I just started watching this show and on the episode last night, there was a young married couple working in a fast food restaurant. Two young guys came in and started some trouble after the woman accidentally spilled some water on one of the guys. So just as they were about to tear up the place this old lady walks out from the kitchen and the guys panic, apologize to the old lady and quickly leave. They were obviously afraid of the older woman.
So what is the deal with this old woman and why were the two thugs so afraid of her?

Thugs? Are you talking about the high-school teenagers who are stalking Mi-jung? The only older woman I know of working at the restaurant is Bok-soon--did anyone see this particular scene? Perhaps they were ready to fight Mi-jung and In-chul, but an actual older lady commanded their respect.

I think Melissa is ahead of us. I keep up with the show and haven't seen anything like this.
Bok-soon doesn't work in the restaurant anymore. There is a new ajumma, and she is pretty bossy to everyone. I liked her at first, but now she's getting clownlike. She looks like a clown and has started overacting and being generally obnoxious. Anyway, maybe she was just intimidating to those boys. A bossy older lady can be pretty tough, I guess. If they were just punk kids, I could see it happening that way.

I don't remember seeing this either (and I know I'm ahead of you guys)...
Do you know what episode you're on, Melissa?
This is the other Melissa :-)

She's been working in restaurants for 25 years, she said. Maybe she has disciplined them before somewhere else. I was really astounded at her the other day when she ate most of the eggrolls Mi-jung had made for In-chul. How piggy!

Hi Melissa - Well, the young married couple in the restaurant was afraid she was the wife of an old time mobster and that is why I think there maybe something more going on with this character. I'm not sure what number episode this is, and I don't want to describe anymore. . . If anyone is watching in the New York City area, you will have seen it. -Melissa (edit) Melissa, I decided better safe than sorry and removed a couple of words from your message. --Lucy (a moderator with a phobia about spoilers)

Well, then, Melissa the 2nd (LOL), maybe you should post in the spoiler thread (at the top of this forum). Someone there may know what you are talking about and clue you in. Unless you don't want to be spoiled, either. Bo

I'm so not a pro at this yet Bo, i'll tell you. That's why I only have one star! If I only knew the number of the episode to which I am referring, I'd make everyone's life so much easier

Melissa-not-xelaevoli (who is the other/first melissa here), we're at around episode 136. I can tell you almost for sure that if you're in NY, you're ahead of us, so the spoiler thread is definitely the place for you to go to check out what's going on here in Chicago vs NYC and check in with others who are farther along than us.

OK, I just found out that it was episode 148, so we are a little bit farther ahead in the New York City area.

Yeah...I'm from NY as well, & it's a spoiler for sure!
I think we're nearing the end of this drama. How many episodes, 150?? If that's the case, it will end this week.
