I always used to set the text to one size larger whenever I used the "teletype" tag, because the type looked so tiny. Then I changed the font in my browser, and found I didn't have to do that anymore; it looked the same size as regular text. Do some experimenting, and you might find a font that's easier to read.

Thank you all for understanding and for the info. I tried resetting the default for the yahoo e-mail and it keeps going back to that small typeface. But I can read the text on this board much easier due to the black background and the white letters. However, that colored type LOL was something else ;D The brighter letters were okay ... the darker ones couldn't really read them well. I am very glad that the typeface here is one I can read without adjusting all kinds of stuff. You moderators [glow=red,2,300]ROCK!![/glow]

One of the traditional dishes in the Philippines is called, I think, dugang? And the best of my recollection, it's an unborn baby duck in the shell. So, grownup dead turkey/unborn dead duck, take yer pick. They're both pretty icky to me. My SIL calls the unborn baby duck Balut. It's a baby chick in the egg. I personally can't eat it, but my 3 nieces ages 3, 5, and 7 can eat it like boiled eggs. The grandmother sometimes go to an open market just to buy my nieces these eggs. eeeuuuwwww!!!!! Such is the life of Filipino children.

Is it like a pretty well developed duckie, or is it more like an egg yolk (embryonic duck)? So they just crack it open and go for it with a spoon, as you say, like a boiled egg?

This reminds me of when I was in China (northern part, near North Korea)...they had these on a stick in a park (street vendor). I saw them and about lost my lunch because they are perfectly formed, but you *know* they are fresh out of the eggshell because of their shape. (It was like 3 baby chicks (still in the "egg" shape) skewered on a stick for people to buy. Where's the vomit icon when you need it) No way. No how. Uh uh. Melissa

I had it more than once when I was in the Philippines its pretty gross at first but its actually good esp the juice...supposedly balut is good for your health. They also believed that its good for men to eat before sex =)hahaha

It has an underdeveloped duck inside the grossest part....then the yolk which is actually pretty good and the white part which is really hard. They boil it first before eating.....vendors sells it usually at night....they walk around the streets saying 'balut, balut" haha

My sister in law said if she was on that show and had to eat balut, she would eat hers and if her competitors wouldn't eat their's she would ask for their's also. We all had to laugh. I would probably stop at that point, but here my SIL is asking for seconds. Go figure!!!! LOL

I saw that they had soon-dae at the Korean Fest today, but I was so full from kalbi, spicy octopus, veggie tempura, etc. that I wasn't able to give it a try. Had to take a pass on the veggie pancakes and kim-bop, too

The Fest was really nice even with the rain on Saturday. ;D Went both Sat and Sunday .... had a mixture of things on Sat including fried octopus, which wasn't gross but I still prefer shrimp, even my 8 yo granddaughter Shannon tried the octopus and she said she would eat a small piece but that was enough LOL, also tasted some kimchee, chop chae and a smoothie. Took some pix yesterday but sadly, I have a very inexpensive digital w/o flash so the pix I took of Ginnycat and others did not turn out ... we were in the eating tent and it was rather dark; the pix were totally black and no matter how I tried to fix it by contrast etc., still couldn't see anything. I am turning in my photographer's badge now. LOL ;D But some good news, Shannon took a few pix which did turn out and I did manage a decent one of birb and Shannon; that was Saturday's Fest. Burb and I attended today also and it was more crowded with many families ... the children are just so adorable. We checked out a few vendors and then got some food. I had the veggie pancake; ummm good. Birb got some veggie tempura, kimchee, rice and galbi [sp? the grilled beef]. We enjoyed the Fest today and saw the drummers, the wresterlers, some of the Korean singers and watched a halmany in a han bok stay in the corner by the music stage and be the cheer leader, clapping her hands and dancing around. We took a short break by popping into the Coffee Cafe for some bubble tea ... love those tapioca balls ... right Birb??? We took some more pix which I am in the process of trying to download. I will ask Simon my SIL to show me how to make a link to view them -- or something so you all can see them. We also stopped by the CH28 booth to tell them how much we enjoy the English subs and to thank them for increasing the amount they are showing. NOTE: there is a newscast in English/or subs at 10:30 pm Mmmm-F with international and local news. Even tho, right now it's not late by the clock, my body is saying "Midnite ... time for sleep" ... that's what I get for having such a good time today!

I am a Japanese-American whose brother is married to a Korean. She introduced me to sundae. At first, it looked appalling. Gradually, however,I acquired a taste for it and now crave it every now and then. That's when I head to Chicago Food (a Chicago Korean supermarket)for sundae and other Korean incredible edibles ;D
