I can't believe that Korean MIL's are different than other MIL's from different cultures. I agree that the writers are dragging out this scenario to where we're going to become so frustrated with In-young's situation that we'll be so relieved when she decides that she's had enough.
I don't know how much more In-young can take. Either she and Ki-joon will move from his home to their own place, miles away, or In-young will develop more than a friendship with Jae-min. Her MIL is really becoming unbelievably controlling.
I'm really getting tired of seeing In-young pretending to be on her MIL's side just to keep peace. It's ridiculous how her MIL ended up sick in bed because In-young had her Aunt help her make kimchee.
Ki-joon is such a "weenie" with his desire to keep his mother happy. He's about to lose his pretty, intelligent and very kind wife because she's at her wit's end. Also, he's so stupid to let Hee-joo enter his life at that convention. If Hee-joo gets drunk, he should have called her parents to come and get her instead of bailing her out. Maybe he should have called his own mother to come and take her away which would have put Mom in a predicament. Maybe Mom should see how her cherished Hee-joo is behaving.

Yeah, that would have been funny. But ... how about how SM was wolfing down that bread that her daughter snuck to her in bed? That was ~too~ funny! And then gulping down that glass of milk as if she hadn't eaten for a whole week or something but she'd only skipped one meal. I love the way Aunt busted them for smuggling food in. I like the comic relief at the end of the day working, I make a cup of coffee, put my feet up and thank god I don't (a) live with my mil and (b) my mil isn't anywhere near like that! I do sense a cultural difference here, not that all Korean women would be so wicked to their dil's (b/c I would never paint any group with such a broad stroke) but there is an entirely different cultural expectation that lots of newlyweds live w/the grooms parents and the dil does housework under the direction of the mil, sometimes (in the extreme) becomes like a maid. Again, I have no personal experience but I have to believe that it is so prevalent in their modern dramas that there must be some basis in reality in that plot-line. And doesn't SM know In-young's family from before? Are they from the same village? It's obvious that SM is insecure in her status b/c she's "nouveau riche". I suspect that maybe having In-young's aunt help her w/the kimchi must in some ways remind her of her humble beginnings that she wishes she could forget. SM is so insecure that her main focus in life is what her circle of friends will think of her. Sad if you really think about it, but since I know she's just an actor playing a part, I like to have a laugh at the ridiculous plot lines.

I thought SM had gone on a hunger strike because KJ thwarted her in her decision to insult Aunt by sending her the kimchee and he shouted-SM is the only one permitted to shout in that house. At least he should report every stalking incident, and the fact that he's told her to stop.

SM is becoming too unreal. I haven't watched tonight's episode yet, which I taped, but she's becoming a real pain. Every time I see In-young suffering, I want to shout to her and Ki-joon to just move far, far away. I'm beginning to see Ki-joon as less of a man, but more of a Mama's boy.
In-young has everything going for her, including a good job and a mature man in Jae-min.

i want in- young to leave ki-joon sooo bad.
why is this show so p.c? why dont they just make it that she leaves? only thing i liked about mpc was that ji-woong's mom knew when to leave, she putted up with no nonsence.

i understand running away from problems is not good. but who can take that abuse? i mean she dosent deserve it and bowing down to this woman and becoming a personal slave for her is not making her relationship with her husband better.
maybe ki-joon is waiting for her to make the first move so he can be right in suit. he dosent look too happy himself. i cant fanthom anyone telling me when i can work, when i can go outside and when i can procreate. she needs to run...far far away.

SM tries so hard not to create stress for IY so that IY can procreate.
Simple solution: SM just needs to keep her mouth shut!!!
Once she opens her mouth, all is lost for IY. And her spineless of a husband, could care less what his mother does to IY.

Yeah, we need more sitcoms occupying MS's time slot. That would make things nicer and maybe I'd laugh for a change. Seeing the entirely pitiful lives of MIL's and DIL's and the troubles of the heart make me sad.
