A fish called 'corbina' is mentioned numerous times in "Who's My Love." Have any of you eaten it? And judging from Grandma's reaction when Jiyeun cooked all that fish, I am assuming that it is rather expensive (at least from HER point of view). Is it the equivalent of eating lobster,in terms of cost?
Just wondering.

I have no idea what kind of fish this is, but in the show Go-eun and Hyun-sik were talking and she mentioned that they were $24 (for just 1, I assume), that's some pretty expensive fish. Here's a look at the sucker: www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/mspcont3.htmlScroll down to find it.

Thanks, override. I wonder if they are expensive because they are imported (to Korea, of course)? The website said they inhabit the seas off of California.

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering too, I'm curious how many types of Corbina are out there.

They're also called croakers, according to my dictionary. I've seen that name used in K-dramas before. They must be well known as a delicacy in Korea.

I noticed when I watched the scene that they seemed to be calling it "gulbi" which is close to the word "kalbi"--a kind of minute steak. Anyone else think that?
I thought it was funny when Hana and Jiyeun, and then Hana and her mom, were discussing why Jiyeun did not think anything of making so much corbina. They discussed how at home, the mothers ate a little part and the daughters ate the rest of the fish! Exactly what Goeun said to Jiyeun about how mothers give up the delicacies for the children and the father! But they were so oblivious to this parallel.
