think those kicks were harder because she had the anger in her!

She's such a good actress and I feel so bad for her because maybe the reason she's smoking to begin with is because of her husband who doesn't seem to be giving her much support!

You can certainly see why her performance was so astonishingly (and sadly) accurate. Almost painful for us to watch.

Aigu! Saw episode 8 yesterday. I just knew that they were going to sucker Soonie out of some money. Poor her! I felt so bad for her, first her husband tells her that the divorce thing is pretty much a go, then her MIL tells her that it's her fault for not bearing him a son, then the dad throws a tantrum at her in-law's, then she gets fooled out of a lot of money, and finally she's told she has cancer!

Gal-ck, are you talking about the card from the fortune teller? That woman was a great con artist.

You know, when she invested in the yogurt delivery business, I thought to myself, "does she have any proof that the woman really has a business and that it's successful?" But her "friend" vouched for the woman, and they both seemed so nice and happy for her, that I put it out of my mind. I just can't believe poor Soonie's bad luck (though it was also a little stupid of her to believe a stranger who wants money). Aigu! And not only cancer, but "the final stages of stomach cancer." Ai-u-ai-u!
